I grew up in the South and still live here...I had ancestors that fought fr the Confederacy and still have no idea why the Federal government didn't consider all Conferates traitors-which they were- and at least not severely punish the leaders' Then allow them to retake control because the Republican Party wantethe 1876 Presidency so bad. Confderates got off easy and it should just go away-like Nazi Germany

I think McDonnell should not have proclaimed "Confederate History Month."

It's almost as stupid as the Che imagery Obama fans love so much.

Look, you just can’t hide from Che’s history. It’s like putting a David Duke for President bumper sticker on your car and then explaining that for you, personally, it’s just about traditional values and not about white nationalism. It’s like flying a Hezbollah flag and just claiming that you’re not for terrorism or wiping out Israel, you’re just opposed to Zionism. This swastika tattoo? Why, it’s just a Hindu/ American Indian good luck symbol, friend–not a Nazi thing at all. Shame on you for thinking so.

“’The Negro is indolent and spends his money on frivolities and booze, whereas the European is forward-looking, organized and intelligent.’”

“’The negro has maintained his racial purity by his well known habit of avoiding baths.”

Maybe this will serve a useful purpose in opening the discussion on States Rights and an over zealous Federal Government.
To deny History is to relive it. Washington is poised as it was in 1858 for a large uprising if the political types are not voted out in 2010. People are ready to VOTE to disband much of what could lead to a Civil War in what is now a very fractured Nation. We need Statesmen not hacks in all elective offices from dog catcher up!!!!!
