I would have simply done what you ended up doing- buy the cheaper suit at the store then return the more expensive one; but i wouldn't have gone thru the hassle of asking for a credit first. It is a common practice for large chain stores to charge different prices in different areas, depending upon each particular area's current economy or local competition. I often find merchandise cheaper in my local stores than online, which seems to coincide with the lower cost of living and lower salaries found in my part of the country.
