Actually, I think Article VI section 3 of the original (un-amended) constitution is far more explicit:
The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.
This even more directly on point and explicitly says that it applies to state officials as well as federal ones.
A provision of a state constitution is moot if it violates the US Constitution. Since it does (1st Amendment Establishment Clause), the provision of the state constitution must be ignored.
