Jordan Farmar: Point guard of the future or career backup?

gotta go with craig hill's point about Chris Paul. bring that nasty little guard to l.a.! with mamba, pau, bynum, l.o. and artest as the core for the next several years, really don't need farmar in the starting line-up jackin up haymakers. this aint the warriors or the suns. his scoring's alright off the bench in spots but if you've been following this guy since his days in westwood, you know he's not exactly a facilitator. why else you think zen-meister still starts fish? gimme gritty, team-first, can hit open shots in that order for this position. i'd even take collison over farmar.

As any longtome Farmar watcher can contest, he has not substantially changed from his undisciplined days at Ucla.

The Lakers need to make another brilliant move, for Chris Paul. There's our point guard for the near future, another 3-5 championships. ~ Native Angeleno

Jordan Farmar will be the Laker starting point guard next year. Count on it. He would already be the starter on most NBA teams.

cannot agree more with all of your comments above. too manny ill advised shots, passess, resulitng in turnovers and change of a momentum. simply not steady and dependable enough on both ends of the court.

Jordan will be a starter if he moves to a different team but appears to be a change of pace gaurd in the Lakers system. His defense is something that I have never been able to accept.

Fish is not easily replaced. The key to Fish is not how much he does that show up on the stat sheet but things that do not (chargers, defense, ball control, etc.). He is mentally tough, a highly under-rated shooter when he is open (something he is often, as long as Kobe is around!), particularly in the clutch, and he is leader (head of the NBA players, is he not?) JF has a long way to go to reach those virtues.

The biggest difference between Derek and Jordan is Derek's ability to control the flow of the game with his steady play. Jordan on the otherhand is a shoot first and pass second player. Numerous amount of times you see Jordan take a less mature approach with his hasty decision-making resulting in missed shots or turnovers. I feel he has regressed a little from last year and hope he takes the opportunity to calm down and let the game come to him. Once he does, he will become the point guard of this team. Derek is just waiting for Jordan to step in.

Derek's claim to fame is his defense, and clutch shots. Farmar is a good shooter now, but will have to work hard to be half the defender Fisher is.
