I understand using parallels but there is such a thing as overuse which stuck me as the case here.
It seemed that the writers just wanted a quick and dirty way to get an OMG!!! reaction from us--as the LOSTies themselves seemed almost nonchalant about Ilana going BOOM!
ZR's character was completely wasted by the writers which is a shame-- but nothing new in the LOST-verse.

Everything repeats itself. Ilana blowing up is the companion "deja vu" to Artz blowing up. Look back to older episodes and notice how many things are paralleled.

The writers could have been more imaginative in her whole storyline! What was her purpose!?

I didn't like Artz getting blown up....I enjoyed Ilana getting blown up. The island was done with her...and poof...she was gone.
