Will you buy an iPad?

I just hate ipad and i really don't like iphone i would rather buy a touchscreen laptop and if you want a ipad just a get a enlarge ray light and put a ipod touch under it.

    "No way. It's not what I hoped/expected."

I will buy one when the second generation version comes out. I never really think Apple first phase is ever that good. Apple are moving things forward and tablets will be the future, but I'm not sure I want to be constricted by Apple's current platform.

  • christine - 14 years ago

haha i love it. everyone always complains about a product because it is soooo new but just wait and see...by august everyone will have one and will be loving it. everyone keeps saying it doesnt have things on it but ipad is coming out with their OWN applications with tons of stuff.....including microsoft word etc.

  • Anahi - 14 years ago

I am hoping that in about a year or so a new version will come out and it will have one or even two cameras (one for iChat), flash player enabled (hopefully all the devides will have this too), and multitasking.

To me, iPad is just a prototype of a very promising device in the future. Hopefully they won't leave it this way or they will see their billion dollar company run slowly out of funds.

Guys you are missing the point. Its primarily aimed at Kindle e-book readers Market and secondarily at netbooks. So, I think its still a good one in that section when i campare price, features and all.

I suggest all of you wait till the year end when they release the itablet with mac osx(with all the features you are asking for).

  • Zozo - 14 years ago

I wanted to buy one but realized I do not drink overprized StarBucks coffee.

  • gpo - 14 years ago

I won't buy one because I don't have a need for it as of yet. I have an iphone and it does my portable computing etc very well. Then I have a netbook and a laptop. I don't need something else at the moment. That is not to say that I won't get one in the future.

  • Liz - 14 years ago

I won't buy the iPad unless:

    1) It supports Flash;
    2) It can multitasking;
    2) The price of the 64G version is reasonable

I've downloaded the application " The White House" to my iPhone 3G, and wanted to watch the video of the President's State of the Union Address....it is a Flash video so you know the result.

Even more disappointed to find out that, after the long wait, the iPad finally shows up - it still doesn't support the Flash. Never thought that with this most advanced toy in hand, you can not watch the State of the Union Address ...

  • Kyler - 14 years ago

Not in its current configuration. Maybe in 2011, if Apple acutally makes some changes that would seem easy like flash support and multiple applications.

  • Siavash Ghahremany - 14 years ago

it's not what I should be, Apple could make it so much better, now it's just a toy, but add some features and it would be a magnificent device!

    -A real computer OS
    -downloads of email attachments
-Camera for video conferencing in Skype or Yahoo Messenger
    -Stereo speakers
-GPS with Navigation ( maybe Garmin will do that )
    -Better on screen keyboard
-E-ink display ( so better battery life when reading books)
    -support for HD movies
-Adobe Flash support ( it's just stupid to call a device magical in browsing the -web when it can not open a page with flash )
    -MultiTasking
-when you want to sync your videos and music and 64 GB in not enough
    -No SD card slot

  • Fred - 14 years ago

Will wait for the second release of the product...right now it looks like an overpriced netbook without all the netbook functionality....no multi-tasking, no connectivity via USB, no camera, no support for Flash...

  • negative - 14 years ago

sorry, but if i wanted an oversized ipod touch, id ducktape 4 of them together, also i hate apple

  • Paul Salzman - 14 years ago

@JM it's an iPod Touch...could you imagine if they called a product iTouch? They'd have even more jokes than iPad on their hands.

@Sarah you can use a Stylus. It's called Pogo and made by TenOne Design. http://tenonedesign.com/stylus.php

  • Paul Salzman - 14 years ago

Not sure why everyone is focusing on AT&T service. You're not required to have it or even buy it with 3G and there's no contract. If you don't want AT&T, buy a MiFi card from your beloved Verizon (and experience their lousy customer service) and use an iPad through that.

I'm finding that most techies don't get this product and that's ok. In my opinion, it's not for you...it's for people that don't want to screw with computers. Or for people that find the Kindle way too limited as a device, yet want the eBook functionality along with Web and games. Plus, the vertical market integrators are going to be out enforce, creating amazing solutions, because Apple is providing them with an amazing platform of which to build upon.

Will I buy one? Not likely--I have more laptops and iPhone/iPods than I know what to do with. But then again, if some killer apps come out for this thing, it could be compelling. That being said, I know about 3 or 4 people who could really use this device--like my mom and a few of my technophobe friends. They don't want AT&T, either, but they would love one of these iPads!

