Thompson Twins are a MUST. However I don't think Allanah and Tom will tour together now that they are divorced. They haven't toured with Joe Since '86, honestly if all 3 could get back together and tour I don't even think they would need other bands. A-ha would be good too, however I doubt they would agree to this because they are still huge in Europe, S America, etc. That being said if they want to play bigger venues in the US and re-introduce themselves this would be a good way to do it.

2008-04-24 12:34:07 ET

Jason, I was Thompson Twins agent back in the 80's. Through a third party I have had some contact with both Tom and Allanah in the past 60 days or so. Allanah is a chair designer and out of music entirely but would consider doing a tour if the money was enticing. I think Tom is going to be a much harder sell. We're very eager to get them for the 09 edition of our tour or just to tour on their own!

2008-04-28 17:08:40 ET

Sorry!I miss also Gary Numan,Heaven 17 and...Nik Kershaw (still releasing!) one icon of the '80!

2008-05-01 14:15:11 ET

The Fixx (they're still touring - seen them recently), Tears For Fears (some of the best music of the 80's), and the Psychedelic Furs (brilliant alternative 80's rock) would be my first picks. Ultravox would be an incredible addition although a little obscure for the mainstream market. I love the Gary Numan idea, and Missing Persons (they were just here in Knoxville) would be strong. With Danny Elfman's success in film, Oingo Boingo might be a hard one to get...

WHERE'S CULTURE CLUB?? They haven't toured together in about 6 years, so they're due for a bit of a comeback...Any chance you could convince George and the boys to patch up their differences for a US tour? (there was all that silliness a couple years back where they tried to get a new lead singer...) Get Culture Club, throw in a couple of decent support bands, and I guarantee you Regeneration Tour 2009 will be a complete sell-out!!

Do not demean the name or talent of Echo and The Bunnymen with this poll. They will never LUMP themselves in a nostalgia tour. They are still a very current and legit band. Go Buy Siberia! Echo would rather play a beer and piss soaked bar in the South than group themselves with the likes of Dead or Alive....

ABC (Martin Fry) was incredible on Saturday night. I went to the show just to see ABC, and I definitely got my money's worth. Belinda was great, too. My wife really loved her. Unfortunately, the Human League was somewhat ant-climactic after the others. You forget until the show that they only had three hits, and I only knew four of the songs they performed. Anyway, I'm surprised no one has mentioned X, Adam Ant, or Thomas Dolby. Too bad Joe Strummer passed away, because the Clash would be great, too. I saw the Thompson Twins in '84, and would love to see them again. I also saw Adam Ant in '88 or '89 for the Vive Le Rock tour. He puts on a great show.

Hey VegasDJ, can't agree less about Human League. They were awesome!! They also had a lot more than 3 hits outside of Vegas!! Thomas Dolby was out playing keys for Roger Waters last year! That was one hell of a show. Rick (with a silent 'P') Astley?? Really?? Talk about lack of talent... Hehe ;-)

I saw the show last night in SLC and I'm going to agree with DJVegas that The Human League was totally anti-climatic! They didn't even play Obession! ABC and Belinda Carlisle were both fabulous! And Naked Eyes was really good, too. Great show anyway! I can't wait to see who's in the line up for next year.

Hey, SimonG, my opinion reflects my taste, not yours, and when the Human League was current, I was still in Los Angeles. I should have said "four hits" but I forgot about "Human" at that moment. I never said thay were bad, but I personally enjoyed Martin Fry and Belinda Carlisle more. I guess I'm sorry if that offends you. You're right, outside of Las Vegas (nationally) they had six hits in the Top 40, but only three went higher than number 30: "Don't You Want Me", #1; "(Keep Feeling) Fascination", #8; and "Human", #1. Also, try reading my post again. I'm not a big Rick Astley fan, so I never said anything about him.

Just saw the Regeneration Tour last night. Bought fifth row tickets the night of, a little disconcerting there, but the place did seem to fill up after a while. Naked eyes, or more appropriately Naked Eye sans Rob Fisher, seemed a little too heavy on the melancholy /sadness scale. Flock of Seagulls - Real tough. When they first came on stage making adjustments to the instruments, I thought they were Roadies. They looked like they walked out of a homeless shelter and or Rehab. Thankfully. things picked up considerably when ABC took the Stage, excellent performance even if Martin Fry's voice sounded a bit strained. I guess the old pipes don't quite recover after a few gigs like they did 20+ years ago. Belinda Carlisle seemed to be a bit catty with the stage hands and back-up band, but she sounded & performed great. Nice mix of Go-Go's and Single stuff. Human League, very entertaining, Synth Pop Performance art in all it's glory. Phil Oakey got his cardio in kicking a highly theatrical performance on stage. I did feel a little bad for Joanne Catherall, she was painfully too ample for those costumes, but she soldiered on workin' it to the Max. Susan Ann Sulley looked fantastic, and sang back up flawlessly. All in all good show, but take your time getting there, grab a cocktail & skip the first two acts.

Saw the show last night. I was highly anticipating Seagulls and Human League but ABC won hands down. Great show, Martin and the gang! OMD, EATB, The Fixx would be awesome but agree than Ian probably wouldn't do an 80s revival show. They are still very relevant... listen to Siberia! A-ha is mega-huge in Europe, selling out stadiums, but it would be a great way for the band to let Statesiders hear some of their latest songs (listen to Analogue, one of the best pop tunes in the last decade). OMD had some great stuff but Andy hasn't put out an OMD disk since '95. The Regeneration tour is a great idea and I am really looking forward to next year's lineup.

I saw the show Wednesday in Cary, NC. I really enjoyed ABC and Belinda. Belinda gave me goose bumps, I expected that a Flock of Seagulls would have been more impressive, but I was disappointed in the new line up. It looks like the music industry is not immune to the influx of Mexican immigrants taking our jobs. Naked eyes did a good job as well, Human League were also good. I agree that Joanne's cloths didnt go well. I would really like to see Level 42, The Fixx, Peter Murphy,Thompson Twinns,Tears for Fears and A-ha.

Just saw the performance in Palm Beach and had excellent seats in row 4. Although this date had the weakest line up i was ex ited to see Missing Persons. Unfortunately, Dale Bozzio of Missing Persons was in horrible shape and was a terrible disappointment. Naked Eyes was very good and ABC really made it all worthwhile for me. Hoping for Kim Wilde, Bananarama, OMD, Modern English and Adam Ant. I would also see ABC again and Missing Persons if they get her into rehab. Oh, Berlin!

Are people serious with RICK ASTLEY? I think he is one the many appropriate acts that have faded into obscurity and will hopefully never be heard from again in ANY artistic field, since he had proven that his mission was a total failure... as far as any important work or influence goes. I certainly couldn't see ANY record company giving the 'go-ahead' for a re-issue, or dare I write it without puking, a deluxe CD edition! The Regeneration Tour has potential but not if we're relying on the 'talent' of half ass musicians, then there's no wonder it couldn't really 'tour' anywhere other than the states..... why not throw the New Kids On The Block, WHAM! and MC Hammer on the list as well? I'm sure that would appeal to all of Rick's fans, no? (rolls eyes at the masses)
