Doc, unfortunately Ted Williams record speaks for itself, and I hope he truly found God. If you ever visited the jails, all of the thugs will lead you on to the fact of how they found God there. Therefore if anyone cares to talk to GOD, please visit your nearest jail, because this is where all your thugs find him.

Doc, please stop and give the next homeless person a couple of bucks and he will say God Bless You, and be all gracious and extremely humble. Sit and wait around the corner, 10 minutes later he will be getting a fix or a 32 oz Malt Liquor.

Erik, some people have to learn from experience, but yet some people will never learn, let them be compassionate bleeding heart fool's, sooner or later they might see the light.

I think he is an inspiration to many homeless...I just hope his mother....stays away from him...she is very mentally abusive to him...and seems very high classed compared to dear Ted...he looked so hurt when his mom would say how embarressed she was of him holding that sign...and how he disgraced the family...oh my heart just broke for him....keep your head up Ted...

So glad for Ted! Wish him and Kraft all the best. However, having a little kid use foul language in the ad reflects poorly on the creative team.

I think some of you took my comments the wrong way, I have no problem with this man getting a second chance or getting redemption or even finding his way with religion. What I said was that this is strange that fools like Matt Lauer and company fawn over him like he is Nelson Mandela. Whatever the reason ( or excuses, as habitual drug addicts are full of) , this man personally made the decision to choose the selfish world of addiction over the responsibilties of life (9 children) . So sure it is great that this guy gets a second chance but if you dig some you will find that he has surely has blown his 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9th chances over the last 17 years. I just feel that if you want a truly feel good story about being discovered on the Internet, I prefer a story like the karioke (sic) from the Philipines that was discovered on YouTube and became the new touring singer for Journey since Steve Perry is not able to travel. back to Tom's latest comment. I did live in a very low income area in St. Louis and I now live in a very liberal upper class area and I see every day how the liberals bend over backwards and give their time and money to run homeless shelters and the local cops tell me that these "homeless" are not really homeless, they are just people who choose to do drugs instead of getting their act together and be accepted back into their homes. Remember, we are all good people and we all would do anything to help our family , so keep in mind that these people have done a litany of actions that have even caused their own family to turn them out. And of course they know that if they get the religious "god bless you" rap down pat, it will get them what they want. That's why I had to laugh at Matt Lauer getting all serious and say " I noticed you said god bless you, where does that come from?". Uhh Matt if you ever rolled your limo window down you would know that every panhandler says God Bless you, so no, I'm not a hater, I just like to make fun of limousine liberals.

Folks, the story is about redemption after making bad choices. To Tom and Eric, yes, I do know this type of person, and sadly, after choosing to throw their lives away with drugs and alcohol, most of them remain in the downward spiral of self-pity and self-loathing. What makes Mr. Williams story so compelling and so different is his work to achieve and maintain sobriety when there really wasn't any reason to. His faith in God, and in return God's faith in him, brought him to where he is today. And that, gentlemen, is the bottom line. Will he keep his sobriety now with all this fame and pressure to continue to be successful? No one knows, but the least we can do is hope and pray that he does. To put him down now is simply being mean. I hope and pray that's not how people treat you.

Ted has a great voice and wonderful on the ad. But don't like the tone of the ad, content with the family and kid is nonesense. Would not appeal to me at all if it were not for Ted. Because Ted is in the ad I'd buy the product; but the family and kid portion would not cause me to buy the product.

Erik the Red, great analogy! I appreciate the support. I bet when he falls off the wagon, Matt Lauer and the other liberal stations won't say a word.

n.knows-- Unless you have ever dealt with these kind of people before, you would not be so quick to disagree with me and Erik... Neither of us wish him ill will, but from my experience with dealing with these kind of people and knowing their patterns, tends to make me lean toward the negative verses the positive. If I am wrong, so be it, but warning to all those people who want to welcome him with open arms, I believe he will steal you blind.

