Tiger Woods does not owe me, or anyone else except his wife, immediate family, and business partners, an apology, or even an explanation, for his personal life. There is not a man or woman alive that does not deal with their own set of demons in their personal lives.
I admire Tiger for his ability to play the game of golf. Tiger Woods' will learn to deal with his challenges in his personal life like most of have done. I have seen young men with far fewer resources and opportunities make mistakes like this during my life. More often than not, they become better, more charitable and humbler people, as a result of of making serious mistakes. People that have never made any serious mistakes in their lives are typically arrogant human beings. They are also past masters of lying to themselves.
My children used their their mother, me, their family, and friends they respected as role models for their value systems. Celebrities they never met did not set the standards for them. Tiger Woods is an admirable role model for me for playing the game of golf; however he has zero impact on my value system, or that of my children.
I find it wise not to change places with other people. I look at what Tiger Wood's has done and say to myself that I have no idea of the temptations he dealt with given his celebrity status and resources. Hopefully this will help us all recognize that our personal decisions can, and often will, hurt the people we love most, not just ourselves.
It takes a good man or woman to hold their head up and forgive an otherwise good spouse even if no one knows about it except the couple. I have an extremely high regard and admiration for couples like Frank and Kathie Lee Gifford for staying the course to keep an otherwise wonderful marriage and family together after they went through a similar situation. It takes a lot of character and very mature people who recognize that no one is perfect to hold am otherwise good marriage together after something like this made public.
I hope Tiger and his wife can accomplish the same if they feel their marriage aside from this heart breaking situation is a good marriage. In the long run they will both be the better for staying the course if this is the case. I wish Tiger Woods and his family nothing but the best and wish the best for each of them and their families.
