too old, too slow, too expensive. we have enough veterans now. we got to focus on pitching and bringing up young guys for a 2012 world series run.

Damon would not fit now that we have Bradley.

For less money I'd rather bring back Beltre. Then trade him at the deadline if he is having a good year. Would he take less than Figgins? Probably not but teams needing him are dropping fast.

Brent is 100% correct. But I'll take a much more sophmoric slant. Why overspend on a past prime Left fielder that has the most embarrasing "noodle" arm I have ever seen at any level Juco and above. Sure he hit with the Yanks...who doesn't? The RF porch is a joke and he is protected up and down the lineup. Save the free agent dollars for someone who has a future.

First, I don't understand the LF/DH platoon. Jr is the lefty bat in our DH platoon, so adding Damon to help at DH doesn't make any sense. Second, I read that Damon wants what he earned last year ($13 mil). I might pay 9 mil for him. Finally, signing anywhere outside of the Bronx means he'll play 81 more games at a MLB park (see Yankee Stadium Right Field Fence), so his power numbers will be way down in 2010.
