But the booting time has increased quite a lot...but I dont mind that since rest of the functionalities are almost perfect.

I love it. The final is considerably faster than the Betas or Alphas. My biggest (and probably only) complaint at this point is that, due to the new stupid Volume Controls, I can't unmute the output for Line-In or Mic inputs on my computer. This is important because I use that input for when I play video games using my Xbox360 connected to my monitor.

I agree with the LFD, ubuntu 9.10 has a lot going for it, but not being able to change the login screen really annoys me. This is usually the first thing I do, just to make my computer feel like my computer, instead of feeling like any computer. it's the reason I use linux - because it lets me do whatever I want whenever I want. I know there's workarounds to getting it to look like you want it, but why make it so difficult / why change it in the first place?

Could get a shot off at anytime on anybody. The sky hook was the highest percentage shot in the game, I would feel much more comfortable with the 8-10 foot hook then the 15-20 foot jumper. Kareem did it often, and their wasn't a soul on earth who could do anything about it. This is a tough list

Is it clutch to lost the NBA Finals 8 times, and 4 game 7 in finals?
Kobe is the man that's all !!!
Kobe has Gasol?! Maybe, we can say that, but West had only Elgin Baylor in his early carreer, and then Wilt and Goodrich... Oh what an unlucky man...

    (Respect Mr West)

Okay folks, all of them are/were clutch. I saw Jerry West & he was great, So was Kareem & Kobe is the best in the NBA today. But...no one was as clutch as Magic Johnson. No one! Magic know how to win & inspire his team to win. Go watch film of the showtime Lakers prepare to be astounded.

People who never saw Jerry West play can't understand there was somebody even more clutch than Kobe. I remember many times, when the Lakers needed a bucket at the end to win, the other four players would like up on the FAR side of the court, taking their defenders with them, and leaving Mr. Clutch and the hopeless defender all alone on the other side of the court, with no one to help him guard the greatest clutch player in history. We would watch as Jerry would just work his man down, and at the last second, take the jumper HE wanted. And watch it go in. I remember him working the great defender Walt Fraizer at the 1972 all star game at the forum with about 12 seconds left. A fallaway jumper at the top of the key with Frazier all over him. Nothing but net as time expired to win the game for the West team. He was that great.

Kobie??? K O B I E???? You GOT to be kidding!!!! Kobie has NEVER done ANYTHING on his own!!! Before Pul Gasole came, the Lakers were lucky to even get into the play offs. They were just an average team, well a group of basketball players and one glory hog....kobie. Whoever voted for this ego as a "clutch" shooter never saw Magic or Jerry West. Or even Mr. Jabbar K. with the sweetest "sky hook". kobie is more like "mr choke" he leads the N.B.A. in bricks. He pays the Laker announcers to say his name no matter who scores. "Great shot by Fisher!!! kobie is in the locker room throwing up".
kobie pays for each time he gets a cameria shot. Omar does a break away slam dunk after he steals the ball, kobie is laughing on the bench.... WHO CARES????? ALWAYS remember it took your hero 13 years to learn what Mr. Magic Johnson already KNEW in ONE. The ONLY thing kobie has done on his own... a scoring title, but no ring...NEVER as a "kobie team" If you look at "kobie team" as he does, you'll see "I" and "ME" in those two words.

    WHAT ABOUT WILT CHAMBERLAIIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Tracy Jonasse - 14 years ago

What about D fish? When i think of clutch shooting, his name should b considered. Yes kobe hit the game winners in two recent games and many before that, but who was the setup guy in both of those games? Fish! All time clutch, tough to say, at least give fish honorable mention

This is an incredibly tough list. First of all, probably 70% of the voters never saw Jerry West play. There is a reason he is "the logo." He is also so clutch that he is the only member of the losing team ever to be chosen as The Finals MVP.

Kobe Bryant is the most clutch player in the game today. His talent and determination are remarkable.

However, if anyone wants to know who is the greatest clutch player in Laker history, just watch game 6 of the 1980 Finals. 42 points, 17 rebounds, 7 assists, and playing what Bill Russell described as a new position (since he played all 5 at some point during the game). It is hands down the greatest single performance in finals history, and he was a 20 year old rookie who should have been a college junior. And he did it all with that year's league MVP sitting in bed back in LA.

