The logic behind the use of ONE single national emergency number must surely be obvious to all. The technology exists.
Logic and the ANC are not words that can be used in the same sentence, there would need to some financial gain for the relevant department heads before this decision would be taken
One National Emergency Number is the common sense thing to do.
The reality is that the more sophisticated and fast technology moves, the longer it takes to get things done.
It's an attitude problem.
It seems that those in government are not applying their minds fast enough.
Apart from plain common sense, many emergencies occur while on holiday i.e. OUT OF YOUR REGIONAL AREA, rendering the regional number useless even if you do remember it in your panic.
There is a system in SA that works teh same as 911 in the USA. One number that you phone for ambulance, police, fire brigade and it is a national number so you can phone it anywhere in SA. The number is toll free if you phone from a Telkom line. The identification they offer is the first in the world
If you require complete peace of mind then this is the service you should aquire.
