Is anyone really amazed at this. Just goes to show that our governor Taxdue is not willing to work with anyone who is not a taxocrat.
She is as dirty as Mike Sleezly
Everyone has to run for office in the future, need to be certain the fences are mended and the electorate is pacified and sedated.
Of course it's because of Foxx. Duh!
It is fairly evident that Gov. Perdue had no intentions on finishing 485 until she had an ally in office as Charlottes mayor. This is typical party line partisan politics. Unfortunately due to the currnet political climate I think if it were Republicans were involved you would see the same political posturing...
It is a sad state of affiars when the actual needs of the constituants takes a back seat to the needs of the party.
Our founding fathers would be saddened
Good old boy network at work.
The devil is in the details - let see what Foxx has to pay for it with first.
One thing you can bet with Perdue is that it will not be cheap.
Imagine the outrage in the media if a Republican Governor waited for the states largest city to get a Republican mayor to give them the money for a crucial highway to be completed. The media would have a collective stroke.
All I have to say is watch your wallet... we'll be paying for this one
If she puts this in play now then I think that the current mayor can take full credit for it. Now if she waits until Foxx takes office then that is something else. We will see.
It is going to cost a bundle of money to finish but the faster, the cheaper.
Why would our Governor try to help an opponent? This is partisan politics at its best, and from a political perspective, this is what we should expect.
And let me add, I believe that partisan politics are a good thing. If you have the power, you have to use the power before things shift again. Trying to bring opponents on board is futile, as we have seen with Republicans and health care. You just have push your agenda as hard as possible and make sure you have that magic 50+1. If you look at the vote in the House this weekend, it really does not matter that it was close. Democrats cut deals until they got the required majority, and then they took the vote. It was brilliant politics.
To zepica. George Bush gave his vp's company a no bid contract. Cheney's stock grew ten fold and the media gave him a pass. It is a straw man argument. And by the way, that company is directly responsible for the death of 13 US soldiers and the press continues to be silent.
Hey IMDEM, finishing 485 isn't supposed to be about helping an "opponent." It's about finishing a project that is LONG overdue that will help everyone in the region. She is a slime ball that only got elected Governor because of a lot of stupid people voted straight ticket for the democrats.
Straight ticket voting should be abolished.
Purely NC down east politics. You don't really think that we will get this as a gift from old Bev? The state doesn't have the money to pay for the road. So it will either be more taxes or a toll or both.
Jerry, you might want to check to see how many no bid contacts Clinton gave Halliburton. Good try but try again.
south carolina is looking better and better.especially since the naacp is boycotting it.i just hope that they keep their promise.
Your desire to jbc(just blame clinton) has caused you to miss the point. Haliburton was a military contractor long before Bill Clinton came into office but there was no connection between President and contractor prior to office. You're entitled to your own set of beliefs, but not your own set of facts. Haliburton was in the bidding pool until Cheney took them out and saved them from bankruptcy. No comment on the 13 dead soldiers, must be an America hater on the other end.
Politics, plain and simple.
Jerry, are you a lunatic? YOU brought up the no bid contracts with Bush and Halliburton, not me. I simply pointed out that it happened BEFORE Bush as well. I guess you wanted to (or hoped that everyone else would) forget about that. You are the one setting up a straw man argument to deflect the attention away from Perdue's disgusting partisanship with road building.
I'm not trying to "blame" Clinton for anything. I'm simply pointing out your lack of disclosure.
I'm just glad I don't live in Meck county, it's bad enough just being in a surrounding county. And yes the Dem's are tribal in their actions, remember it takes a village!
It's been said many times, but let me point out once more to all of you who hate living here: You can always leave the city, county, state or country. Nobody is keeping you. I'd rather you leave than hear you whine all the time.
Foxx is a democrat ("democratic" is a process).
true, and your point is? You lost me.
And Jerry, if you think the media gave Bush/Cheney a pass on Halliburton, you ARE a lunatic.