  • Gryfon - 14 years ago

Are you kidding? Of course I'll buy one, though maybe not for a few months. In spite of its shortcomings, this is the Mac product that Steve envisioned in 1984. Pure appliance - not a replacement for a notebook, or phone, or even netbook, but for the person who wants to surf the web, and play a few games, and check email. Add a stylus (and handwriting recognition - Newton?), load some textbooks on it and take it to class. Mark up your books. And finally the product to make Apple TV come alive. New Apple TV, with wireless router for streaming to the iPad. Online storage (internet or NAS) to keep from clogging up the iPad memory. This will change everything we imagined a computer to be. Doesn't try to do everything, or even too much.

At first I wasn't too impressed, but the more I think about it, the more convinced I am that it's sheer genius.

downside - needs more memory (or memory options - SD storage?), Express Card slot for cellular modem (don't have to tie to AT&T). Otherwise, I think its a great product opportunity.

  • chaos215bar2 - 14 years ago

So, I gather from this poll that 97% of people voting would be buying an iPad if it was everything they expected? Really? How about a simple "No" option. The iPad is pretty much exactly what I expected. I didn't plan on buying one and I still don't. I don't need to spend $600 on another device to fit somewhere between my phone and laptop. I don't think the iPad is a bad product. I simply don't need one.

  • jm - 14 years ago

First off, most of you don't get it. the reason behind AT&T is simple...GSM. its a global network 2 billion users strong. and T-mo is too small to support apple. Verizon runs on dated CDMA tech with less than 100 million users. so quit bitching about the serviice. and @Sarah I love my service, i just don't use a AT&T branded phone.
Now despite Jobs's statement, this bloated iTouch won't out perform a netbook. And at $800, you might as well as buy a hp tablet. at least that will replace a computer. Where's the camera? USB? multi-tasking? Oh wait its not a revolutionary product.
This is not a smart item.

  • Sarah - 14 years ago

I would definitely buy it if a few changes were made. I would want it to have a webcam, Flash installed, have the ability to write on it with a stylus, and if the 3G were with Verizon. I have never heard a positive thing about AT&T, so I don't understand why they have stuck with it for the iPad. It could also use a better name...

  • Max - 14 years ago

No way! There is no camera built-in!!! It's 2010 - and device such iPad doesn't have camera?

That's the only one reason why I'm not buying it - in all other ways it's masterpiece, but I'll wait till version 2 or next one with camera on board.

  • martin Friesen - 14 years ago

maybe the second gen. i want a camera, multitasking, voice commands like on the iphone, radio (FM), usb and sd card built in instead of having to get an attachment kit thing, if i could get at LEAST 2/5 of the things i listed then i would get the next gen of the ipad. or if they add something else that i didnt think of that would be awesome.

  • Anthony Borwick - 14 years ago

I have my Palm Pre for smartphone capabilities and my Dell 1300 XPS for mobile computing and my desktops for heavy photo editing and work, of course. Why do I want or need this device?

  • MikeMac - 14 years ago

Tell you what, if anybody wants to give me $500, I'll stand in line at the Apple Store the night before the iPad is released, and buy your iPad for you with your credit card. This way, you won't miss work, you can say you were "one of the first" to have one, and I can go and buy mine NEXT YEAR, when iPad 2.0 is released. It'll have more features, and be the same price. That's how Apple does things.

  • toddtee - 14 years ago

I'm waiting to see what other manufacturers come up with before I decide.

  • AJLind - 14 years ago

I didn't care about seeing the iPad. I only cared to see if Steve Jobs was looking healthy.

Since he does, I could care less about this FUBAR product from Apple.

This is a royal screw-up. I look at that screen and I think about the endless potential for fractures. Now when you put a lid on it to keep it safe what do you have?

    An incredibly unimpressive notebook computer.

It's nothing that I will buy.

I would rather buy a Kindle for $299 to $399.

    This helps Kindle.

  • Anthony - 14 years ago

While the iPad is a really cool device, I wouldn't buy it any time soon. I'm a student who dorms on campus so I already bring my laptop everywhere an ipad would be useful, and I can't see myself doing assignments on it. It seems like a better deal than a kindle or similar device, but I'd rather just get free books from the library than spend several hundred dollars plus $10 or more per book.

