I would just like to leave my opinion of this by saying the following...

What she is wearing is called "boy shorts" (do a google search for boy shorts, bootie/booty shorts, lace shorts, etc..)

    quick story...

This picture is beyond hot, OHMYG I just want a taste!...Of all my favorite sexual experiences, of which I have a Libraries worth, boy shorts are without a doubt my most revisited.

I think women don't wear them for the same reason men don't wear underwear of equivocal fitness. Uncomfortable as a mother fucker. Shiittt...

What is tolerated by one generation, will be embraced by the next.

  • Mark Blake - 13 years ago

    (1) If you are so damn worried about your children seeing this magazine cover, control them and keep them by your side while you shop! (2) What is she really showing...clevage and panties...wow almost pornographic, but it is OK for Marie Clare and other fashion magazines, plus Cosmo to sho very similar photos on their covers without even a peep from the masses! And Cosmo's been doing it for decades! Let's get off of this 'You Offend Me so it should be Banned" kick. If you don't like it, DON'T PURCHASE IT!, DON'T WATCH IT!, DON'T PAY TO SEE IT!

Can we just get something correct here, please?
Wearing makeup does not “sexualise” a woman.
Wearing heels does not “sexualise” a woman.
Wearing a bikini does not “sexualise” a woman.
Showing some skin does not “sexualise” a woman.
Having bare breasts does not “sexualise” a woman.
Being nude does not “sexualise” a woman.
You know what does? People. Society. You.

    Similarly:
Wearing makeup does not “sexualise” a child.
Wearing heels does not “sexualise” a child.
Wearing a bikini does not “sexualise” a child.
Showing some skin does not “sexualise” a child.
Having no top on does not “sexualise” a child.
Being nude does not “sexualise” a child.
You know what does? People. Society. You.

I have a young daughter If you have a young daughter, picture her picture on that magazine (and all the others like it) dressed as the model is. Would you want her scantily dressed for the world to see? Next, check out your local law enforcement sex offender's websites. How many are there? How many are near you? Might these type of visions be helping to feed their interest/curiosities/imaginations while they may be out to just get a gallon of milk, for example? This is deeper than you thought. Think about it. By being silent you may be causing someone somewhere to stumble. If you don't like it, tell the store manager and help to make a difference.

  • ryan - 13 years ago

If you truly had a problem with the mag you would stop shopping at the store where it sells. But no that would be to easy, instead you have to complain about morals and values when you, your self don't even live up to your own.

  • Gideon - 13 years ago

So apparently "parents" are going to hide the world away from their children? Going to shelter every bad image from their sight? Yeah, sure. This picture isn't even the least bit "pornographic". For a child to see this...is his imagination automaticly going to assume what her parts look like? No, he's going to be confused until he finds his Dads porno stash, just like every other American kid growing up. The cover is no more pornographic than any other magazine on the shelf. You see more skin on TV. If you see something you feel you shouldn't subject your children to, be a PARENT and move the other way. Don't complain to the store managers. Be an adult and stop complaining.

  • Kevin Pereira - 13 years ago

I know what the problem is! The women complaining wish they looked like her and the men complaining wish they were banging her! Jealousy it is!

  • Cthulhu - 13 years ago

WONT SOMEONE PLEEEEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!!!!! GOD FORBID THEY SEE THE HUMAN BODY AS A THING OF BEAUTY!!!!!!!!!!! ONLY SINNERS AND PERVERTS SEE THE BODY AS ANYTHING OTHER THAN SHAMEFUL AND DIRTY!!!!!!! ANYONE WHO LIKES THIS IS GOING TO HELL!!!!!!!!!!! What's the big freaking deal? It's not even showing camel toe for christsake! Effing crybabies.

  • Kent - 13 years ago

Its fine, stop being prudish. If you are a christian, you'll admire the beauty in it, and not the lust. In heaven, we'll all be naked, so get used to it.

  • Scott - 13 years ago

Sexuality is a hell of a lot better to see than war victoms blood and gore, give me beautiful human bodies to look at any day, if this is too much for you to look at then bury yourself in an old newspaper because those are out of date too!

