Is IHOP A Cult?

What Christian ministry would advise its members to cut off ALL communication with parents who disagree with its teachings? Doesn't that go against that part that says, "Honor thy father and thy mother"?

Allen Hood, Mike Bickle -- God have mercy on you for what you've helped in doing to destroy my son's relationship with his me - his mother. You have spit on God's word - and sadly, you've encouraged my own flesh and blood to do the very same. ZERO communication for over TWO YEARS now.

Let me also note that when my son wrote me to tell me he'd made this decision "after receiving older and wiser council".. he made it a point to "prophecy" that "this time of silence between us would lead to a godly reconciliation".. Terribly sorry, IHOP, but there is nothing godly about this. Nodda.

you will always have good and bad ppl taking things way out of portion when someone delivers a powerful message. Your son needs to encounter the Lord.either they were not informed rightly about your relationship or you are not telling the whole story. IHOP does not teach anything against parents.actually opposite. Allen has said to take at least ten years of prayer and reading/studying before you step out and try to make yourself someone your not. You have been hurt by what your son has done and your taking it out on IHOP. I can guarantee you that no one would advice him to just stop communucation bc you dont agree. ppl will take anything and make it into anything they want these days.i dont get it.

To be fair their is two sides to every story. We have not heard this lady's sons story or Mike Bickle. I sincerely believe Mike Bickle began with a passionate love for the Lord and his books on being passionately inlove with the Lord helped me grow spiritually. I found nothing that contradictory from the bible. Now if he has changed in some way he can repent of any error or pride and be just as restored as if he is brand new. Please folks don't be like the Elder brother in the Prodigal Son Story! When you are down you may also need restoration in love. There is no one on the face of this earth perfect which is why we needed Saving in the first place!

I wrote and asked if i-hop was a cult, and no one has written back...I am still waiting... My daughter is showing an interest in i-hop, but I have been praying; but don't have a total peace about it.... If it is not; why doesn't someone write back and explain more.... still waiting.... thanks