  • DaPoets - 14 years ago

Why would anyone buy this when a netbook can do 10 times the things the iPad can do for half the cost? Lemmings.... that's all I have to say.

  • FranCan - 14 years ago

No flash (Adobe), no web cam ???
    Sorry m.Jobs, not for me.
On the next generation of IPAD, put the flash
and a front camera and i will be a customer for the IPAD.
Many website need the adobe flash to see webpages.
So, if we want to go on the web, you must have flash in it.
I have a IPOD Touch, IPOD Classic, a IMAC 27 inches, AppleTV, Airport, Time Capsule... and more... so i m a APPLE fans...but not a customer for the IPAD.. not yet. :-(

  • jonnieboy79 - 14 years ago

Mark. Another techno-geek with with entirely too much money to throw away, (do some of you even have time to brush your teeth and kiss your wife and kids goodnight before putting down your thousand dollar toys (how much DO you write a check for each month to your provider?)) yet has absolutely NO idea of the meaning of the word 'sarcasm'.

  • John - 14 years ago

I am still waiting until they come up with an iPad that will have much more than the one that just came out, I am hoping at least that the second generation will have a camera, so one can iChat while walking on the street or around your house, and I am still waiting until it can multitask, if the MacBook Pro that I am using right now is a 7 hour one, which is moooore than enough, so the iPad does not necessarily need a 10 hour batter, you could give it the ability to multitask, and maybe reduce the battery life to 8 hours, which is still A LOT.

  • Deidre - 14 years ago

I want one but I will probably wait until the 2nd generation of Ipads come out. They can do so much more with the ipad and if history is correct they will improve the product and adjust the price as well. Apple deciding to go with AT&T also kinda killed it for as well.

  • Abbie - 14 years ago

I'm not a big fan of the I-Phone, so why would I want a larger version of one. If it can't do everything as it is supposed to, then why get it.

  • Chris - 14 years ago

I love new gadgets and have an Ipod Touch but as long as Apple continues their allegiance to AT&T I will not be purchasing an Ipad or Iphone. Should they finally smarten up and open their device compatibility to Verizon then I will be moving from Blackberry to Iphone along with the possibility of an Ipad.

  • Faith - 14 years ago

I would buy later generations. First generations tend to be kind of a letdown compared to their later generations.

  • I'm a PC - 14 years ago

I'll get it as soon as I can, AND trade it in as soon as the second gen comes in. I do photography as a hobby and sorely need a lightweight portable IPS monitor. Netbooks have cheap crappy monitors and laptops are too bulky.

And no, I am not a fanboy. I use a PC and I love Windows XP.

  • Daniel - 14 years ago

If it has the ability to watch shows on hulu and netflix instant I would rush out to get one... seriously.

  • John Bergeron - 14 years ago

Our dispersed family of four all have iPhones and conventional laptops as well as three desktops, the latter now rarely used. As empty nesters in their late fifties who work in non-IT fields, my wife and I love our iPhones for gaming, email, social networking, and casual quick, internet surfing. We use our laptops largely for photo management and relax-mode internet surfing in the living room. Will we get an iPad? You bet! With it's instant-on feature, and entertainment ortientation, for us, it's a perfect fit. Yes, there are several egregious omiisions and shortcomings, such as lack of flash support, USB connectivitiy, forward facing cam for video chat, and HDMI output, etc., and involuntary confinement to the Apple iTunes, App store playground, it really does address what we need and want in a media appliance. They can, and I know, will do better in future upgrades. I think it will catch on.

  • Kale R. - 14 years ago

I will be waiting for the iPad 2nd Generation because I was deeply disappointed with the lack of key features. Even the cheapest cell phones on the market have cameras, yet this sophisticated new technology lacks it. I'm also unexcited about Apple's unwillingness to support Adobe Flash.. let's face it, the internet is just not the internet without Adobe Flash. As for the comments that stay Apple is sticking to AT&T, that statement is FALSE. The iPad will be an unlocked (that means any carrier, if you didn't figure that out already) 3G device.

Until Apple steps up it's game and reinvents the iPad to be what everyone wants it to be, I want no part in it. Plus, I can't imagine the horror of buying one only to have the 2nd Generation have all the cool gadgets I want.. (if it ever does).

