Thanks for everyone's comments & label compliments! We hope to begin bottling in 30 days or so, so we've got a few more weeks to decide. I agree with arguments on both sides ~ but do think we need to be different to stand out on store shelves (and shipwrecks do sink to the bottom). We can always upgrade our btls to include an emblem or seal on the top portion of the btl someday soon (we've already rec'd the 1st container of btls in St Kitts now). Just as an FYI too - the label will be a one-piece wraparound with a very cool "SOS" note on the inside (from the ship's crew). Here's some of the info I've found on the actual wreck: http://www.cronaca.com/archives/000979.html ; http://www.marinarkeologi.net/pdf/mt3-2003_16-18.pdf -- We should have 1st container imported in April or May. Can't thank you guys enough for your feedback. Cheers!

of those two options, I prefer the label towards the bottom. (tho I can see why it might be an issue for bartenders).

but the real preference would be to have a more unique label shape!
how about one that reflects the logo of the old ship's wheel - maybe a larger round label with the wheel in the middle and a smaller 'strap' holding it around the bottle?
just try something that stands out more than the typical rectangular label.

(but you know, we'll drink it no matter what the label looks like!!!)

both look great but i will have to go against the majority and say mid placment. I have a bar in basement and have a speed wrack. with label on bottom it would be down in the bottom of the speed wrack for no one to see. very cool label. can't wait till you can get this stuff into PA

It's VERY somple....when you cut a box to diplay it in a stack the low placed labels are always partially obscured and lose their inmpact....customers are less likely to stop and pick up a bottle to read the rest of the label when they can SEE the Captain label because it's in the center of the bottle...name me one BIG Spirit Brand that has a label set on the bottom half of the bottle

Great packaging, I'm sure the product in the bottle will be as good as all of your rums. Great success!
    Take care,

I wanted to like the lower, because it looked modern, but up close it looked like a wine bottle. I like the mid better. Great label though !

    They both look good!
I vote for the lower placement.

Just a suggestion ........The Label needs to in the Middle of the Bottle ..... consider looking at the Bottle on the back of the Bar ....if the label is to low on the bottle ...it could be hidden from other products in front of it ...therefore ... the consumer will not have a chance to see it

    low, low, lower!
    how low can you go?!
    even lower!!

"Bottoms Up!" Would be fun to have some true gold flecks sunk to the bottom, eh? Congrats to the newest member of the Brinley Gold family!

I vote for the bottom... it displays the product better.. the rum it's self is a beautiful color, and more eye appealing to see. The label is great, but more distinctive when placed @ the bottom I think... it will stand out.. at least it would to me... that is if there is any left anywhere in the U.S. that I can't get my hand on, once it hits the shelves!

The lower label shows more of the product ( sweet honey from the gods) I feel you will find it stands out from other bottle label placements. Now to find the beach with the shipwreck rum laying in the sun...hummm!

lower label, because shipwrecks are lower, and when pouring the cotents of the bottle you do not cover the label

  • John Francis - 14 years ago

i like lower because it gives the product a more modern feel to and old concept.

The lower placement allows more of the bare bottle to show. I imagine this to look more like a bottle of rum that might have been consumed by a pirate in the early 18th century when there was little or no labeling. Very cool.

Love Both of these labels. Very distinct design. Minimalist and cool. Well done.
I like the bottom placement better.

WILL STAND OUT BECAUSE IT LOOKS DIFFERENT THAN OTHER LABLES