  • Jim - 13 years ago

How about we focus on the crazy violence in the world today and stop worrying about a little nudity. Its not like we don't know what the human body looks like. If you want to live in a restrictive society then move to Iran or Saudi. Otherwise shut the hell up. This is the land of FREEDOM and and all I hear about every day is someone trying to take more and more of our FREEDOM from us. I can't see anything through her panties so it is not offensive. There are women walking around Miami Beach with less on than that. Go back in the closet where you belong.

  • TS - 13 years ago

This cover may not be appropriate for some viewers I agree. However, I feel this cover is showing nothing different than some magazines that are viewed by all that are geared for women. (i.e. Marie Claire and Cosmopolitan to name a couple).

  • Jeff - 13 years ago

    What a hottie!!

  • Joseph ERIC Fisk - 13 years ago

I believe it is awesome that this woman has not "let herself go" like so many other American women. Thank you, young lady.

  • Me - 13 years ago

It's amazing how prudish we Americans are! It's actually quite embarrassing even that we get upset about such a small thing. I am sure the Europeans are laughing at us like they did when the Janet Jackson nipple thing went on. NOTHING To see here either folks..... I guess no one goes to the beach either. Same difference, my biggest shock here is how embarrassed people are by the human body? I just don't get what all the "Shock Is About" It's a scary world where people are Shocked by things like this. I guess maybe people are ashamed of themselves or something and will pass this on to their children. Then they will see something like this and be embarrassed and not even know why. And then little boys will think oh this is a big deal I have to peak and see this stuff and hide that they like it and be ashamed that they do. But guess what we are wired to like it. We are supposed to be attracted to women. You go to Europe and sit at a nude beach someday. The ONLY Ones goggling are the Americans! But everyone else to Include the Kids don't give it a second thought. It's just normal, there's NO Shame and they don't go around giggling and blushing ect ect over it. My child was born there and had to be in a German hospital. I went to visit, women breastfed there with everything showing. Guys would introduce me to their family while the wife sat there TOPLES feeding the baby and didn't even so much as flinch or bat an eyelid when I walked in. So all I have left to say is Grow Up America! Stop being such prudes!!!!! If a little kid sees a candle on the table he won’t think twice about reaching out to touch it. You tell him it's wrong! If he sees parts of a women at the same age he thinks NOTHING of it! Until YOU make him THINK there's something wrong with it or HIM for looking then it goes downhill from there. Oh and for thouse that say move to Europe I am American ALL the way so the rest of you Grow Up!

  • Rick - 13 years ago

I for one am very happy Miss Munn decided to share her grooming habits with us. Out of all the useless information we are spoon fed everyday about Hollywood this is actually something I'm interested in. As a healthy red blooded American male I can honestly say "Who the hell cares about Paris Hilton's dog? when Oliva's kitty is so much more interesting"

And for all the guys out there that are saying "It is horrible that she did this." Either go get your wife's purse and reclaim your manhood from within it or look in a mirror see if the color matchs your eyes!

Miss Munn, you can share anything you like with me, Thank you for being so gracious.

  • BA - 13 years ago

Sorry Cynthia but you can only do so much. Teach them to be respectful of women and treat as equals. But when they get to the age their hormones instead of brain works first they will gawk at them.

  • Cynthia Shippee - 13 years ago

I have two underage boys who are impressionable when it comes to girls. I want them to grow up to respect women not see them as objects to gawk at.

  • Chicagoan - 13 years ago

For those who compare the United States the the Roman Empire... Rome didn't have 1/10 of the freedoms or respect for broad human rights as does the United States. While I don't read Maxim, nor would I want my daughter on the magazine, restricting people based on my code of moral ethics isn't going to compel them or anyone else to understand the reason WHY it's wrong. This is where the saying "Morality cannot be legislated" comes into place. We're all entitled to the pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness provided our pursuit doesn't infringe upon or defraud another person in their pursuit. Outside of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, where the knowledge of the glory of the Lord covers the earth as the waters cover the sea, our government is the best it gets in a corrupt world full of sinful men.

PS: Whether America stands or falls is entirely up to God. Eventually, every knee will bow and tongue confess; what's the point in obsessing about a magazine cover? It's not as though the outcome translates into the salvation of the nation. Bigger fish to fry brother... way bigger.

  • freethinkerinMO - 13 years ago

Who wrote this article? The last two paragraphs about Wal-Mart are a non story. You've made it sound like something important "Wal-Mart shoppers, for one, won’t see Munn in her unmentionables. . ." then you go on to tell the public it's because they have not carried the magazine since 2003. Could you not find anything else to say on the topic? Maybe go back to school and take a few more classes in journalism. This is garbage.
BTW She looks damn good on the cover.

