As a white American, I am offended by Jeremiah Wright's comments...how can he be a man of God and preach the hate towards whites as in his sermons...the beauty of this is he is sure to face the wrath of God for using the pulpit to promote his hate for white people.

Why would anyone serioulsy consider a person who supports any type of long standing and deep seated racial feelings about America.

This is a very important topic and people should not forget about the Reverends comments. They were Racial and damning to America. There is more than just Senator Obama's association with this Reverand and his venamous language. The fact is that Senator Obama first lied about his direct knowledge of the Reverand's views and then in his now famous "race" speech, finally acknowledged he had heard some comments. He has turned his back on his own Reverand on at least three occasions - he must have a reason. This is the continuing concern of all I speak with about this matter.

We are not making a big deal of this. Wright spoke against the USA. And I believe used God"s name in vain for his purpose, whatever it may be. What is his purpose?

I think the bigger issue is: Who cares why Wright cancelled his sermons! While America does care about the character of their presidential candidates, I don't think that has pastor cancelling sermons merits "BREAKING NEWS" for two nights in a row and Fox not talking about anything else. I can only assume that Fox has a bias against Obama, for one reason or another. I would think that if it were political, that you would have the same bias against Clinton, but the news about her repeated outright lies have gotten little coverage. Yet, ANY news you can find in which you can use the words "Reverend Wright" seems to be breaking new and gets giant headlines. Obama said in his speech that people "talk" differently in their own home with their own family. Are we to believe that, over a 20 year period, Obama didn't " talk" frankly with his "uncle" about race relations in America? Doubt that. I wanted to believe in Obama but now I just don't trust him.

Regardless of whether you see an entire video or read an entire speech of this so called reverend (I see a hundred of them asking for money every night on television), it does not justify what he said. I was under the impression after an interview I saw with the Pastor of the church in florida celebrating its 10th anniversay of it's church that they felt that their church preached hope and that they are now aware of the current controversy that it would not serve their purpose.

Is it really coincidence that Obama went on a "family" vacation at the same time that Rev. Wright supposedly disappeared? They are also both back on the scene--another coincidence! Also, the photos of Obama's trip showed Obama in the forefront and blacked out the rest of the people in the photo!!! Could the "uncle" have been on this family trip and in the background of these photos? Obama stated that he attended a service on Easter but who gave the sermon and where?? If it was on the beach, it could have been Rev. Wright. Obama seems to protect him at all times so I would lopve the answer to some of these questions! Obama denied hearing or knowing of Wright's philosophy about the country, racism, AIDS, the government, etc. but in his race speech he admitted to hearing these controversial statements and also to being aware of Wright's philosophies and yet he stands by this man!! Therefore, I will only vote for Hillary Clinton as the democratic nominee; otherwise, I am voting for McCain and I am an Independent. I wonder if Obama would want his children to associate with others that had a bad reputation. Most of us believe that we are known by the company we keep. Sometime we get in a situation we don't feel comfortable with but we don't just keep going back. I was so ready to vote for Barack Obama until I heard all of this filth coming from his pastor. If Barack would have denounced Rev. Wright and took his children and family out of the church I would have had no problem voting for him. Now it is clear that to elect this man would be a vote for a race riot, in proportion the likes that have never been seen in our country or another Civil War this time between black and white instead of the North and South.

I have watched the whole video and others. I was offended. I did not own slaves. I am not a racist. My family has been in this land since the 17th century with roots in Pennsylvania. There are grave yards in Pennsylvania that have my relatives in them that fought and died in the Civil War to end slavery. My family's dues are paid! I tire of the victim chants. Whites in the British Isles were captured and sold as slaves by the Vikings. We got over it, so should the Negro race.

