As others have stated, yes the viper made several track runs to make the record run. but the Corvette also made more then one run to improve on the posted time. In terms of comfort the Corvette wins every time, but the ACR version of the viper was not designed to be comfortable it was designed simply to go fast. The corvette looks almost exactly like a ZO6 and the are so common that a ZR1 is likely to be mistaken for a normal ZO6. When people see a viper the turn and look, or kick themselves for missing it, i mean come on how many times do you see a ACR viper driving down the road? it may just be where i live but i see corvettes almost daily and have only ever seen one ACR, and only 2 other vipers and they were both at car shows. Personally I would prefer the Viper due to the fact that it is not a common car and was built for one purpose.. speed and would love to bring it to the track near my home.

either the specifications are incorrect or one of these cars defies physics. the HP/Weight ratio is superior on the ZR1 yet it is even in performance to the heavier, less powered, less torque Viper? I dont think so. the ZR1 is actually underrated on HP and closer to 650. 0-60MPH is closer to 3.1 and is all about tires and temperature. the one aspect that the Viper does well is track handling and in that category it matches the ZR1. the difference noted was because Dodge spent several trials to meet or barely beat the ZR1 which set the record in a single run.

the Vette! yes the viper wins around the green hell, but the dodge team spent all day at the track adjusting the viper to break the vettes record. and might i add; the viper has a 8.4 ltr v10...! where the vette has 6.2 v8. yes the vette is charged but come on...thats a 2.2 ltr difference! just look at the two cars...you would think with as race ready looking the viper is it would completly destroy the vette, but look at the numbers...the vette keeps up with it. and last time i read the viper had a governer that wouldnt allow it to go past 175...

I love the front-end design of the Viper!
On July 30, 2010, I actually got to test drive one!
It was a rare 2008 Venom-Red, convertible, 600 HP monster!
Boy, I'll tell you, I was so excited to hammer the throttle at 60 and feel it roar to over 90 in almost no time!

That's all I got to say 'bout that...

You see, I have a Maroon 2006 Convertible Vette. It has "only" 400 HP.
I’d heard that the Viper was the next step up so I test drove a newer, more powerful Viper. I heard this through the wrong grapevine I guess.
I wanted to keep the “Maroon” color the same as it is my favourite.
I needed the Convertible because it's the only way to go.

    Here’s my 2008, 600 HP Viper Review:

First off, the Viper is much more uncomfortable to sit in than a Vette. If you’re in its spindly seats for more than 15 minutes, you’ll need a physiotherapist to help you get moving again and they aren’t cheap!

You also sit so close to the wheel/dash that if the airbags went off, you’d actually fit into its pathetically tiny trunk space.

Make sure you get as many gawkers as you can to help you raise and lower the roof, you’re gonna need their help! Kind of reminded me of the Transformers.

It must have been Friday at 4:55 pm when the engineers designed the SC(Skeletal-Convertible) top that looks like an unfinished mess when it’s down.

    Lesson learned: Get a Coupe.

The Viper comes with a 500 Watt stereo. After my test drive, I realized they should’ve put in a 1000 Watt stereo to cleverly disguise the road noise…

I thought it was totally unfair that the Viper stole its rear-end design from the Sebring and its instrument cluster from the PT Cruiser club. You’ll be hearing from them.

Whatever you do, always, always adjust your seat BEFORE you close the door.

To help you get where you’re going (hopefully only a few minutes away), the Viper comes with a Navigation system and screen that doubles as a business card holder. Yes, it’s that big. Even bigger with Bi-focals on!

My disappointment in the Viper has turned to relief.

Now I know what the difference is between a Viper and a Vette.

    EVERYTHING!

Oh and just so it doesn’t seem like I’m slamming the Viper, I absolutely LOVED the huge rear tires!!!

No doubt about it, the viper is faster on the track and it looks much meaner. the viper will just kill the corvettes looks. its 8.4 l v-10 engine makes it difficult for even the supercharged vette to win. the viper is way cheaper in the united states which is another advantage.even though it weigh upto 80 lbs more than the corvette it beats it. The sad part is even though it is supercharged, has more torque and horse power, it cannot take the viper down. The viper even wins the quarter mile by a mere second and to conclude all this , it is a NÜRBURGRING record holder, beating the corvette by three seconds. My suggestion to all wud be the viper which has a new menacing and a beasty look rather than the vette zr1 which is jus a copy of the z06.-----

Both amazing, but the Vette does it with comfort and class. More to a car than running flat out. Have a 2001 convert Corvette which is old, but still delivers more smiles and satistfaction than you would expect. Great for long drives as well as making just simple utility drives into special events! Hope to trade up to a C6 some day.

The Viper! Its faster on the track and gets attention when you drive one. Everyone looks at a Viper like its a Ferrari, the Vette kicks serious butt but looks to ordinary. Everyone has been talking about that Nissan GTR but I seen a few of them and didnt even notice it. Thought it was a G35... Who cares.