Oh, I forgot....murder death kill is the only thing thats wrong with the world today! geez, now I get it! thanks GnA, now the world can become a better place since we will only focus on the murder death kill crimes in society! wow, I see the sun coming out now! Lets throw all moral values and principles out that dont pertain in just killing and harm, shoot while we are at lets legalize prostitution! Lets not be concerned with the ripple effect small things like pornography and "over sexed" media can play on society that can lead to violence (ie human trafficking and violent rape vidoes that are out in the black market) so dont sit there and say that people dont have a right to be concerned about a woman posing in her undies for all to see. Everything plays a part in the jacked up society we have become. I could be someone that doesnt support guns and think its a waste of time debating it, but you may feel very passionate about it and blog and comment on a post all day. If you think its so dumb why did you post? Yeah, cuz you've got an opinion on it and wanna make everyone else feel dumb for their opinions on this, well congrats, cuz you just filed yourself with the rest of us. Now go clean your pistol!

  • Vinny C - 13 years ago

How is this porn, exactly? Some of the stuff on Fox TV is waaaay racier than this cover. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it. You don't want to send your 10 year old nephew to go buy it for you but, this isn't material for them in the first place so the "think of the children" position is rather stupid.

    Get.over.it

    Also, she's G-dammn hot!

  • GnA - 13 years ago

With all the shootings and crime that are taking place everyday why are we so worried about a magazine cover? We are concerned about our children? Give me a break. I am a gun toting, 2nd amendment supporting, law abiding citizen and I can tell you, in all the horror over the years with school shootings, bombings, random acts of violence against innocent people, and the recent shooting in Arizona, never once have any of the suspects blamed a magazine or a picture of a half naked woman as being their motive to carry out these acts of violence. How bout lets look at some of the playstation and Wii games that teach our children how to run from and fight law enforcement and break the law. Grand Theft Auto for example. Lets take a look at you as parents and how kids are being raised these days and then you be honest with yourself when you say you are concerned about our children. This is the problem with our country right now. With all the chaos surrounding us, you people are concerned about a magazine cover. Pretty much proves to me that the majority of our society is becoming weak. I cant believe I have wasted my time even voicing my opinion.

  • John - 13 years ago

I think the pic is sexy as hell! However, it has no business in the view of children. It has gotten very hard to raise a child with all of the garbage that is continually dumped on us through every media outlet that you can think of.

I have listened to sports talk radio, and had to turn it because of male sexual performance commercials, with my 11 year-old son in the car. We have become so desensitized to all of the nudity and lewdness that our society has been heading own a slippery slope for years.

Let's face it, as hot as she is on this cover, no one needs to see that when walking around the store with our children, along with the sexual messages that come along with it; Threesomes included!

  • Daisyday - 13 years ago

Wow, I meant, men and their sex drives! Also, I think the word "threesome" across the top is a bigger problem then the girl in the photo....."Mom, whats a threesome?"

  • Daisyday - 13 years ago

This cover is racy, but I dont think that it is so bad it would be considered Playboy material. I think its fair to keep the magazine in places that children (even adults ) cant see it when they are in the check out. I used to live in Europe and it is so sad how their children over their no longer maintain their innocense...i saw a 8 yrs boy with a brow ring, a 12 yr old girl with a belly ring all becuase the societies over their teach their children about sexuality at a young age. Now, ask yourself, is teen pregnancy here in the US and in Europe going up? What about the spread of STD's? By exposing children to things like sex and violence does not create a more peaceful society, no, instead you get 12yr olds stabbing each other and shooting each other (London 06-08).
Simple solution, but it on one of the higher shelves in the book and magazine section and everyone is happy. Honestly, when I first saw this pic I was wondering what in the world was so bad about it and then i read all the posts and figrued it out...really not bad, and I really highly doubt that a young child that still has their precious innocense is going to notice alittle shadowing in the undies department. Lady GAGA posed nude on what, Vanity Fair and I didnt hear complaints like this, but becuase this magazine is targeting me and their high sex drive now its a problem. Honestly, I think that Cosmo is a bigger problem! Its pornographic what they say in there, not to mention they have stick figures in sexual positions! Can you imagine a child asking their mom "Whats an orgasim?" I think they would catch on to those racy words before they would notice how Ms. Nunn like her southern region groomed.

