Pragmatism will kick in big time for the Democrats soon, as senior officials meet behind closed doors to discuss how to move Obama to the middle.

Klippen - What the he#! are you talking about. Do you live in this country?
Supermajority is required. Insofar as Health Care is concerned, this country deserves aQuality effort on the part of our representatives, not a mere quantity of work days.

Three things convince me that having Brown win in Mass. won't necessarily mean an end to the health care bill or even the Democratic agenda. First, too much effort has gone into the work so far for it to be abandoned. Second, a 60 count majority isn't required by law. In many ways losing the 60 majority will actually improve the bill. Losing that last vote and accepting a simple majority concept reduces the value of those votes remaining. The special deals written to meet the total needed for passage are no longer needed. Thus we could now be left with a cleaner, much fairer document. And lastly, once the base of the Democratic party realizes that abandoning the fight now could doom all that Obama might accomplish during his term, they might become empowered once more to make their opinions known.