  • bob henz - 14 years ago

I Think the ipad is the worst idea ever. It falls within the category of unnecessary devices. If you really want to read books then ebook readers have easier to read screens (e-ink) and last a whole lot longer. It's literally just an over-glorified, enlarged ipod touch. even for someone like me who frequently travels on business, i say a laptop is more comfortable to use & if it's gaming you want buy a psp or ds.

  • Naruto - 14 years ago

I think this is a very nice gift for older people with not much of a knowledge in technology.. I will get one of this for my mom and grandma

  • AJ - 14 years ago

I was really looking forward to Apple coming out with something revolutionary. The iPhone was a must have phone, the iPod a must have music player, the iPad a must have...? It doesn't fill any need or any want. I hope Apple can eventually create something great with this. There's a lot of good things going for the iPad: a great touchscreen, has an ENORMOUS base of 140,000 applications, and backed by a company with a big bank account with creative thinkers. Unfortunately, the bad will be a deal breaker for most, including myself. There's no multi-tasking, no flash support, no USB, no memory card slots, no inputs whatsoever, and no camera. If it had all or some of these would more people buy it? Definitely. Would it have been revolutionary? No. There's no ground breaking technology, there's no wow factor... If Apple can't do it, hopefully someone else will step up to the challenge.

  • Audiea - 14 years ago

On the day the iPad is in the store, all this bickering will end. Hold it in your hand and you will feel the 2070s. This is the model T, a brilliant start of the era of the media tool. In time other companies will improve on the idea, USB ports, Copy and paste to a seperate computer, All kinds of video, numerous tools and many different aps that will cause Apple to relax and end the iTune gateway. The Ford Model T was incompatible with everything else, for a few years. The point is that Jobs had the courage to make a start. The flaws are obvious, but who really cares? To watch movies, TV, listen to internet radio or to just sit and tap away your great American novel! Other than Archos no one has seriously tried to create a real 21st century tablet media device.
Kudos to Apple for taking a chance. When your great grand dad sat in a Model T going 10MPH he could see the 1970s.
I will buy this first generation wonder, and my grand kids will sell it for big bucks to finance a trip to Yellowstone 60 years from now.

  • Andrew Player - 14 years ago

I doubt I'll be buying one. The primary feature I wanted was Flash. I don't know what the rift is between Apple and Adobe, but this is a deal breaker for me RE iPad.

  • Edawrd - 14 years ago

I'm returning the Sony Reader I got two weeks ago and waiting. I have a laptop, and a smartphone. What I want and need is a good reader.

It's a little big, but I'll learn to live with that. Oh, it can do a "few" other things too. Technically so can my Sony, but this.... only choice is to 3g or not to 3g... Give me a choice other than AmericanTurtle&Tortoise speed and I know which way that will go.

  • Marcin - 14 years ago

With the keyboard displayed, your text has to fit on the upper half of what is after all a standard ten inch screen. On a netbook, you can see your text on the whole screen. No way.

  • Nishant Singh - 14 years ago

listen if i wanted a piece of shit maxi-pad that does what an ipod touch can pretty much do why waste money on it? i mean atleast offer something that will grab the attention to the consumer like a camera, or something better than a fucking 720p display i mean come on a Zune HD has the same display -___- and to top it off no usb ports so i cant plug in my ipod to it or even work i have to finish up? IM BETTER OFF WAITING ANOTHER COUPLE OF MONTHS FOR AN UPGRADE OF THIS WITH A CAMERA AND EVERYTHING ELSE! this is just a cheap way to get this MAXI-PAD out to the public. I mean i understand this is more for those who read and its trying to run up against the Kindle and Sony reader but i mean put some stuff in it that can be based in a view of a larger audience that everyone can enjoy. APPLE'S IPAD IDEA IS ONLY A REVIAL OF AN OLD IDEA ITS NOTHING REVOLUTIONARY AT ALL.

  • mike magee - 14 years ago

i have a laptop, a notebook and a blackberry, why would i need thid ? it is another excuse for media excitement nothing more. if you want to come out with something really exciting, go out into the real everyday worl and check with real people to see what they need or want.

