Ann Hathaway was a gem. Franco looked stoned and/or bored half the time. Thank goodness for DVRs!!!! No way could I have endured 3+ hours of that without it.

Everything about it was dull. The host, the set, the lighting. Just plan dull. Billy and Woopie have said the would do it toghether---Get them NOW. We need something to look forward to

Maybe next year the hosts should be Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen. That would sue be a riot and would get a better rating. This year was God Awful.

I thought the kids did terrific...chemistry...his debonair...her absolute charm and beauty from the inside/out made it a treat...and the ending filled with hopes and dreams...inspiring...and in spite of not being a huge movie buff (confess I recently was taken to Kings Speech and Secretariat) it speaks well of the future of movies to celbrate our youth who are our future...I gave them a standing "O" at the finish!

Congress should pass a law that the only person allowed to host the Oscars is Billy Crystal.

I enjoyed the oscars because the writers did not bash and write vulgar, stupid jokes, although I know Hollywood loves that kind of stuff. No class in most actors and actresses anymore. The Billy Crystal thing gets old. There are not any Bob Hopes around so to have a classy lady, like Hathaway was a pleasant change. The Hollywood scene is getting pretty rank and out of control. I did think most attendees looked very classy...women are getting away from the show your navel and everything in between thing and getting back to elegant dresses. Men need to start dressing up a bit. These entertainers have put themselves on a pedestal they don't deserve. The kids chorus was the best part. Hathaway was great.........

This had to one of the worst Oscars I've ever seen, and James Franco was the absolute worst host I think they've ever had. Anne Hathaway tried her best with what she had to work with, which wasn't much, but Franco acted like he would rather be anywhere else other than where he was. I didn't have high hopes for this pairing from the start, and it proved to a disaster. The whole show was a colossal bore, with the one bright spot being Billy Crystal...Please...Whoever makes the decision about who will host next year's Oscars, PLEASE bring Billy back...And don't ever let James Franco in the door of this event ever again.

These people (actors, etc) are way too uptight about themselves. Franco looked like a reanimated corpse. Gervais is exactly what they need.

The lost me at "Welcome to the 83 rd Oscars"

You need one more question in your poll. "Don't watch the Oscars, it's not worth your time."
That would have been my response.

The Oscars have been a joke for many years now.

Get rid of Billy Crystal. PLEASE!

THE WORLD IS CRASHING, THE ECONOMY IS GONE - AND 'THEY' MAKE A BIG DEAL ABOUT PEOPLE WHOSE LIVES ARE ALL ABOUT 'PRETENDING'!! What is wrong with this picture??

Worse Oscar night production ever (at least for me). James FranWHO? Ann Hathway - looked fabulous but was so over the top and immature. Loved Billy Crystal's appearance. Was hoping the producers were bringing him in for the last half of the show. LOL I agree with the person who said this deserved the razzy. And James, the NERDS, they are the reason the show goes on!

I thought Ann Hathaway was cute in D.W.P but after viewing her on last years Oscars I got the impression she thinks she's Gods gift. She's just another pretty face who can barely act, I agree with the comment above regarding her being obnoxious. I thought James did a OK job, I didn't feel he was trying to upstage anyone like Hathaway did. You'd think with all that talent out there they could write, produce, cast and direct a better show!!!

  • BradKT - 13 years ago

Only Oscars show I have ever seen that I felt should get a Razzie. Terrible writing, production and performances by hosts Ann Hathaway and James Franco. The fact that the Kodak Theater is such a great set for displaying talent made it even worse. There was a real overall lack of talent on display in Hollywood last night.

This was the worst job of hosting an Academy Awards show that I have ever seen. I hope that it wasn't a career ender for either one of them, but it came close and neither one of them should ever host the Oscars again.

they were definitely low-energy and downright unfunny at times, but there were several oscar hosts who were worse: Letterman, Whoopi, and Christ Rock come to mind immediately.

  • Dan - 13 years ago

Sorry, but I could look at Ann Hathaway all day.

  • Steve - 13 years ago

They were awful. I could do a better job. They should let fans host next year and pay tribute to the real people who make it all possible - the paying audience.

  • Camille - 13 years ago

Franco looked stoned and bored. Get him off the stage. The "Nerds" comment for the Technical Oscar winners was just so wrong! Without all the behind the scene "Nerds" there would be no movie industry.

Hathaway is adorable and probably would had done better with a different co-host and a much better script. Fire the writers, they should be ashamed of themselves.

  • jake - 13 years ago

    none as bad as whoopie.g

  • quilt411 - 13 years ago

Anne Hathaway did a good job - Franco stunk!! She would have been better doing it by herself. . he obviously didn't want to be there. . .

This was the worst, most cringeworthy Oscars I have ever seen. I love James Franco but he looked like a deer in the headlights for most of the night and Anne Hathaway was just plain obnoxious. I don't recall one "joke" that I laughed at. I am going to go out on a limb here and say that having Kirk Douglas on as a presenter was shocking. Anyone who watched him back in the day ("Spartacus" in particular) would have to be pretty stunned at the condition he's in now at 94. Okay, I know he's 94 but I spent most of the time he was on the stage praying that he wouldn't fall over. For that matter, I spent most of the show switching back and forth between the Oscars and "The Holmes Inspection" on HGTV. Regarding the winner of best supporting actress (sorry, can't recall her name) ... she was a classless idiot and I doubt that I will ever go out of my way to watch anything she is in. I'm very sorry she won. She may be a great actress but she sure came across as a trashy human being ... not just for saying the "F" word but her whole speech was just weird. Please bring Billy Crystal back!!!

didn't vote since i did not watch it.

I believe the 1930 Oscars were the most boring and the TV audience was very small :-). Worst Oscars as compared to what, before or after live TV coverage. Stupid poll.

? When Obama is unhappy, Hollywood is unhappy?

  • sandra - 13 years ago

Who cares anyway???? They all are a bunch of rich people who think too highly of themselves. Their sh** stinks just like everybody elses.

  • Andrew Ferreira - 13 years ago

It was bad to be sure but, c'mon... nothing we were subjected to last night was as bad as David Letterman. How soon we forget.

  • Patrick saunders - 13 years ago

Thank God for one brief shining moment with Billy Crystal: BRING HIM BACK
