I don't it's in the best interests of security to publish/point out camera locations. That information could be used by criminals as well as innocents.
Security cameras are not an invasion of privacy. They deter crime and help solve those crimes that are committed. Great Britain uses cameras to monitor traffic, the public, and help send police where they are needed. Great Britain has thousands of cameras located throughout the country. Some cameras even have a PA system so that the person monitoring the camera can talk to someone littering. CBS reported this a few years ago.
@Carlisle Bean
You are correct, Britain does use cameras to observe and report many things from traffic to crime.
Britain also gave us Orwell, and the novel "Nineteen Eighty-Four". I quote a wallpaper I saw once, "1984 is not an instruction manual." I couldn't agree more.
I don't believe anyone should be recorded without consent. I was opposed to Bush's patriot act, and I oppose this, though it may be old news.
Britain doesn't have the same freedoms we do. So the people do not get to oppose the installation of cameras.
I see both sides of the issue. But, when it comes down to it, having all that information about a person, you know, police can be bad at times too. Some slip through the cracks. Rare, but it happens. I like the safety, but I am wary of the potential abuse. Let's just be really careful folks!
You have no reasonable expectation of privacy when you are in a public place, so this is really a non-issue.
I like knowing that we do have cameras to logon to , in all parts of the the world from the internet in order to see what it may look like on the other end. But knowing that i can control them by moving them in anyway i want to as well as zoom; is NOT vary good security so im Not for it.
