I am familiar with all three but dropped FW after a few weeks just to keep my life from being dominated by aquarium games. Here is my take on the ups and downs of each.

FV has the best side features unrelated to the main game. Collecting items, putting together goodies like seahorse stables, and the new battle arena are great features. I also like how Zynga makes things interesting day-to-day, changing things up for instance with special fish that might only be available for a few days. FV has the most realistic looking fish of the three games and also the biggest variety. The gift system is much better than HA. The key downsides for me: FV is annoyingly buggy, plus there are no fun little "training" diversions like the other two games.

HA has a slightly more cartoony feel than FV but I heartily disagree with the comments that it is more of a kid-oriented game than FV. It takes a lot more thought I think to actually play the game right. Allowing mating and eggs and the various nuances that go along with that not only gives the game play more variety, but also more of a challenge (and who doesn't love the little mating song?). Part of what makes it interesting and challenging is the thin profit margins in HA-- it's a lot harder to pile up cash and this causes you to think harder about things like profit per hour and the effect of the egg-laying failure rate. There's even more of a challenge to feeding the fish since it costs money and you don't just mindlessly mash the mouse key. Also, cartoony-ness aside, I think the aesthetics of HA are the best of the three games. The way the fish move and act is just plain prettier and gives the game a more "real" feel to me, despite the slight cartoony-ness. The variety and personalizations of the tanks is also better than FV, where sometimes all the tanks seem to look the same. I think the core features and main game play of HA are better than the other two. A key disadvantage of HA is the pearl system. You ONLY get pearls through leveling (you get one measly pearl per level, and those max out) or paying real cash. Decorating your tanks is also harder in HA, especially at the lower levels, since you cannot just stick your decorations anywhere regardless of gravity like you can in the other games (eventually, though, you can build platforms in HA). Also, all that pretty independent movement of the fish can come at the price of increased animation lag when you have a tank full of 40 fish.

Certain things about FW are significantly better than FV or HA. For instance, both FW and HA have fish training features (just as a side note, I think the above article is a little inaccurate in the suggestion that training in HA affects the profit you get from selling the fish-- maybe it should but it doesn't), but FW's is way more fun and repeatable. FW has other features which FV and HA are just lacking, such as the ability to connect particular music tracks with your individual tanks, and the ability to quickly jump over to the top rated tanks in the game to enjoy and get ideas. I also liked the "pull tab" lottery system for getting goodies. Others have commented on the ability to put items into inventory in FW, which is a big plus (HA not only doesn't have an inventory system, it doesn't even have a gift box system like FV). I also liked the "happiness" meter, giving you a profit incentive to decorate unlike the other games where decoration mostly just drains resources. FW clearly has advantages. Overall, though, to me FW just lacks the charm of the other two, a certain something difficult to explain. I was also put off by some of the over-the-top fish and decorations in the game, like the easter egg fish you start out with. And having no max on the number of fish in a tank sounds liberating, but I found its effect on game play a little annoying.

All in all I don't think you can go wrong with any of these addictive games. I personally prefer HA by a hair

I was introduced to HA by my daughter and still continue to play it today. I enjoy a game that i dont have to babysit constantly to get some where. I can come back when i get time hopfully each day. I have been getting some glitches game lock ups that iritate me possably because of the level i have reached. I have no way of knowing who to complain or inform the problem to. maybe a web sight that i know that problems would be taken care of would be very helpful to a player and to make the person happy and content to continious play.

I wish things were all in coins because I can't afford to buy anything. There are items I would like to have in my Tanks but can't have them because they cost $ which I don't have. This is not fair to people that don't have credit cards or to those who can't afford to buy in this manner.
I like Happy Aquarium the best of all 3 Fish games.

