What should be done about unemployment?

uh..stop the extensions and it would be massive chaos for state welfare and food stamp programs. Dennis...i live in a state with 11% unemployment and I have been out of work for over a year (Construction Finance) and I am not waiting for a perfect job...there is no waiting...when there are NO jobs..sorry Dennis lame advice but obviously from someone that does have the perfect job in that they receive a weekly or monthly check...or obviously not unemployed. Must be nice to sit there with no worries and be able to say cut off the life blood (unemployment compensation) to others who truly cannot find a job. Keep in mind that unemployment is a percentage of your earnings...so people are finding it difficult to pay the bills with unemployment as well. I on the other hand would lose everything I have worked for the past 10 years if I did not have unemployment much less eat. This is not the same as in the past where folks rode out the extentsions as long as they could when there were jobs...this time it is different there are no jobs to be had and will take years to rebuild the companies and jobs that were lost. I am a college graduate with stellar references and work history and this is the worst it has ever been for me to find a job in the construction finance sector...and I am willing to take a cut in pay and switch to another industry...accounting and bookkeeping are pretty much transferable...but again, my state is reporting well over 11% unemployment...so i would really think about what you suggest Dennis...because one day it could be you...and then you can read where some moron posts a comment to take away your unemployment and see how it feels. Believe me you would pray for every extension. I voted for Obama and thank him EVERYDAY for allowing my life to continue in a relatively normal way due to unemployment compensation. So far I have avoided borrowing money from family members or seeking state assistance. I am still able to contribute to the economy and support local business (or perhaps retain services from where you work in order for you to keep YOUR job)...by using federal money for my unemployment. See how that works Dennis? Have a good day Dennis while you take your mandated breaks and lunch and then return to your perfect place of employment...knowing that you will have a check waiting for you after your next payroll period. oh yeah, and don't ever take it for granted...because one day it could be you.

Stop extending unemployment payments. If they continue a person has no incentive to find a job any job. Because of the extensions people are waiting for that perfect job. s