So the iPad is here and the Geeks are enraged,
"It's just a big iPod! And no Flash! What the hey!"
They cry about gigahertz, pixels and storage
They moan about cameras both backwards and forwards,
"It's not high-tech at all - we've all been deceived!"
As if hard-to-use tech was a goal for poor Steve
Who made an appliance - "Oh, horrors!" they shriek,
"This simple contraption isn't made for a Geek!"
"Give us some megahertz, hard drives and throughput,"
"Make it do Photoshop, hi def and Unix!"
"Itunes? Say what? Who cares about that?"
"We don't want it simple - simplicity's crap!"
"We can't understand it - who'd want to buy it?"
"Send it back - it's a FAIL! We're all in agreement!"
"Oh, Mighty Jobs, we beseech you, please listen."
"Hi tech is our life, our passion, our mission."
"We're not good with people. We don't have the insight."
"We fiddle with files. We download a website."
    "We're Geeks with a capital binary "G"
"We won't get an iPad - not even for free."
"But maybe, just maybe, someday, if you could,
Reboot the iPad into something complex and good,
Something only a Geek could possibly use,
Running Flash with a camera, and Dreamweaver, too,
With directories, folders, permissions and programs
Configurable, tricky, obscure - now that's MODERN!"
"But until that day comes, we'll try to 'make do'
With non-touchable screens and a Macbook or two."

Personally I just got a iPod touch and I'm very happy with it, although I wish I had bought one with more memory. But when I saw them talking about the best of the iPhone and the Mac laptop I thought okay i just got an iPod touch and a laptop but what the heck it could be worth it. I thought it would be smaller personally i think they should make it so that you could fit it in a satchel it cannot be used as a phone so this is truly a computer its very nice but what i have is the exact same. But one thing they mentioned was that the iBooks could be used for textbooks which in the futur would be very useful for students instead of having 8 textbooks just having the ipad. But for right now I am content with what I have.

  • PoisonApple - 14 years ago

Another iTunes extension device where Apple sells the hardware, the operating system, and software development. But I'm sure it looks pretty. I'll pass.

  • Anon - 14 years ago

For those who said they would buy it, I happen to have in my very possession a prototype of the iPad (And early prototype) it is much smaller and actually has more features. I am willing to sell it for 304307430743 dollars. It says something like iPhone on the back or what not, but, is exactly like that thing... just... smaller :)

Seriously Apple, how stupid do you think your customers are? (Don't get me wrong, I know there will be idiots buying these.)

  • Santiago H. - 14 years ago

If I can manage to cut my SIM card into a customizable micro-to-normal SIM card I'll buy the 3g + WiFi. I'm sticking it to the man! Then, and only then, I'll buy it. Yeah, sue me.

2nd Generation iPad for sure! By then there are dedicated iPad apps while the device will offer greater memory and a front facing camera

  • Rob - 14 years ago

I was really hoping for something great with the iPad, but saddly its nothing more than a XXL iPod Touch. At this point I can't see spending that much money on a larger version of something my iPhone does, without being able to place calls. I am really interested in the concept of a "tablet" but this leaves to much to be desired. I will reserve final judgement until I can actually try one for myself, and I deffinately won't get the first gen model.

I had high hopes, but am saddly disappointed

  • Robert - 14 years ago

At last, an Apple product I can resist. After many many multiples of IMAC; IPODs, NANOs Powerbooks, Mac Pro's and Iphones, it is a relief not to feel the need to rush out and buy this. For years I've waited to 'resist' the Apple and now, thanks to the IPad, that dream comes true.

  • tommi lynn - 14 years ago

    no multitasking???!!! forget it.

  • Russell - 14 years ago

Not buying it. My main focus was the ebook portion of the device. With the Kindle you can download ebooks from anywhere with no network charges. With the IPAD you need a WIFI location or pay a monthly fee. No thanks

  • John Z. - 14 years ago

I would buy two of them now if it could stand alone. It would be the perfect device if you could connect your digital camera, phone, USB storage, printer and other related devices to it like a laptop. Until then (and that day may come), it's a giant iPod, not a tablet PC, which is what I heard Steve Jobs was going to introduce.

  • stephen tanner - 14 years ago

I had to admit when I first heard they had stuck with At&t I winced a little. there is one thing here in this deal that did stick out to me though and that is the access to all the at&t hotspots nationwide. With that in mind it does make a little more sense. So maybe that part is just a fail and not an EPIC FAIL!!!

  • Patrick - 14 years ago

The same people that say the ipad is crap are the ones that said twitter was useless crap and was gone disappear! Not your fault you just don't get it.