  • Megan - 14 years ago

FISHVILLE IS BY FAR THE BEST!!! Happy Aquarium and Fish World are so ridiculous and non-realistic, if I were a young child or preteen, I would enjoy playing this game. But for the older and majority of the users of facebook, Fishville should prevail. They use only existing fish, and they do their best to make them look like the real thing. I am a faithful Fishville user and enjoy the variety I get in Fishville, with the different fish, decorations, plants, creatures, etc. available to obtain, and the new tasks, free gifts, and opportunities to increase prosperity.

I play HA since several months, fishville since two weeks. so far, i prefer HA, because of the beautiful fish. feeding them is more natural than in fishville. some of the HA fish are too cartoonish. But most of them look very stylish, natural and beautiful coloured.

  • Dee Lori Delfs - 14 years ago

Happy Aquarium is my favorite game! It's my peaceful place, easy to play. Love to play around with all my tanks and decorate. I tried the others but they seem more complicated and little to fast pace for me. I enjoy the shell and egg collecting games a lot. I have 19 neighbors and fun to see what others do. Thanks for such a great program.

  • Nick Steel - 14 years ago

Of course Fishville is the best unlike the two games, fishville is almost realistic and fun to play with but the down side is that their is no quality options and my computer is uber lag D:

  • Wong Ming Guang - 14 years ago

FishVille has free sand dollars given and chances to get them though lotto + neighbors and self chest while HA has only pearls which they gotten 1 but u have to download the tool bar for 10 free pearls . The worst thing is once you run out of pearls u will be forced to buy them and if you dun have alot of time and money its better to play fishville .
Feel free to add me in fishville . I,m lv43 in HA and lv47 in Fishville see the differences and cloning fish is the best feature created in fishville if you brought a sand dollar fish you just need to clone them without using any cash but ha even if you have 2 pearl creature with different gender mostly needed pearl to mate and buying them ain't cheap .
DO NOT COMPLAIN this is only my personel opinion .

  • Anna-Lee - 14 years ago

    Fishworld is so left behind!

  • Sandra - 14 years ago

I am sick and tired of trying to play FV and it not working well. I haven't figured out yet how to sell the fish I no longer want and keep selling fish that are gifted to me because I haven't figured out how to sell them once you accept them. The game is somewhat boring. Not enough cool things given to beautify your tank. I am strongly thinking about abandoning my fish as I am really getting fed up with the way FV is always screwing up. Just my opinion!!

  • sheccid - 14 years ago

the best is happy acuarium really , is very cool and cute sometimes is bored but is the best.
fishville is horrible and....... wuiiiii!!!! xD sorry bad happy acuarium is the best =)

  • Ryan - 14 years ago

I havnt triend fishvill nor fish world...so far i love HA lol

  • Renee - 14 years ago

I play all 3 games. Although each has it's pros and cons, I prefer Fish World!!! Neighbors can revive as many fish that are dead in all tanks, even. The tanks can be decorated with backgrounds, and items. Tanks can be added/bought at a more acceptable pace!!! You can raise over a hundred fish at a time per tank. They have different growing times, clearly defined, for planning. MANY fish to choose from that are VERY good looking. There is a breeding lab where u can mate different fish species to come up with your own concoction (can get very interesting results). There is a FANTASTIC inventory system where u can trade out and/or store items and even fish, too. You can earn extra coins when u clean neighbor's tanks and such. It can get boring at times, like every game out there, but then it picks up with new fish and themes to work with. Only one fish can be stolen per neighbor, per day and u r given a chance to steal it back, or u can get a "security" fish so they cannot be stolen. My only "complaint" or "suggestion" would be to add goals/missions, like in Fish Life, (a game u didn't explore in this throwdown) where u, for example, have to have a tank with x amount of a certain fish in order to achieve an award towards leveling up. On another note. I really HATE all the clutter that accumulates in FishVille, and u can't do anything with it except delete. I could go on, but that's enough said. lol

  • Korab - 14 years ago

I vote for Happy Aquarium. I think it's the best one.

  • JB - 14 years ago

I have played all three games. I stopped playing all three for a time too however I recently went back to HA. The game has evolved quite a bit from the last time I had played and its great not to come back to dead fish that arent worth anything anymore.

