Should the President and the opposition have regular face-offs like Baltimore?

The President did a wonderful job. The American people want to see him in this format and he handles it superbly, with grace, modesty, intelligence and respect for his questioners (even when their agenda's are blatantly offered as mere "context" for their questions.

Obama is the man for our country now, and I would hope, for the sake of the American public, that the Republicans will join in the constructive negotiation and debate--towards the best solution for the American people--that Obama invites and passionately pursues.

it was exciting to watch. good questions followed be good answers. the way politics should be. I hope that we get to see the president hold monthly meetings with all groups, republicans and democrats, house and senate.

This kind of event should be a regular monthly event. The British have question time and it is a natural way to show the nation which leaders are just not capable of giving answers to tough policy questions. A modern example would be that Bush43 regardless of his party affiliation would not have been able to handle this kind of scrutiny. Neither would Carter.
The problem for the GOP right now is that they are combining ideology which rhetoric and this kind of event reveals that the rhetoric is winning the battle. When engaged in a more intense and detailed discussion the convincing and simplistic ads, slogans, marches, etc., become muddied and often do not stand up to replies. That is why FOX and MSNBC both keep adversarial guests away. I just wish those who watch FOX would just spend a month ONLY watching the BBC NEWS. It think they would be astounded at what it is like to watch true bland, boring, impersonal reports of the NEWS with little ideology. Then go back and watch FOX or MSNBC and the contrast will be astounding. the fair and balanced slogan will seem like a true joke after watching the BBC and only the BBC for a whole month. Don't believe me? Try it. I don't mean skip and sometimes watch it. I mean only that source for the NEWS for a whole month. See how difficult it is to watch news that is really boringly presented, bland, impartial and often just stating factual aspects of events and policy.

It was refreshing to see the exchange and the misleading rhetoric from the GOP finally confronted. It was obvious during the Q&A session the the Reps were "loaded for bear."

The President should have this type of face-offs on a regular basis so that we, the people, could really understand reforms and other issues throughly, as it was explained during this exchange. Also, it would give us the opportunity to determine those politicies from either party who are actually working on behalf of the American people as well as unmasking those who are using their power in Congress for political gain or personal ambitions.

Why not. For the first time in a long time the Pres did himself proud. Kicked the obstructionists collective butts. About time.