  • cPriz - 14 years ago

Truthfully speaking, the iPad is really nothing more than oversized iPod/iPhone. I am an Apple fan by all means but I see no real use for this product since I have an iPhone. For those of you who want the ability of calling someone on it, do you really want to have a device that size up to your ear, that would just look extremely awkward. I disagree with Apple and their decision to use the same UI as the iPod Touch/iPhone. Sure its a bigger screen, but that's about the only bonus that i see. They should have run a condensed version of Mac OS on it so we could actually download programs like you can with a real computer.

I'm sure we'll see some significant changes once the 3rd and 4th generation iPad comes out but I definitely will not be wasting my money on one. I'd rather save up to purchase a MacBook. The real disappointment with Wednesday's Apple announcement was that their was no update for the iPhone. I was really expecting a major update to the iPhone to 4.0 since we are long overdue. I want the ability to customize my home screen like you can do on the iPad so that its not always just BLACK! Apple's favorite colors are black and white but we NEED CUSTOMIZATION NOW!!

In all, I was very disappointed with the iPad. Hopefully we'll see another new Apple product that is much better in the next few years. Until then, PLEASE SEND OUT AN UPDATE FOR MY IPHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And for all you AT&T haters, the service is truly not that bad. Sure there are parts of the country where you will not find 3G service and your call quality may be poor but Verizon has the same problems just like any other cell phone network provider. And who the hell wants Verizon, you can't even switch SIM cards if you break your phone or something along those lines. Plus, most verizon phones won't work overseas so have fun going to Europe!

  • Jonathan - 14 years ago

The AT&T marriage is just regretable...if Apple had done the cogent thing and hooked it with Big Red then I and my associates would be a player....VERIZON Steve!!!

  • brotherbob - 14 years ago

If they would decide to use Verizon I would have an Iphone and and Ipad both, but sticking to ATT not hardly. I live three miles from downtown Omaha Ne. and would barely get the edge service definitely not the 3g. Verizon covers almost all of the state of Nebraska and Iowa, ATT could not even find those states on their maps.

Really? No flash, AT&T, no multitasking, why , why ,why?

  • suz - 14 years ago

In terms of the next generation, will it be the iPad...with wings? ;o)

  • suz - 14 years ago

It looks neat, and if I was really hard-up for a low rent, do-it-yourself Apple computer (complete with keyboard dock!), I'd consider it. But alas, I have a laptop that can do more computer-y stuff and has a hell of a lot more storage space than 64 GB.

  • L Dutcher - 14 years ago

I was really, really hoping that this thing would have Flash. I want to be able to use the whole Internet, not just iPod formatted mini-sites. Oh well, the new Google phone looks like the best choice for now.

  • Lawrence - 14 years ago

No but I picked other to say not because I was dissapointed, it was that I don't like Apple and this thing is a POS to me.

...i dont get the American Telephone & Telegraph tether/umbilical cord/obsession....and regardless of what companies AT&T bought along the way to get to the present...The Service sucks and They think their CUSTOMERS suck.

This device looks like it has a lot of potential, especially in education, but it is not there yet. Having such a device would create a very fast way of accessing information such as lesson plans, power point presentations, schedules, grades and so on. The lack of a USB port though is quite disappointing as the only way to transfer data between computers and for back up would be by email. Also, can the iPad be directly connected to a projector? If not, why even put Keynote on it. Overall, great idea, but it definitely needs some fine tuning.

Uhm... Didn't the Apple Newton have more functionality than this? (Joking but serious) But then again, all that funcionality didn't help the Newton sell.

  • American - 14 years ago

Kind of pricey for a GameBoy. Probably doesn't run Windows 7 either.

  • Cerebro - 14 years ago

i had wished for it to be in another network not AT&t. i already have an iTouch which i like very much. also i love my moto Droid. no need for something else that really doesnt bring anything new to my functionality as i am not a book reader. i do think i would be a cool gadget to have in the living room for a quick web search. but that about it. no camera, no radio, no microphone. we do have to remember that this is apple. and they do take 3 or 4 tries before making it completely right (iPhone). so maybe in 3 or 4 years the iPad will be a complete finished product maybe then it will be mainstream.

  • dropg - 14 years ago

just a giant ipodtouch nothing more interesting

  • Griffin - 14 years ago

I'm going to wait for an updated second version next year. the second versions of apple products always seem to have the edge

  • Tyler - 14 years ago

all i wanted was a camera on it for web chatting (something that would make it awesome), flash, verizon, and maybe some decent games on there. none of that "double sized pixel" shit.