  • Roy - 13 years ago

Pretty sure the Vicoria's secret Tv commercial shows more than the Maxim cover of Olivia Munn.

  • Cara - 13 years ago

I seem to be reading mixed messages here. Many comments are being made about parents stepping up and taking responsibility for teaching their kids' values, yet we are then deriding for speaking out to object over that which we find detrimental to our efforts. I'm sorry if you don't like my low opinion of Maxim or its readers, but part of my job as a parent is to actively run interference between my kids and smut. Nudity is not the issue here; it's the way in which sexuality is being portrayed. If it were an issue of a topless woman in National Geographic, I would not care a bit. If you can't see a difference between the two, then nothing I say is going to change your opinion. You're just going to continue to use obscenities an look down your nose at those of us who think differently.

My question to everyone who thinks this magazine is great is this: Who is it hurting to cover this up so that only adults who want to see it can do so? Yes, we all know what we're getting with Maxim, and that's why it has no place on shelves which my six-year-old can reach. She is clearly not the target audience. This is an attractive young woman dressed provocatively in an attempt to arouse men and get them to open their wallets. If you're embarrassed to have to ask for a magazine that's in an adult only section, maybe your conscience is trying to tell you something. As for the beaches, yes, I think there are outfits there which I would not want my kids to see either. "Everyone else is doing it," has never been a mature, legitimate argument in any circumstance.

  • Mark - 13 years ago

For gods sake people...this is not vulger, rude, obscence or offensive in any way. If you dont like where its placed in the grocery store, tell your grocery store to move it or dont shop there. Its not the magazines problem.

This country needs to be more like the European countries in regards to nudity and sexuality. They dont teach their kids its wrong. They teach them that the body is beautiful. I just came back from Rome and, OH MY GOD!", I saw a breats on regualar TV. They surely get it. The most of you DO NOT!

  • Tony - 13 years ago

And yet Walmart and many other supermarkets will have Vanity Fair and other womens magazines with women in skimpy bikinis or even less right at the check out but this Maxim cover is too risque to have where it can be seen clearly on a magazine shelf? A great many people in the USA have gotten to be the biggest bunch of PUSSIES in the world!! GET A F%$#ING LIFE PEOPLE, nakedness is no big deal, go to Europe and see whats on TV or in magazines and what we have here is lame in comparison! The people in the United States really need to get over themselves with all the political correctness bullshit that has invaded the country, it's burying us alive in it, if you don't like the magazine, don't by it and don't look at it, get yourself a copy of Field and Stream instead and SHUT THE F!@# UP about what other people publish and others read and buy.

  • Ted - 13 years ago

    MeinNC-
You misunderstood my comment... It's published because everyone falls right into the trap and talks about it. I would have never seen or noticed the magazine had it not been for the "controversy" that many of you think there is.

As far as the EASY conversation I mention, that is geared to all the people who think this is so bad that they would demand it be removed from the shelves. Stop complaining and have the easy conversation with your child.

  • dmword - 13 years ago

If this needs to be put with Playboy then there should be a requirement that you need to be 18 or older to go to the beach.

  • bob smith - 13 years ago

LOOKS GREAT TO ME! ONE THING.. YOU FORGOT THE TOP!

  • Ironman - 13 years ago

Sexy woman!! I noticed the panties and aside from cleavage and panties, it is nothing more or less than if she had a bikini on. No "camel toes", exposed genetalia, etc. The only thing that can be gleaned otherwise is that the "runway" is bare.. And to all of that, I say, "So what!" If you don't like it, don't look! Do I want my kids looking at it? Not particularly, but then again, I don't buy stuff like this for them to look at.

  • Shane Lee - 13 years ago

I thought conservatives were all about freedom, liberty and business? This business is doing what it takes to make money, yet many of you want to censor their magazine. Stop being hypocrites and trying to limit freedom. If you don't like it, don't buy it. That's how the free market works, remember?

  • MeinNC - 13 years ago

Ted stated - Have you really lost your mind? They don't publish this magazine to make it an easy conversation with your child. This ragmag is marketed to young men. And they know that sex sells. THAT is why they put half naked women on the cover.

