I'm surprised at the favourtism leaning towards Anand in this poll. Topalov is the premier fighter in complex positions. What is Anand's strategy against this? He's not a natural defensive player, yet I can't see him matching Topa in the genuine fighting positions. Don't see how Topalov can't be favoured.

Let win the greater sportsman and he who plays fairly.

Why do so many people think Anand will win?

Topalov is higher rated. He is in good form. He is on home teritory. He will have far more extensive support from the public, seconds, in any pychological battles. Anand will not be in his comfort zone. Anand would like to draw a load of games and pick off one or two wins. That is fine against Kramnik, but against Topalov, who takes big risks, this will be a totally different match. Also Anand often resigns early when he gets in difficult positions, and that is not a good tactic in a high pressure match.

How can you assume that Vish will win? I don't see how that's going to happen. Yes, he is one of the greatest player of our time, but you have to admit that Topalov is much more talented in so many ways. As long as I'm a chess fan since last 30 years, I can't say who is the world's greatest player, but I think Topalov is much more prepared and ready to shoot Vish with his genius moves....!
We'll see, but my vote goes to V. Topalov!

Vishy seems to make all the right moves in terms of avoiding unwanted verbal battles. As such Anand is concealing all his opening preparations. As Topalov rightly pointed out in one of his recent interviews ...without any effort Vishy gained a +2 in Corus that too proving the giant killer against Kramnik and Shirov both who were doing extremely well till then. I have all the reasons to believe that Anand might spring up other opening surprises like the match in Bonn. But Topalov is an aggressive player and hence it will be fireworks on the chessboard ....eagerly awaiting to see some novelties from both sides.

Hopefully I do go for Vishy Anand. He is damn obvious and very interesting and electrifying games are in offing. To be frank Topalov is no way inferior to Anand (Please not to consider the rating points). I can surely say that these games will be quite entertaining than Anand-Kramnik games held last year.

It's all about how vishy Anand's concentration goes right. It's already been postponed due to volcano's unpredictable nuisance. These are the main reasons for the distraction of players. Anyhow Anand will be given incredible fight from Bulgarian's maestro Topalov. Let's see who will make it after all. Come on "Vishy"..!!!!

Really this is an interesting match! No doubt Anand will win. But if somebody will make psychological destruction, then its anybody's game.

Anand-Topalov is a very interesting match. I hope they will produce some great games, an evergreen games, an immortal games. tactical shot, strategist masterpieces. And I hope to remember their games as well.
Of course "The Bulgarian Buldozer" will demolish "Tiger from Madras"...and the Great Topalov declare the Absolut Champion.......

Well said. Anand is no doubt a great player. Topalov is also equally a talented player. This combat will be highly electrifying. We all are waiting for this championship to begin. Best of luck VISHY ANAND

I am confident that Vishy Anand will win the 2010 WCC Match considering he has more WCC experiences in different formats and he is more talented than Topalov, present ELO Ratings notwithstanding. However, Topalov is also a heavyweight type of a grandmaster and he is also capable to spring surprises as well. Both players have distinctive abilities and factors. Thus, their WCC Match deserves much respect from the chess world. Lastly, the so-called Danialov Tricks will no longer be effective this time because I assume the Vishy camp must have already anticipated it unlike the Kramnik-Topa WCC. It would be a shame to Topa and to the Bulgaria Government if they will resort again to such cheap tricks just to distract Vishy.

It seems to be a very courageous - maybe psychologically wise/tricky - decision of Vishy Anand to play the 2010 WCC match in Sofia/Bulgaria; the champion must be absolutely confident to keep his title. I admire this sort of sportmanship.

I predict a 6.5-3.5 or 7.5-4.5 win for Anand if there is no " Toiletgate" or anyother trickery from Danialov and co, or else it will be 6.5-4.5 or 7.0-5.0 for Anand !