  • sai2006 - 14 years ago

too disappoiting! i will never buy it unless it could have multitask/flash around. stay fun with my itouch would be enough.

Apple has once again introduced a new device that is obviously lacking in features and price. It will follow-up with improvements and price cuts to increase sales alienating early adapters.

The Ipad has small market potential like Apple TV. Meanwhile a touchscreen netbook with everything that the Ipad lacks will show up next year selling for less than 500$.

I desire a $199 touchscreen device with stand, projector display and keyboard, SD expansion, 24hr removable battery, USB, HDMI, video conferencing, bluetooth, wifi, 3G, 500GB, , 2LBS, amoled 10 inch screen; everything a netbook can do with modular upgrade capability.
Maye in 5 years an Iperfect.

Unlimited free nationwide wireless broadband supported by ads/taxes in 10 years. This will revolutionize communications like the highway system.

Why is thing not running OS X... if it did I would buy one in a heartbeat but as of right now its just a giant iPod.

  • Mark - 14 years ago

The statement made by Bucc-i "i would buy one... if it came with a Blueray/DVD RW. but it doesn't... so it sucks." has to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard. You moron it's a tablet! What table has a blu-ray? Oh wait that's right NONE! It's a power hog and a Blu-Ray is only worth wild on a 1080P in a large screen format. Honesty quit your endless bitching about a blu-ray player that is really designed for a 1080P large screen T.V. This unit is designed for students and business pros who give presentations. This is the best option for a tablet and yet so many will continue to grip because it doesn't fart rainbows. Yes the AT&T option is a pain, but there are other options. But alas you did not read that far eh? I'm am so sick and tired of the griping about something like a tablet. There is far more to life then this. If you don't want it, hey don't buy it. Just see what that craptastic windows version will do. Oh that's right, not much.

  • Jeff - 14 years ago

How long will it take for users to need to jail break it? Just that fact alone means it sucks.

  • Tony - 14 years ago

FLASH ? FLASH ? FLASH ? What is the problem with apple and Flash?
They make a really cool looking and high performance multimedia device that cant take full advantage of the internet. Get with the program.

  • Eddy - 14 years ago

The thing is too big and it's stuck using the iPhone OS, which is great if it were a PHONE, but not a slate tablet PC. If they has put a full install of desktop OS X, then I would jump on it. I think the HP slate from CES is MILES ahead of this thing.

  • Derek - 14 years ago

Isn't it possible that they were in negotiations with AT&T and Verizon and AT&T was willing to do the no contract deal and Verizon wasn't. I'm not saying that's how it went down, but I think it's something to be mindful of.

  • Anthony - 14 years ago

couldn't you see a doctor with a patient reading the chart including xrays cat scans leaving orders writing prescriptions. How about a military use or engineering. Even taking inventory. Education? checking papers taking attendance. reviewing grades. a quick video to make a point. I think the possibilities are endless. The only problem I have is paying for data transmission on another account. Connect it with the iphone and it will fly off the shelves.

Not what I was expecting....they just increased the screen size, added Bluetooth and 3G connectivity, what else is different from and iPod Touch??? Also staying with AT&T it looks that they don’t give a rat’s ass regarding the customer service and customer satisfaction…Can't run multiple applications??? Don’t have a web cam….

    I don’t understand what were they thinking…

  • Jason Holt - 14 years ago

Will definitely buy one...I do a lot of business remotely and end up using my iPhone for a lot of it because it's almost always connected to the internet. I lamented AT&T...but the facts are that AT&T still has the most robust 3G network out there...pushing a bunch of iPhone and iPads onto any other network would probably result in the same network collapse that AT&T has experienced. Other than that, I like the size, power, and potential this device has. My credit card will be meeting this device in 90 days (64G, 3G model).

  • Lana - 14 years ago

Would rather buy the new iPhone G4

  • BosHawk - 14 years ago

iPad 4G is a no brainer purchase. I will wait for 4G radio in the device.

  • Anthony - 14 years ago

Any product sold with AT&T in mind is definitely off my list. Like others, I'd like to have an iPhone, and maybe this iPad, but will never go with At&T. They suck, plain & simple. Lost my Landline business to the local cable company, and will never, ever get my business again. I'll use smoke signals as a form of communication before ever going back to AT&T.