There is a reason that after game 4 in the 1987 Finals Bird said, "Magic....I don't know what to say....he's just the best I've ever seen."

  • JJ - 14 years ago

To my mind, of the post-1980 Lakers, it's clearly Kobe. Magic was the man, but generally speaking you wanted him passing not shooting (other than the junior sky hook, not a whole lot of last-second shots). Kareem was always consistent (drainiing about 50% of his sky hooks), but he never seemed like a player who had a sense of "the moment." Kobe, on the other hand, has made his living taking what for most players would be bad shots. During the game, it might drive you crazy. But at the end of the game, there's not a shot he can't make. Dude's a cold-blooded killer.

But what about "Mr. Clutch"? I've only seen highlights, so I can only surmise. But the guy in the NBA logo. I have a feeling I missed out on the greatest clutch Laker of all time...but I don't know!!!! Anyone who has additional info/anecdotes about West, please share. I want to learn more.

Not a fair question....no one under 40 EVer saw West Play...let us all be thankful we had 4 greats to consider

  • Ramon - 14 years ago

It's a tough thing to have choose who is the best in the clutch. Right now, today, I would have to vote for Bryant, but in the early 2000's when the Lakers were winning championships, I would vote for Robert Horry. The folks that saw the team of the 80's with Magic and Kareem, would probably vote for Kareem. In the 70's it would be Jerry West. So they were and are all great in their time. Something about putting on a Laker uniform that brings out the best in players. In the future we will be voting for another great Laker clutch shooter.

  • ferenc - 14 years ago

three quarters of the voters never saw mr. clutch play, so they can't vote for him. JERRY WEST!

  • Armand Nava - 14 years ago

Jerry West played in an era where there was not a 3-point line - many of his great shots would've coounted for more. Also - he played on some teams that were not winning that much. Still - I have to go with Mr. Clutch - the Logo.

  • M. Martinez - 14 years ago

I never saw Jerry West play but I have followed the Lakers since the early 80's and all of these guys are definitely clutch, but when you have LeBron James deferring to Kobe Bryant with the game on the line during the title game at the 2008 Olympics, I'm going to have to go with Kobe.

  • Terry Crow - 14 years ago

The NBA was a lot more compact and each team had its share of stars when West played. I guess most people have forgotten just how good he was in the 60s and 70s. All of the players on this list are exceptional clutch shooters, but Jerry West is the best of all time for any team, not just the Lakers.

  • paul williams - 14 years ago

Nick Van Excel! Everyone on this list is great, but I would like to see Nick on the list to add some variety! And I agree that Horry should be on the list also!

  • Slim - 14 years ago

    Derek Fisher, anyone?

  • Gilbert Derriso jr - 14 years ago

I think kobe is the best clutch player because the game has evolved soo much since the showtime lakers but I think magic is a good clutch player too

  • Michigan Laker Fan - 14 years ago

What a list! As of today, it is a three horse race between Kareem and Magic with Kobe gaining real fast and West a solid fourth. Kareem - he was the number one option for five NBA championship and additional conference championship teams. Magic - what is more clutch than having been responsible for putting the entire team in position to compete for, and win, multiple championships. Kobe - two more wins and he has achieved Kareem status while carrying a greater load than Kareem had to. In addition, Kobe may be competing against better players overall (International), I place West fourth because, as David stated "Clutch" should result championships.

last second shots for wins have the drama, get the attention, along with the memory...but clutch is more than that. it's more of the determination that you can't stop me. i won't get beat. and in this, i going to impose my will to win no matter what is done to stop me. it's kobe.

  • Pepper - 14 years ago

Its the sky hook and therefore its Abdul Jabbar. Hook shots are very hard to block. There is only one person who could shoot the sky hook. Magic had what we called a baby sky hook because feasibly it could be blocked. No one could get the sky hook. He could get that shot off any time he so desired and there was nothing short of grabbing him that could be done. Its was the highest percentage shot I can remember. It was incredible to see. If you ever saw it then there is no comparison and no question. The greatest clutch shooter in the game was Abdul Jabbar.

Did you guys forget about me already?

How soon we all forget. Jerry West was "Mr Clutch". How well I remember all those last second made shots. However, they didn't lead to the wins that Kobe seems to generate. So, my vote has to go to Kobe with a very close second for West.
