Not a chance the MIB is the good guy. At best, he might have some redeeming qualities and shades of gray. But he has been set up as the villain of the series and at least part of Season 6 will likely be about stopping him.

If you think he may be the good guy, then why is he acting all mysteriously and telling Jacob he wants to kill him, I bet the Man in Black is the smoke monster, and what appears to be John Locke in the second half of season 5. Jacob WAS the good guy. Either he is dead and the people on the island are screwed because the smoke monster is now in charge, OR Jack changed the future just a little bit so that Jacob is still alive, or he will possibly turn in to the white smoke monster, which the real John Locke saw in the beginning of season 1. In season 3 he told Eko that he saw something bright(or white) and beautiful, and then Eko replies: That is not what I saw. So I believe that the smoke monster John Locke saw, might not be the same as the one that attacked everyone else, maybe Jacob is a white smoke monster, or if you will; the good smoke monster.
