Do you think the Waking The Dragon tower would benefit Wrexham?

Chirk is the ideal place for the dragon - right on the border, in a beautiful area with many tourists (world heritage site, llan, chirk castle, aquaduct, viaduct etc) so it would actually serve its purpose - BRING THE DRAGON TO CHIRK :-))))

fantastic idea , a lasting image for all to see, but i have to agree with some of the comments, that it should be closer to wrexham, for instance in the field on the left coming off the A483 onto gresford roundabout from chester. what a statement that would make. you are now entering the biggest town in north wales.and proud to be welsh

What a fantastic idea! Just imagine travelling from Oswestry direction on the A5 (which becomes the A483 at Halton roundabout) from the Gledrid roundabout and seeing the Dragon towering down as you reach the top of the hill by macdonalds Halton/Chirk.

@ Paul - Chirk has always been in WALES and is part of the County of Wrexham. The A5/A483 crosses the border into Wales on the bridge over the river Ceiriog.

I agree with Paul it should be built nearer to Wrexham as we are often told that Wrexham is the gateway to Wales. I also think that more traffic uses the A483 than the A5.

well paul you will find that CHIRK is in wales always has been in wales and borough of wrexham, not 6 miles away from the suggested site is llangollen a place with a high volume of visitor from all over the world EVERY summer for its beautiful surroundings and 6 miles the opposite way is the beauty of the countryside and then 10 minutes up the road is a great town wrexham. i personally think the suggested site is the perfect location for "waking the dragon" what a great welcome to wales that would be!!!

The proposed statue is an excellent idea, and the choice of site is ideal to ensure maximum impact on all the visitors to Chirk, Llangollen, Froncysyllte and Wrexham. Let us all show we are proud to be welsh.

We are a very proud small nation, and we should show off our heritage. We have thousands of visitors to Wales as it is, and this would bring in even more visitors to our area. This could/would tie into our other tourist site's ie Castle, Fron aquaduct, etc.... I think this is great news. And we would even create more jobs at the same time. Exellent.....

This is very exciting and must go ahead. A modern symbol for north wales to be proud of. Beats the angel of the north hands down!

Fantastic News if built, But it MUSH be built in Wrexham not Chirk, the A483 not A5. Wrexham is the capital of North Wales & might become a City in 2012, So it MUST be build on the border with england on the A483 ONLY, we always get a raw deal in wrexham, we are Welsh, build it on our land, not on Chirk Land.
