What's Going On? (Position 2)



White's best is 1. b5 axb5 2. Ra7 Qb8 3. Rxe7 because 3...Rxc3 is not a problem.

White's best is 1. Nd5 and black has nothing better than 1....Nxd5 2. exd5 Bxd4 3. dxc6 and white wins.

White's best is the immediate 1. fxg6 to uncover a latent attack on f7.

In the variation starting with 1. b5 above, 3...Rxc3 IS a problem and white should therefore avoid 1. b5.

In the variation starting with 1. Nd5, there is a huge tactical flaw and black can turn the tables completely.