He is a hate monger and if he were white and making racial comments the news media and black activists would turn the country upside down. Imus's remarks were tame compared to Wright's comments but most of the media and blacks don't think it's wrong. The difference between what is said and who said it seems to come from different worlds. If Wright hates this country so much why has he been here all his life living in the "terrible" conditions he has had to endure. Why don't he move to some country that is better suited to his ideals. The answer is, he is lying. Like many racial activists such as Jackson and Sharpels he makes a good living getting people to believe all of their difficulties in this life is someone else's fault. They are victims. White people can't understand because they haven't walked in their shoes. Well, they haven't walked in white people shoes either. No one ever gave me anything. I grew up with little except the love of TWO parents and a hard work ethic. I have been successful because I worked my way through college and worked a lot of hard hours to progress. Many times I was passed over by a black with less education and experience because our company had a policy of promoting blacks over whites in order to meet their "diversity" goals. So I worked harder and smarter to succeed. I didn't resent the blacks who were promoted. It wasn't their fault, it was management and I became part of that same management. I didn't agree with some of the policies but I was responsible for it's implementation and I did my job. I would voice my opinion when I felt someone was passed over whether they were black or white. I'm not racist. I'm for fair play no matter who it is. Wright, Jackson, Sharpels and others are satisfied only when they get it all their way. Fair play has nothing to do with it. How can they put Reverend if front of their name when they cheat, lie, and steal? And no one seems to care. I was deeply offended by Wright's remarks but I'm white so it doesn't matter.

What a joke. I have been a member of a 8,000 member church for 15 years, fully understand its doctrine and have had the senior pastor over to my house for dinner on 3 occasions.... and I am working stiff, not a Senator. To think Obama was clueless as to what a racist church he belongs too is to think Bush is an English Major.

Its difficult to get into Rev Wright's head so the vote is strictly an off the cuff opinion with little meaning. The media, as usual, has milked this issue to the hilt and just can't give it up. Hopefully, the people will get the privilege from our extremely anal oriented press to deal with some real issues that face our country. Sadly, the candidates are all weak and exhibit mininal leadership qualities giving the press plenty of fodder to continually milk and milk seconary issues. Wouldn't it be great if about June all three candidates together decide to say the hell with the presendency and resign their candidacy. As the Obama campaign has pointed out, white America does not like to talk about race; this is why the currently polls show a negligent reaction to the Wright blunder.

However, they will get a chance to speak their minds at the polls in PA--I would not be surprised to see Obama get hammered.

Obama claimed something about his "white" grandmother. If so, what is his nationality? Is he black or white? This is what we should be considering: If "Rev." Wright's comments had not been exposed, he would still be spewing racism and hate from his pulpit, and he would still be Obama's "spiritual leader" and "advisor". And that is who many Americans want to vote into the White House. Most here on this site are either conservative or have woken up to the truth. This controversy has not reached the sheep who believe Obama is a "great guy" and will change our country. Like we need a "rock star" to fix what ails us!

I think Rev. Wright is a Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton “Wanabe” at Obama’s expanse. All three of these men seem to be very motivated be profit and notoriety with no regard for common decency or honor. If they had any true regard for their race or for America they would try to help the situation and not hinder it. I think Senator Obama should distance himself from all three of these evil poisonious racest. I heard Hilary's speak tonight on your program and felt she spoke with great passion for our country and its needs. I was proud of her and I applaud her determination and dedication to our American ideals.

If you read his books, see his ties to Africa, the Muslims and where his true loyalties are, we cannot afford to elect him to the most powerful position in the World. For the person that asked have we watched the entire sermons of Rev. Wright. In some of his sermons yes I have. His calling Italians garlic nose is unacceptable. As President of the United States you represent all people and these kind of comments being made should not only not be tolerated the person running for President should reprimand the person making these comments and that has yet to be done. I have been a Hillary supporter but if Obama was to win the parties nomination I would have voted for him but after weeks of him having a chance to reprimand the horrible words being used against other nationalities and our government which Obama has not done I will not vote for him now if he goes on to be the Democratic nominee. I had great hope for Obama, I liked him a lot when he gave the 2004 Democratic speech at the convention. I am saddened that he isn't speaking up about the comments being made, we are all Americans and all want the same things in life and our country. Political correctness has gone too far under the guise of diversity. The white people are required to accept the black culture but the black people only denounce and show hatred for any and all white heritage and culture. White people are supposed to accept the black peoples opinions without question, and should be ashamed of their heritage and culture. I am a life time Democrat who is totally disappointed that we cannot get a single person who is honorable as a nominee. We have a person who hates the very country he lives in and all people except blacks. THIS GUY IS A DIVIDER NOT A UNITER. We got a woman who cannot tell the truth. NO one has called Obama on his not hearing the comments Rev Wright said. No one has called Obama on plagerizing "words don't matter" Obama's speech on race took us back pre 60's when he has promised to take us into the future. What future? One that splits America? I'm a black professional with two sons, a Harvad graduate and a Stanford graduate. I can tell you this would not have been possible if it weren't for the gains we made since the 60'S. I'm proud of our country dispite our flaws. Race isn't the issue and we need to stop trying to have a dialogue on it but focus on helping America recover from this upside down economy. Solve our problems not create a non issue. Lastly someone needs to investigate what is being said in the black churches....it is scary if they are replicating the junk Rev Wright is preaching. Please don't nominate a candidate who has shown such poor judgement.