  • Fish Villager - 14 years ago

Fishville rules! They get lottery too & you get sand dollars. Very colorful tank designs, nice fishes that are not too cartoonish. Loads fine & not too slow. Not too many pop-ups. Comes up with contests, new features & gimmicks everytime. Listens & gives surveys to players. Fishville is my game. =)

  • HEMA - 14 years ago

I LIKE HAPPY AQUARIUM, IT'S MORE BETTER THAN FISHVILLE . SO I VOTE FOR HAPPY AQUARIUM.

  • Court - 14 years ago

not even a comparison - happy aquarium all the way

  • Chris - 14 years ago

Ive been playing happy aquarium for 7 months now, and i honestly prefer it over fishville. Happy Aquarium is not as kiddy as some may think, because in order to profit and level up fast, you need to understand the ratio of how to do so. It pretty much is, the amount of money you have versus space in your tanks, and how many fish you can buy of one particular type to fill every tank, with the shortest growth period on that fish. After repeating, your money grows, potential to raise more higher fish, expand your tanks to hold more fish. It really is a strategy ive loved all this time, level 53 with 855,344 coins. I think the only reason people like fishville is their loyalty to zynga with farmville, that alongside their brain not being able to withhold the strategy capacity for happy aquarium. And btw, You can be way more decorative with happy aquarium =D, fishville blows for that.

  • Dann - 14 years ago

    Happy Aquarium is the best

  • ine - 14 years ago

I love Happy Aquarium, I left Fish Ville because it was boring and always make me worry of dead fish. HA is more simple, more 'life', tricky for strategy but so much fun. and moderators are so cooperative.

  • Sue - 14 years ago

I have played Fishville and Happy Aquarium. I love Happy Aquarium! It's easy to play, has enough variety for my taste, and you don't have to sit in front of the computer waiting for the proper time for things to mature (my main gripe about the farm game that is so popular).

  • Mayur - 14 years ago

yeah so i've played all thre games.i played H.A. for like a month .. and i ocasionally go on but it's not at fun as it used to bee and its wayy to hard to level making it .. boring... no offence to all the fishworld lovers but that game is plain boring!! i played it for a week but its way to boring! just seeing the title fishworld makes me mad! heck id rather play a game like mafia wars then that!!so, my vote obviously goes out to fishville ive played it for 9 months and haven't got bored with it!! and unlike the other twoo earning real money is easyy! fishville is by faqr the best game i have played on facebook!

fishville stats: level: 48 cash: 2million tanks: 7 sandollars: 40

  • Els - 14 years ago

I tried playing fishville but fish die while in happy aquarium i don't spend the year infront of my laptop on facebook!
    FISHVILLE SUCKS

  • Ruby - 14 years ago

I play all 3 games, and they all have their pros and cons. I have played Fish World for the longest and like their inventory system, and their breeding tank. I go to Fishville first as I have played it the shortest length of time, and it hasn't becoming boring. I like the way you can breed your fish in Happy Aquarium. In all 3 games my complaint is that there are some items or fish only available with 'pearls',' fishbucks',"sand dollars" etc. The games would be perfect in my mind if I could use my "coins' or "earned money" to purchase the other currency. It would give added incentive to play.

  • Kendra Purtell - 14 years ago

I play all 3 and while they each have their pros and cons, Fish World is by far my fav. I love the fun and decorative stuff! I'm not so concerned that all the fish are real looking bcuz it's a game. I get bored with HA and Fishville, but Fish World always seems to have something new. Plus u level up quickly and lots of ways to make money (coins). Wish could earn dollars more easily. Oh-lastly, LOVE the shark!! If u haven't seen it in action, check it out. ;-)

  • Marie - 14 years ago

I LOVE FISHVILLE!!! Tried the other two, but too boring and H.A. is for kiddies. lol I had a real aquarium yrs ago and Fishville makes their virtual fish move and act just like real ones, like coming up to water surface for air and swimming slower or faster after eating. Neat! they have nice plants and decos also, but the nice stuff costs too many sand dollars and they make it hard to acquire them. Also, they should have storage so we can keep the stuff we purchased. Oh, and those spinner treasure chests? I'd say maybe once out of 20 spins it lands on a sand dollar. Not fair. The need to be a bit more generous with them, but all in all ... FISHVILLE RULES!!!

