Getting a serious congenital heart defect & several open-heart surgeries while self-employed @ 51 have allowed Blue Cross to jack my health care insurance & health care more than 10 fold. My personal costs for health care exceeds 35% of my average income & I don't dare change from BC's highest level of coverage. It's disgusting to hear the Conservative leaders, members, followers & "lunatic fringe" with their twisted chants, ominous warnings of government costs & socialism, obstructions, special interests & now the prophesy of GOP's Armageddon.

Health Ins should not be "For Profit" of Giant Corporation,s greed that neither consumer nor government have any degree of control. However, if "Government" did have a handle on policy, availability & cost; any error can be corrected by citizens as voters who exercise their Constitutional Right for a chance to some change & control. This matter is not Liberal or Conservative, it is Democracy & American! We all have a Right to the Pursuit of Life, Liberty & Happiness--which implies access to affordable Health Care & being healthy. This HC bill is a start of long, overdue Reform that Americans deserve.

    Another former Republican, San Diego.
PS: "Rush" says he'll leave the US if the Health Care bill passes. Send him to Juarez, MX for a 6 month vacation.

Not only will I automatically vote against any legislator that opposes this bill, I will also send funds to defeat vulnerable candidates elsewhere -- Democrats in primaries, Republicans in general elections -- who oppose it.

The Republicans, the insurance companies, and other special interests have blocked sensible reform for generations, so that the US has by far the most expensive health care system in the world, but gets mediocre results for those covered and doesn't cover way too many. It's a scandal, and this bill -- a watered down partial fix -- is only the first step we need.

In Virginia, Jim Webb needs to find a new job if he voters for this...... we are watching all United States House and Senators. We will vote according to their vote.

·Any New York representative who votes for this with its preemption of community rating and HNY will lose his or her seat and deservedly so.