I and my husband had supported Alan Keyes for President but unfortunately that brilliant man got no where. Probably too conservate and too Christian. I watch In Touch Ministries and his congregation is very mixed and he speaks from the "BIBLE" as it should be. The head of about 107 Baptist Churches in our state is a Black Man and he just came to our CHurch and preached and visited recently and the man had such a moving sermon. I believe Obama was not honest in his remarks regarding his pastor. He stated the minister was retiring he failed to mention he was continuing on as associate pastor, after stating his minister was retiring he reinterated he was not leaving his church.
This comment tells me he is not willing to disassociate himself with his minister. If he were my pastor I would be physically ill hearing the statements he made in his sermons. Obama said the media was putting 30 years of sermons in 30 seconds. I believe we would be apalled if we were to hear all of his sermons. I believe Obama was in attendance when some of these statements were made. This man is not onlyhis pastor but also his friend, I am certain he was aware of his feelings during the past 20 years.

I am ashamed of Obama for having a 'family friend' who is so open about his racism. I was even more upset and disappointed when I read that Obama was so vocal about Imus' comment last year about a Woman's Basketball team; yet he has remained silent for the past year about his pastor's comments; I beleive that he has only spoken up against Wright because of his status in the current Presidential Campaign. I would be very disappointment with Democratics who vote for Obama after this issue. I am not a racist, and I thought that our country was so much further than this Pastor's comments, on several occasions. Going as far to say that the US deserved the 9/11 attacks. I would not have wished those attacks on any nation; it is an act of violence that no person shall ever have to endure. I have family that live in Illinois who share the same views that I have, and are appauled that these comments were made. I definitely do not want a President or Leader at any level who can 'overlook' or have selective hearing when racial or unethical comments on one or multiple occasions. I do not believe that Obama has never heard Wright make any of these comments; especially after Obama states Wright is like an uncle to him. To me, that means these two have spent a great deal of time together, most likely outside of the church when they both would be more relaxed and comfortable and able to speak their minds freely. Reverend Wright has enough courage and the right to speak his mind; he is in the sanctuary of HIS church. It is his right of freedom of speech to preach a sermon to his congregation on any subject. Not every member of his church will agree with his beliefs, but why is it so hard to believe that members of the church can still respect the Reverend. Catholic priests have for years and continue to molest and rape children, and the Pope and the church have paid money and looked the other way. Catholics remain true to their spiritual leaders, and continue to attend mass and service. I haven’t heard Fox asking why Catholics still support the church and continue allowing their children to attend mass and services, when there is a serious chance they could become a victim of molestation. Not very many of these priests have been tried and convicted I might add--due to the Pope and officials of the church cover-ups and millions of dollars paid out to the victims. Why are Catholic candidates not held accountable for the serious and real crimes of the Catholic Church? There are a lot of Catholics in the Senate, and past presidents who are also of the Catholic faith. Get real people, Obama has nothing to do with his spiritual advisors beliefs. Reverends, pastors, priests and the Pope are all human beings, they make mistakes and they say things which are no politically correct. By the way, why is Fox not reporting McCain's affiliation with the questionable preachers he has requested support from? It is shame that most of you in this chat room are one sided. To arrive a definate conclusion, you will need to listen to both sides. I am an American and I love this country just as much as the next person - but we have to be honest with ourselves and admit that there have been some awful things done in the name of our government, and maybe that is the point that Wright was trying to make. Maybe I wouldn't have said it quite the way he did - but it's getting rather tiresome hearing everyone so shocked at the idea that the U.S. has ever been involved in anything sordid, when the facts are, we HAVE. If we REALLY love this country, we have to face these facts, so that we can be sure not to repeat our mistakes in the future.