  • dennis - 14 years ago

played all three hated fish world and HA. fishville is the best even when things don't work right. have several friends that i work with it has become a race to c who can level up the quickest. when we all work together that all you hear is fishville this and fishville that. i even got my parents to do it. fishville is the best. proof is in the voting

  • sarah odum - 14 years ago

I have played all three games and after a little while i became tired of all of happy aquarium's and fish worlds short comings. the poll results are proof that the last two games are just fundamentally flawed.

  • Ryan - 14 years ago

I vote for fishville because you can sell your fish ,upgrade your tank, revive your fish( cost sand dollars) and more and more decorations and plants and more and more fishes!!! besides,in fishville, you can get more fishes by the fish mastery! and you can move your plants and decors in any tanks! even if you need neighbors to upgrade your tank,at least the treasure chests thing, you have a chance to get sand dollars, the boxfish, coins and xp ! thats why I am level 62 now!! compare to happy aquarium, you can train your fish but its just a waste of time! there is a treasure box thing too,but you can only win coins that are lower than 200 coins(but sometimes 200+ ) its so slow to sell fishes! and the fishes die too,but it will take 1 month or 2.. in fish world, its so boring! fishes die too,but you can revive it! they even use coins to upgrade their tanks! (like fishville, happy aquarium) and fish world is so boring for its fishes, plants and decors. so fishville is the best fish game in facebook!!!!!!!!!! (my opinion) thanks!

  • June - 14 years ago

Fishville is my favorite, but I like HA,BUT IT TAKES TOO LONG TO LEVEL UP

  • Jeanne - 14 years ago

I haven't played Happy Aquarium so I can't comment on that game, however I prefer Fish World over Fishville for the following reason. I'm not limited to how many tanks or fish I can have at any given time because of how many neighbors I happen to have. That is the one thing that really sucks about most of the games I play that I can't get a lot of the stuff I want or need because of lack of neighbors. This is true in Fishville where I can't upgrade my tanks unless I have a certain number of neighbors or can't unlock certain fish without a certain number of neighbors. That's why I prefer FishWorld, even though I do enjoy and play both. IMHO :)

  • yuiyu - 14 years ago

    obviously fishville daaa

  • Nadine Alldridge - 14 years ago

I really love both Fishville and Happy Aquarium, but Fishville is best. the only thing that Fishville needs to be perfect is a way to store items currently unused. Right now you have to sell anything you can't use or don't have space for.I wish I could give away some things to friends I no longer need...can't do anything but sell them. Happy Aquarium doesn't have inventory, either. The best thing about HA is you can mate your fish and sell them when grown for profit. you can't do this on Fishville, however, if you played correctly the last promotion you have some CLONING ability to copy fish with.

Ono the other side, Fish World has ALL the things that the other two do not. Among them a great inventory system which allows you to take everything, including fish, out of a tank and store it for later use. this enables you to do seasonal tanks, which they offer and the others do not, then put them away until the next time. They also have a unique way to GIFT your friends anything you have in your tank. I have had several friends who have quit playing and gifted all their fish and accesories to their friends. I sure wish the others would do this.

But Fish World has become boring. Lots of offerings for different themes and backgrounds, but that's it. Happy Aquarium is getting close to this, too. Also, HA takes FOREVER to move up. Fishville definately rules here. You can move up quickly by breeding the right fish in your tanks and selling them after 24 hours. But the game play is great, too. Always changing which keeps us entertained and looking forward to continuing.

Just my two cents, whatever it's worth.......
