Should the Cavaliers trade Zydrunas Ilgauskas and J.J. Hickson to the Suns for Amar'e Stoudemire?

Are you guys serious?? Make that trade ASAP if Kerr is foolish enough to make it. Hickson for Amare is a definite no brainer. I recall a year ago when we had the best record and all this chemistry and didn't pull the trigger on the Shaq trade. We stayed pat. What happened?? We got exposed by Dwight Howard and had to double/triple team him that opened up many of 3 point shots. As you see this year, if we made the move for Shaq last year, we would be talking about a REPEAT as NBA champs..

Chemistry is not an option to go anywhere with Lebron James as your leader. He hasn't had a problem with a teammate since Ricky Davis in his rookie year. Make the trade and get Z back in 30 days. I appreciate Z playing his whole career in Cleveland, but lets be real, he didn't have options to leave. When we resigned him in 05, teams were not pursuing him because of his injuries. He's here cause he loves the city, but also by default.

MAKE THE TRADE, MAKE THE TRADE.. The Celtics didn't have a problem with their big 3. Allen and Pierce weren't known for defense, but to win a title they learned quick. Lakers don't seem to be having a problem. Pau Gasol won all of nothing in Memphis, but he learned quickly... LET'S GO CAVS!! Lebron knows these players inside and out and if he wants Amare, I trust him.. He wanted Shaq and that's worked out wonderfully to spite all the nay-sayers

oh, and the big 3 in cleveland would actually be lbj, mo, amare...mo is clearly better than shaq(at this point of his career) so mo gets the edge, love you shaq :)

    GO CAVS!!!!

    cavs-jj-z+amare+z=championship

always follow the math. doesnt matter how many times you use the same variables the end result stays the same

We have the rights to Wally Sczerbiak, and the Suns would be the dumbest franchise in the history of the NBA if they traded their All-Star forward for Big Z and Sczerbiak. Amare is the type of player JJ is going to develop into...moves well without the ball, dominates close to the basket and is good on the pick and roll...only difference is that Amare has a jumper, which JJ is still working on. Essentially we are getting an older, more polished JJ who is stronger and will make the pick and roll with Lebron practically an unstoppable play (Lebron makes those pocket passes just like Nash and Amare feeds off of that) If you don't want this trade then you don't want to the see the Cavs win it all. Amare gives the Cavs another superstar, and we'll get Z back in 30 days. PULL THE TRIGGER BABY!

I could see Amar'e, Shaq, and Lebron as the big 3. but why trade him for hickson? that would be young talent going to waste at phoenix

J.J cant make a 15ft.Superstars win championships and amare will be LBJs Scottie Pippen.Enough said get the deal done.

Don't be greedy! Believe in the players that you started with in October. DON'T MESS UP the CHEMISTRY! Leave it alone and show Z that he deserve to be in cleveland and celebrate being CHAMPIONS! GO CAVS!

This really amazes me that you would not want to trade amare for hickson lol. So what you are saying is that you will never accept another big name player on our team to go along with Lebron because YOU don't think he will accept a "role" lol. I really hope this trade goes down.

I don't pretend to know much about the game. I learn something new each time I watch. But this much I can tell...this trade doesn't feel right. Why mess with what works? The chemistry is there, the rhythm is there. I don't think Mr. Stoudemire will play well with others, and I don't see him TRULY understanding who runs this team. Hopefully Z will be back in 30 days, but being a cautious optimist, I trust no one. Of course, if one of the stipulations of Z coming back is Lebron signing off on the trade, Mr. Ferry (who wasn't too smart a player), would be out of his mind not to bring him back. But then what do I know...I just look from Sandusky at what goes on in Cleveland. And when I go to my first Cavs game in 30 years on Thursday night, if Z isn't there it will be a little bit of a letdown.

Ben, I think you need to read up on the salary cap and "Bird rights" a little. Kiki Dee makes some good points. The main issue with the Cavs is that "Z" is their last trade bait for the next year. If they don't make a trade now they can't because even if "Z" and Shaq are off the books next season and don't return, the Cavs are still too close to the cap to sign a free agent, let alone a good one. They're stuck with that roster. Plus, Amare may make it more difficult for LBJ to want to leave, he's only a year older than LBJ and will be in his prime for the next 5 years. It may be worth Hickson and the risk to bring Amare in. Plus, "Z" is coming back in 30 days after his buy out. That much is certain.

i agree with Kikiolu Phillips Amare is just going to break the chemistry. do not trade please

  • Ben - 14 years ago

The Cavaliers don't have Wally Szczerbiak anymore duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Food for thought... without Amare the Cavs has beaten all contenders this season. With Amare the Suns lost to all contenders this season. A word is enough for the wise, don't do the trade!

This is not a good news, please don't trade for Amare. This present team has more than what it takes to win the championship in two straight yearts. Considering you have players that are yet to even play in 52 games! If trading for Amare is so important then it appears to me that the Cavs are not serious about winning a championship. The Cavs should choose between acquiring Amare and winning the 2010 championship. Should the Cavs acquire Amare they should bid good bye to the championship. Amare is a cancer that can easily kill team achievement. First, Amare needs high volume of shots to make a decent score or call it PPG or high stats, he is not a decent defender and when he's not filling the stat sheet he complains and his play diminishes. Don't forget that last season Amare complained about not getting the ball enough and Shaq clogging the lane. Yes, Shaq got traded but, no, the Pheonix Suns aren't doing any better than last year. The Cavs should not forget that they now have Shaq and it can be easliy concluded that Amare will not perform but only blame Shaq's presence for his failure to live up to his super player hype. More importantly it is really very sick to think of trading Z in a season when he stands to reap the reward of his long standing loyalty to the Cavs. In my view J. J. Hickson is a better suited to the Cavs play style than Amare. One cannot argue the huge potentials of having a PF like Amare but at the same time the odds against Amare in light of the present Cavs line up is way too high. In my 6 years of following Amare I have not known him as someone who is able to create his own shot. What the Cavs need if anything at all is a PF who can create his own shot and be very effieient defensively in a half cout setting. This much touted trade seems to me to be a loser from the word go! If what you Cavs want is highlight reel dunker or a defensive liability then it makes sense to trade for Amare but if winning the championship is what you need please take some notes form the 2006 Miami heat. Commitment to teamwork, dedication to duty, hardwork and good sportsmanship is all that it takes. With the current crop of great athletes and wonderfully gifted players in the Cavs line up, yes the Cavs can win a championship without Amare. Tell me, how many NBA finals has Amare appeared in, or how many championships has he won? I think the answer is pretty consistent, ZERO!
