Bradley's going to rip the guts out of the team and season.

Maybe Miton Bradley will have a year like Jose Guillen did. Remember many of the things said about Guillen are the same as Bradley. Maybe he just wants to win and is very competative. He apparently needs the proper environment and to be surrounded by the right people. Some of the staff here has worked with him during his good seasons. Let's hope for the best. With these changes the M's will be fun to watch.

It's essentially cutting Silva and getting two years of Milton Bradley for $3million when it's said and done. And I'd bet you could cash in Bradley, as he had numerous suitors in Tex, TB, etc. Sure he's had issues, but I think it's at least partly because he gives a dang and cares about his team. He'll hit better than Ryan Langerhans and isn't awful in the outfield either.

Anything that gets Silva out of town at virtually no cost has to be good. Milton Bradley is a gamble not as a player but as a person. He has serious anger management issue, as the they in the head shrinker racket, and if they cannot be resolved there is a chance they can be contained. If they are, the deal is drop-dead fantastic. If they aren´t, the headache is a monster.
    Oremus.
Now, on to the guy who plays first for the Padres, who can really hit. And by all accounts he´s sane.

Coming from a die hard Cubs fan....we could have gotten more for Bradley. Every team in MLB knew that the Cubs had to move Bradley so why give up anyone of value to a desperate team. Great job Seattle. Remember guys, we don't have to wonder if Bradley will be productive, we know he will. Silva on the other hand is useless and will be in the bullpen before the first month is over. The Cubs will eventually cut him.

Just so you know, here in Chicago we're aware that Silva is as good a ballplayer as a blind pig, but apparently many of you have no idea what you're getting, and the laughter you hear in the distance is Cubs Nation enjoying a rare moment of joy that this absolute cancer is our problem no longer.
That said, it's a shame for their own sake that the Mariners are this foolish ... it would appear that until this move that Seattle was putting together a pretty darn good off-season - even including crybaby Cliff Lee.
    Anyway, enjoy your new turd!

I was supprised at this trade. But it makes sense because Silva had no value here. I believe that if there is a team can keep Bradley on track it is the Mariners. If it does not work, they cut him loose. Bradley has an upside and he is healthy.

Awesome, why wouldn't this be a good deal when you trade crap for something of potential value?

I am tired of the Mariners loosing. Give it a try. Work with the guy. Let the manager earn his salary. If it doesn't work it doesn't work.

Bradley has been a disaster for every team he's played for (except the Rangers), and there is little reason to think that the Mariners can catch that lightning in a bottle again. He's more intelligent version of Carl Everett, and you remember how well he worked out. The M's hd been going to great lengths to sign good clubhouse guys, positive guys and get rid of the stench that had been the 2008 team. As for coaches saying good things about these guys, take a look at the series of articles on the UW 2000 football team--everybody said Jeremey Stevens was a good guy, too. He's an iceberg, and the Mariners are now the Titanic. Sometime in the middle of season, Bradley's going to rip the guts out of the team and season. This one foolish move undoes everything positive that GM Z had done since he took over.

I'm no Milton Bradley fan, but I don't see any downside here. JZ found probably the only team that was willing to take Silva off our hands. Like Larry Stone wrote, when Bradley's playing well, he's a solid producer, and if he doesn't work out, for whatever reason, we cut him lose. If we do end up releasing him, we're still shed of Silva.

Good move. The chances of Silva significantly helping the M's this year or next year were slim, while the chances of Bradley helping them are significant. Along with the acquisition of Figgins, this also helps them improve on one of their greatest weaknesses of the past couple years: On-base percentage. While not glamorous, the willingness to take a walk if you don't get your pitch, letting the next guy have a shot at it, is critical to any ballclub's success.

I know this seems like a good deal, but I guarantee that the Mariners will regret trading for Bradley. Things might go alright for a little while, but he is a time bomb that is going to explode. Get ready for some clubhouse drama.
