Ya'll bunch of slack-jawed faggots. Health care is a way for everyone to get the care they need. Other countries have such a better health care system that people receive better care when they are on vacation. Places like Japan, France, England, even Cuba have FREE healthcare. FREE Universal healthcare for anyone. Anyone living in their country or just in it. The only reason this isnt happening here, is because Americans, myself included, are lazy.

Redistribution of wealth is a necessary event to ensure that the gap of inequality doesn't widen, as it has for 3 decades. I will be impacted by this legislation more than most reading this because I sit right on the edge of the line where the taxes will be kick in. I WILL notice this in my finances, believe me. It WILL impact my spending. However, I am making decisions about whether or not to buy one luxury item over another. I will not face the choice of whether to pay the gas bill or go see the doctor for a mysterious pain. I don't have to decide between buying food or buying medication. I will not face the difficult choice of taking an extra job and sacrificing time with my family or providing health coverage for them.

For all those that have had to make those decisions in the past, I am someone that will have to make changes in my finances to pay for this and, you are welcome. Welcome to my world where you will not have to make these choices any longer! Congratulations!

Why does the President need to "sell" this bill that has just past? He been campaigning for this bill from day one. Still Like Pelosi's comment about the bill. "We will now find out what is in this bill." Interesting Obama riped Hillary on using Mandates to fine people during there Democratic primary, and now is using them in this bill. Government will try to squeeze the insurance companies out of business, so they can take over- single payer plan. Clearly a Socialistic plan, where is "Joe the Plumber"? He was right. This is not America, and definitely not capitalism.

The US has one of the most expensive health care systems in the world and yet ranked just 37th out of all nations in health care, according to the last available WHO survey.

At one time in this country people wanted to be self sufficient. This bill is another step toward an entitlement based society in America. More and more people are buying into the notion that government should provide what they need. No government program has saved money or paid for itself. Once again the people who have the audacity to work hard and try to get ahead will end up paying for the non-contributors.

12 million illegals will soon get anmesty against what the majority of americans want also. Reward people for breaking our laws? Whats the country turning into?

  • Obamaisacrook - 15 years ago

Do you people that say, oh this is for america and the people. Do you realise that people with no insurance still get treatment. They dont get turned down for healthcare. Obama is now hiring over 7000 armed IRS agents to enforce this and come to your house if necessary and fine or imprison you. Open your eyes.

Agree with the comment above, this is NOT welfare or "entitlement" this is desperately needed help for working class people! Companies and insurance companies have figured out numerous ways to deny insurance to hard working people, only hiring part time, increasing premiums for using the insurance you're paying for, cutting off your insurance if you get seriously ill, even deciding to fire or not hire anyone with a "pre-existing condition"! If people aren't healthy, they can't work, they can't make money to put into the economy, they declare bankruptcy from medical bills (80% of all bankruptcies are related to medical costs!) and when enough people declare bankruptcy or have their homes forclosed on, guess what happens? We tax payers pay even more to bail out the banks!!! ITS ALL CONNECTED! and we desperately need Health Care Reform!!!!!

Bad news for all!! Just one step closer to loosing our freedom that this country was founded on and so many Americans have fought and lost their lives for! Gov will have their hand in everything, forcing you to see a doctor when you don't need to and not letting you see one when you need one. Not to mention the seriously flawed thinking that our politicians used to come up with the funding of this bill. One natural disaster, one change in the economy, one unforeseen event and all the "reduction" in the deficit is gone. A sad day for the USA.

"In reality, if you strip out all the gimmicks and budgetary games and rework the calculus, a wholly different picture emerges: The health care reform legislation would raise, not lower, federal deficits, by $562 billion," former CBO director Douglas Holtz-Eakin opined in The New York Times.

This bill is very very bad? Just because the economy sucks, doesn't mean they have to do this.Don't worry about this "bill".President Roosevelt didn't do this. I miss him. Just remember America, "The only thing we have to fear is fear it's self",says FDR. -Ben

For those supporting this bill: If you really knew what was in it you wouldn't be. MT is right. This is not about healthcare, it is about power and big government. The White House is full of Marxist. Just wait and see.

