Which of their former pitchers should the Mariners pursue as free agents for 2010?

Why wouldn't people think we should sign both of them if we could.. I don't think they're crazy enough to drop two incentive laden contracts, but if they do that's great. Washburn pitches well in a pitcher friendly parks, and Bedard was supposed to be good, though he's never proven himself in an M's uniform. If I was going to pick who to take I would say Washburn, but because Bedard has costs us millions and never really got anything accomplished.

I think Dogdad has a good point, but in a league where spending = winning, I don't mind the M's spending. You're taking a chance with any guy your trying to make a 3rd starter.

Are you guys serious?? This team needs to move forward, not repeat its mistakes. Except for a couple months last year Washburn has never been more than a batting practice pitcher, and the chances of Bedard pitching at the major league level are slim for a couple of years, at least. I hereby offer to save the M's some money and take just half of the 1.5 mil to sit and not pitch.

I agree with you Ol Timer. If the contracts offered are incentive laden, then it makes all the sense in the world. I certainly wouldn't offer these guys guarantees upward of $2.5mil.

If this is the year that we've all been waitin for lets put a couple of insentive laden contracts out there and get er done. Im sure glad Big Jack makes these decisions and what ever he decides is ok with me. "ol timer"
