I would like to add New World Thorndon to the list. Many people think it is over-priced, but if you shop there regularly it is quite good value, catering for the intelligensia of Wellington. They have quite a good range of beer and occasionally come up with a gem, eg this week Brakespear Oxford Gold. You can almost say the same thing about the other two central Wellington New Worlds (Chaffers and Metro), except Thorndon has a slightly better range. What I don't like about Island Bay is the good beers are often exposed to harsh flourescent light. In the others you can dig around the back where they aren't so exposed.