Getten - she is gorgeous because she is severely photoshopped/airbrushed - just like every picture in a magazine. You are NOT looking at a "real" untouched photo of what the magazine is trying to convince you that women should look like.

Martin - The conversations were not originally started about the cover articles. And while Cosmos articles are just as bad (if not worse) you don't see Cosmo with a naked or semi-naked man on the cover.

jgrill - Thank you! I was wondering how long it would take before someone mentioned the bad photoshop/airbrush job.

Nathan - You crack me up. You only mention VS after someone else did. LOL! Someone who already said they navigate as far away from VS as possible when they have their grandkids.

She is nice to look at if that's all you want to do and according to the link in the article she is also the new "Wonder Woman". She has a fresh potty mouth and she is clueless imho.

On this I agree with Judge Judy - Beauty fades but dumb is forever.

  • Sean - 13 years ago

I just wanted to comment on the whole Wal-Mart pulling the magazine from its shelves thing. Where I live Maxim is still sold on the magazine rack at Wal-Mart. They have sold it here for at least the past four years because you can't help but notice it on the front of the magazine rack when you shop for books. I guess someone should tell Wal-Mart that they still carry the magazine.

  • SanelyInsane - 13 years ago

Really? Something this minor is sparking this much of a reaction? "How do our young ladies learn what is acceptable for public wear?", "I would make a scene until the manager hid it"? Here's a novel idea: RAISE YOUR OWN KID! Don't let the media, politicians or "the village" raise your child! I have 3 kids, two who are adults, now. When they saw images like this and asked me or their mother about them, we explained and taught them that they need to make their own decisions aobut how they look, not follow in anyone's footsteps. Get a life, people! There are FAR more important things to get riled up about.

  • Michelle - 13 years ago

As the mother of a 3-year-old daughter, this probably should outrage me to no end. It should probably want to make me start some sort of parental magazine watchdog group to keep these kinds of images out of the general public eye. But it doesn't. Not even a little bit. I know I have seen worse at a waterpark or on a beach, and I definitely have seen worse on the front of Cosmo. If people think this picture of Olivia Munn is such a big deal they must have never seen the front of Hot Rod magazine. This picture is no big deal. Get over yourselves.

@liznneworleans: Olivia Munn actually does look like this. Do a google image search. She is stunning. Shes also a very popular actress and TV host.

  • Nathan - 13 years ago

There is more shown in the window displays of Victoria Secrets in our mall, but no one does anything about that!

  • liznneworleans - 13 years ago

I'm more concerned over the HEAVY photoshop "adjustments" making people think that this girl REALLY looks like this and is not normal like the rest of us.

  • yess4400 - 13 years ago

“Any store could have children coming in. If I were a parent, and I walked into a store and saw that cover, I would make a scene until the manager hid it," Gainor said.Wal-Mart shoppers.

I totally agree; and precisely why I walk my grandchildren through most Shopping Malls in a path that avoids Victoria Secret retail stores. Display all their models in their undies within the store, why do they have to be "curb side"?

  • jgrill - 13 years ago

First of all, that's a bad airbrush job. This broad was completely nude, waist down, for the shoot. Would all you deviants that buy this crap still purchase it if there was anything on this cover or in it besides brainless twits who can't make a living doing anything else? And as for this country being a joke, please move to a foreign country that isn't, Einstein. Oh, and let me say it before you call me a prude. After sixty two years on this earth, I used to be the type of deviant I referred to above, until I saw where this country was headed morally and politically. Do not label me with any left or right monikers, I am neither. I also have no rock solid belief in any big G little od. So, have at it.

  • Tom - 13 years ago

Absolutely nothing wrong with this cover. i cant wait until you old prudes die off and social norms begin to relax. there is ZERO nudity in this. Fewer and fewer people care about your stupid 1950's views of morality.

  • Martin - 13 years ago

Compare this to Cosmo and its front cover article titles "how to arouse him a 100 ways" or "how to give the perfect BJ" or "75 hottest sex moves" or "bad girl sex".

Cosmo is worse and no one complains and its at every check out.

    I like Maxim.