Absolutely good-finally the people are represented.

I have a sister who's made one bad choice after another in her lifetime. She is now 62 and has NOTHING, and is one step away from living under a bridge. She had pneumonia a year ago and was in the hospital for two weeks. She got great care and didn't pay a dime - the taxpayers did. People who cannot afford healthcare are not turned away. Obamacare is NOT about healthcare for everyone. It is about power and big government - people who believe otherwise are FOOLS.

Unfortunately, our democratic representatives, Mr. Braley and Mr. Loebsack have decided that they know what we want better than we do. We can show them that we are still capable of making decisions next November by voting them out of office. They have let us know that they can't be trusted to represent us.

This does little to nothing to fix the system's real problem. There needs to be aggressive cost control in place otherwise the government portion is going to spiral upwards. Our tax burden is going to continue to increase and we will be left with less for ourselves to control unless we start holding our government responsible. Change is needed but we need to get the money out of politics before that change can happen. We will never see truly sensible reform that favors the average citizen over the corporate power until that happens.

This is BAD, BAD, BAD. Whats next, TV and free cable for all? I think everybody in the US should be required to buy a car from GM.....

The quality of health care many recieve in the US is probably the best in the world, nobody is arguing that. What Republicans and Democrats agree on is that the healthcare system is broken. I know many hard working people who can't afford the insurance premiums they are required to pay through their employer in order to have insurance, so this healthcare plan is not welfare, it is a plan that will help many working class people who can't afford the outrageous insurance premiums charged by the insurance companies. Let me give you two of many examples:

1 - Supervisors at my former employer earn a meager $25K per year as a starting wage, but the insurance premiums cost as much as $600 a month for a family. That is 30% of their monthly income just to insurance premiums, not to mention what they might have to pay in copays or coninsurance.
2 - My sister is a dental hygienist who has to work 2 part time jobs at 2 dental offices because most dentist don't hire full time. She is not offered health insurance at either locations because she is "part time" and cannot afford to pay for private health care insurance. She works hard, is paid well, but the cost of health insurance for her and her two children is simply not affordable for her.

I hope that some people open up their minds and realize that this healthcare bill is not welfare or a free handout. There are millions of hard working Americans who need this.

  • James Santee - 15 years ago

this is nothing more than redistribution of wealth, those that work will be responsible for those who don't. it is just an extension of welfare for those that don't want to work for a living. Osama Obama is buying votes by giving health care to his welfare recipients and the illegal aliens. this is not good for the working americans who will be footing the bill for the 35 million uninsured who expect everything to be handed to them by the government. Our health care has always been the best in the world but all of a sudden it is a terrible thing. What is wrong with you people that think this Chicago thug who has never worked a day in his life would know what is best for America?

I am a nurse and have worked for 25 yrs and have taken care of patients in the home and hospital. The biggest problems in both areas is the government driven system (medicaid medicare) already. They have driven up cost by being driven by more complicated paper work and rules that is irrational rather than health personnel directed. I am happy that the UK person is happy with her family's healthcare but there is more to this. FREE is a deception of the worst kind. I care for people now who have no health care, state papers. I care for people who have lost their insurance because of all the reasons you can come up with. They still got healthcare.

This is a big step for the US. Finally health care will be available to all who need it. The Republicans claim that this will add to the number of people waiting in line to see their Doctor is correct, since now waiting for a critical condition to force use of the ER for treatment will be eliminated. Care will be available, in advance, at the doctor's office. How anyone can think denying health care is a good thing eludes me. My congratulations to the Democrats that voted for the bill and shame on you to the Democrats & Republicans that voted against the bill. It is time for our Congress to understand that their job is to represent me not the corporations & lobbyists. The Republican party is wrong when they say the American people are against Health Care reform. Unfortunately, we, the supporters, just haven't been as vocal. I'd rather see my taxes spent on health care than war. Congratulations to the United States of America - Well Done. Keep up the good work President Obama & the Democratic Party.