Mr. Williams has 9 children who are now all grown, and he has been on the street since 1993. That is 17 years, and I bet he never provided monetary child support.... He is only 53 years old, so all the children had to be youngsters when he basically abandoned them. Not even his children want him around, which is why they have not claimed him. He has you all fooled with God Bless, and how long he has not drank, or done drugs. I bet you, the man was tanked the night before, and bet you he has not been clean for 2 years. My doubts of his sincerity come with experience, and I know a Con when I hear and see them, and he is a Con Man, just wait and see.

Kraft, a word to the wise, you need to dump him, before he tarnishes your reputation.

  • n.knows - 13 years ago

Okay, Mr. Eric. Well good for you. You don't live that type of lifestyle and you haven't gone down the road that Mr. Williams has--but have you ever heard of the "Prodigal Son". Why not rejoice and be happy for someone who has come out of a bad situation. It could have been you-and it could be you one day-you don't know. If it wasn't for God's grace--where would you be??

Aaaand--SHAME ON YOU HATERS AND NAYSAYERS! WOULDN'T IT BE EASIER TO JUST WISH HIM WELL.

  • n.knows - 13 years ago

How can anyone not be happy for Mr. Ted Williams. Everyone deserves a second chance. I am so thankful that he is sharing his testimony so that others can see God's mercy , His grace, and His unconditional love. God is AWESOME.

  • Erik the Red - 13 years ago

@Tom: thank you Tom, I was Beginning to think I was the only one that saw this as " hey, this guy had a great job and a family, and he PERSONALLY threw it all away for drugs and alcohol, not to mention several arrests for theft and FRAUD. so some feel good liberals like Matt Lauer want to make him a messiah, Im sorry I don't get it. I guess Im okay with him getting a second chance. But this guy is no angel, he threw his life away and now we are supposed to worship him? I'm sorry, count me out, I work 20 hours a day to keep 12 people employed, I avoid the attraction of drinking the stress away and no one is going to put me on the TODAY show unless I become a homeless bum ?

  • Tom - 13 years ago

I will agree he had a nice advertising voice, however I bail bonded for many years and know his talk about his demise over the years is probably true, however give him 6 months and he will be walking around like he is a pimp. The guy is a street thug, and drug addict with no chance in changing. How many of you have seen his children claiming him. Poor old mommy, is the only one who has came forward to claim him, but even she has her doubts. Experience tells me Mr. Williams will be back in jail within 60 days, this time on bigger drugcharges. Can't these companies wanting to hire him see he is a con-artist. Just mark my words.....

I really hope that Ted Williams succeeds. Indeed, he has outstanding voice, a lot of charisma and strength to be able to start rebuilding his life. My worry is that after experiencing years of social neglect and possibly abuse, he is becoming overwhelmed by so much attention. Today, on National Public Radio there was a comment that he already is experiencing some emotional difficulties with this amount of attention. We all wish him well. I think he should be left alone by the media for a while, until he settles down. Then, it would be fair to briefly check on him in a few months or even in a year.

Also, I would like to express my appreciation of the actions of the gentlemen who noticed Tedd Williams, made a video clip and posted on the web. He seems to have a truly kind and carrying heart. This is a rare quality. Too many of us are eater callus or are afraid to show kindness to another human being. Ted was on the streets for a long time, and I am sure he met and spoke to many people before.

Ted Williams does have a God given talent. But you know that there a few people out

there who are player haters. But God has bless him enormously, and in his voice

I hear a vision that way beyond his own understanding. I see his creative talent will

only lift him to higher levels in the future, depending what inspiring hands he fall under.

He is humble and there is not turning back, this is just the begining. He can even use

his voice in Simpson's or South Park.

Mr. Williams' story gave me goosebumps. That goes to show that being homeless does not have to define us. I would like to commend the person who posted it on Youtube. You have helped in changing a life for the better. KUDOS!! Thank you Kraft for giving him the opportunity. Like Don King said, "Only in America". What a great country:-))

Ted: I pray the Lord continues to bless you but more than that I pray He would put a hedge about you to protect from the evil one. Keep your eyes on Him because when you look down all you see is dirt. God Bless you.