  • Ted - 13 years ago

    Tubanoiz :
When in the last 30 years can you remember a pop star, actor, etc who "served in the military and then came home to star in movies that uplifted our country and military..."? Furthermore, I've never seen Maxim sold in a place where my 6 year old can easily see the cover, it's usually just as provocative magazines such as Cosmo, or junk like the Enquirer that is seen. All this attention is EXACTLY why they put that on the cover! It's nothing more than an EASY conversation with your child. Stop being so offended by a picture of a woman who is no more covered than what is seen at the beach or the swimming pool and they'll stop publishing it. Their marketing worked!

  • fourTs - 13 years ago

to Tub-of-noise: do you really think anyone is going to read the novel you just typed up about a magazine cover? get a hobby

  • tim - 13 years ago

There is nothing wrong with that cover. If you think your children are already not exposed to things in the general everday school life, especially teen years, then you are fooling yourself. We, in this country, are a joke in regards to what we think is inappropriate.

  • matt - 13 years ago

Did any of you see the color of shirt she is wearing?? It's grey! That's the color of gloom and doom. The color of SATAN!! SATAN BE GONE!!

  • Tubanoiz - 13 years ago

To Dan: I am not a left-winger. However, if I was, the cover would be just fine because the left, in general, has been pushing an agenda of almost anything goes. It is the conservative or "right-winger" that believes our society should have standards. Those standards are not set by government (federal, state or local), they are set by parents and the community (and not "a village").

To Sandy: I couldn't agree with you more. It is the parents responsibility to establish and maintain appropriate standards in the home, including ensuring that our children understand what is appropriate behavior and dress for certain situations. It is not up to the government to set those standards, it is up to us. We have to take personal responsibility for our families and not continue to look to our government leaders to solve our problems. The challenge is that, in the past, families didn't have to fight the media, pop stars and others. We had movie stars that served in the military and then came home to star in movies that uplifted our country and military; we had music performers that did the same thing; we had reporters and news anchors that gave us the news as facts without injecting opinion. We also had a larger segment of our society attending church services on a regular basis. Those differences are all things that families have to deal with today and this magazine cover is an example of things that we shouldn't have to explain to our children who are exposed to it at a much earlier age than before. It simply makes it more difficult to parent and, when our children are "old enough (18)" to make those decisions, many look around at what others find to be acceptable and adapt. Some of that input comes from various media sources, including magazine covers like the one that Maxim has presented.

To Jeff: You are correct, the audience for Maxim magazine is not children, it is men. You are also correct that the magazine is not located in the children's aisle at the bookstore. However, it is in plain sight in the grocery stores. Next time you go to the grocery store, look at where Maxim, Cosmopolitan and the like are staged. It is at the check-out lane. How exactly is it that parents are to keep their children from seeing what is in plain sight? It is exactly that attitude that allows the boundaries that used to define public decency to erode bit by bit.

In the end, for all of us, the message that we can send is exactly what the free market dictates. Don't buy the magazine and write to the editor to express your views. And for those of you that don't think that what is on the cover of Maxim couldn't be on the cover of Playboy, you haven't looked recently. There are any number of Playboy covers that don't show full frontal nudity. The only difference is that they don't cover up with clothes, they cover up with their arms or other props... and the pose on the Maxim cover is probably less suggestive and provacative than a Playboy cover.

  • Peter - 13 years ago

What's the difference between this and Cosmopolitan (and other magazines)magazine covers with bold print topics such as how to achieve multiple orgasms, 10 ways to make your man happy in bed, etc. Maybe we can figure out a way to blame this on the Tea Party as well.

  • AS - 13 years ago

Maybe if parents spent more time letting teaching thier children what is appropriate, rather than letting society do it for them, then this would not be an argument. The cover is fine, and if anything shows that women can be confident and comfortable in anything. And shaming people into ignoring thier sexual desires or being ashamed of thier bodies is wrong. I am a mother with young children, who know that naked is not wrong, its natural, and that there is a time and place for all behavior.

As Justice Stewart said, "I know it when I see it." And, this is it. Put it with the other porn rags and keep it out of sight for me and my kids.

Want more proof, read the headline above the Magazine name. Any questions what this publication's focus is?

As a woman who is far from prude, I would like to make the comment that Olivia Munn is beautiful. I have no issues with Maxim Magazine, but I do believe for the lower level newsstand the cover photo is a little racy. It is not pornographic; it is not an obscene photograph. Yes, It might be lacking a little artistic merit but not obscene. And when you purchase Maxim you know what you are getting. With a photo like that why bother putting article titles or any writing on the cover! The photo and Magazine title are enough.
Hey, I think I am onto something :)

She's gorgeous. Enjoy what little beauty is in the world.

