I prefer colored. With clear you just see the clutter in a box. With colored you can conceal personal items from view of houseguests and repair people. A label or color-coded boxing system helps you tell what is what without opening everything up or letting the unsightly be seen.

It's nice to see what's inside. Unless I'm trying to hide something, clear is better. That way, I can see if a particular container has what I'm looking for without having to open it up.
