Indie directors making kids movies: Can they really be for kids?

Yeah, totally! "Where the Wild Things Are" is awesome!

Really, it depends on the kid. If the kid's last name is Tenenbaum, maybe.

Probably not, but man, they sure make pretty good adult movies.

Like for-adults-more-than-kids retro chestnut "Pete & Pete," they'll probably have a cult audience 20 years from now.

I'll rip my hair out if another director comes up with a movie "for kids" like "Fantastic Mr. Fox."