Please give it a rest already. I know America was founded by Puritans but its the PARENT's responsibility to instill some sense of decency that goes beyond look at a semi-nude to fully nude body.

Looking at a girl in lingerie or nude or porn isn't going to "corrupt" someone who had good values to begin with. Parent's whose children encounter these things out in the wild should take it as an educational opportunity and take the mystery out of it for their children. Once the mysticism is removed deviate interest you might say, goes away.

Get over it and enjoy the human form for a change. Da Vinci and Michaelangelo didn't seem to have a problem with it, nor the Vatican when works were commissioned for them.

Folks, look who the magazine is targeted toward. Ah, its not children and its not located in the childrens isle of book stores or the grocery isle. If your kids are looking or reading it then you aren't doing too good a job keeping an eye on your kids.

Have you seen what is on the cover of some women's magazines, look at Cosmo nest time u are in the store.

  • lol - 13 years ago

I think this Dan Gainor would rather see a near naked man on the cover.

  • random - 13 years ago

This is no worse than most bathing suits. That's it, parents shouldn't allow kids at the beach anymore!

It's okay to talk about violence in America 24/7. But then when a woman wants to show how good God put a body together people get all upset. Maybe if there were more naked women on television there would be less violence. Spread love by showing more skin. Look what naked women did for Hugh Hefner. He's doing a 24 year old.

People, you need a minute to sit back and reflect on the morals of your own life and what should and should not be suitable for your young ones. Teach them right from wrong and stop blaming society for your bad parenting. There is nothing wrong with this cover. The magazine has always done this with female celebraties and now you want to throw your hands up? please, give me a break. I don't know the last time my 8 year old looked at a magazine and said "that is what I want to wear" or "I want to be like her." My wife and I buy the clothes and she wears them. She doesn't get to choose. When she is old enough (18) she can choose to wear what she wants. I like to think we have taught her well enough to not want to wear those things but then again we like to think we are good parents. Start to look inside yourselves. This doesn't send a message, YOU DO! Remember that. Get over your hollier than thou attitude and don't buy the magazine or watch the show. Oh and by the way tell your wife not to watch most all of network tv anymore.

Hey Robert, why are you looking?

  • Robert Wade - 13 years ago

Typical, disgusting, animals. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. You are a big part of what's wrong with this world. You have no shame, no moral compass. The type of audience this magazine targets has nothing to do with any intelligent business. It's entirely about sex. The only difference between it and Playboy is degree of shamefulness. As a man--a REAL man--I'm sick of others of my gender showing how stupid and shallow they are. Try getting your heads out of the gutter, quit wallowing in the filth and rise to some level above the common stray dog. There is no socially redeeming value to this magazine and you are simply ignorant if you believe otherwise.

Tubanoiz shut your f ace you left winger, go hug a tree. There is nothing showing that would even compare it to a playboy mag. Stop letting the tv teach your kids and spend some time with them.

  • Ted - 13 years ago

It sells! If you don't like it, don't buy it! Teach your kids at home not in the media.

  • Jeff - 13 years ago

Do not have pictures taken that you are going to complain about. You cannot have your cake and eat it too! I'm sure she was paid very well for the pic.

  • Tess - 13 years ago

I like the Maxim Mag, and will admit some have been a bit racy, However, this cover would be going a bit too far. Why not have on a pair of Daisy Dukes versus the lacy? Why the lace like that? What message are you sending? What is this magazine about? What type of contents are on the inside? Is it about Sex or Music, Entertainment, other positive business ideas, etc? Make up your mind the type of audience you would like for the magazine to be geared towards. Take it off the shelf and redo the cover.

For the 75% of you that think the magazine cover is fine and to "stop being so prudish", what message are we sending our children concerning what is appropriate for public viewing? Where is the line between decency and depravity? How do our young ladies learn what is acceptable for public wear? These rhetorical questions should give us all pause as to what we will accept in the public arena in our society. As the father of three daughters, this is not the example that I want sitting on the magazine stand at the grocery store. If we continue to allow magazines and public figures (e.g., music performers, movies stars) define what is acceptable as the "norms" of society, then we have ceded any measure of control over standards of decorum in that same society similar to the fall from greatness of the Roman Empire.
