Reconnaissance should be a primary MOS for officers. (Poll Closed)

oUR OFFICERS ARE ALREADY THE BEST OF THE BEST. ADDING RECON TO THEIR MOS IS NOT A GOOD IDEA. HERE'S WHY, IF YOU ARE A PILOT YOU'RE A PILOT, NOT A RECON. IF YOU ARE AN S3 OR S4, YOU ARE NOT A RECON. I BELIEVE THE CORPS SHOULD LEAVE THE RECONNAISSANCE SPECIALTY TO THOSE MARINES WHO ARE PERMINENTLY ASSIGNED TO IT. RECONNAISSANCE IS AN ALL INCOMPASSING FULL TIME SPECIALTY THAT BY IT'S NATURE CAN NEVER BE A SIDE LINE. THERE IS NO ROOM FOR PART TIMERS NO MATTER HOW GOOD THEIR INTENSIONS. THE RECONNAISSANCE OFFICERS I SERVED WITH WERE A VARY SPECIAL BREED OF MARINE, AND WE MARINES WHO SERVE UNDER THEM KNEW THAT THEY WERE AS WELL TRAINED AS HE IS. THIS TRAINING NEEDS TO BE UP TO DATE AND COMBINED WITH THE MOST RECENT INTELLAGENCE TO BE USEFULL ON ANY TYPE OF RECONNAISSANCE MISSION. THIS SKILL IS SOMETHING NOT EVERYONE IS GOING TO BE COMPITENT WITH, THIS IS ANOTHER REASON WHY RECON OFFICERS SHOULD BE FEW AND FAR BETWEEN. TO STAMP IT ON ALL MARINE OFFICERS AS A PRIMARY MOS IS SHORT SIGHTED AND SHOULD BE GIVEN A SECOND LOOK FROM THE RECON STANDPOINT BEFORE IT IS CONSIDERED AS MAIRNE CORPS DOCTRINE.

1. Enlisted or Officer the candidate should spend time with the Infantry first, so they are familiar with the organization they exist to support.

2. 100% Agree with the author, diving and jumping is a small part of the picture.

3. Definitely need to come up with some kind of "officer pipeline." Officers can go to dive school without calling themselves 0321 the enlisted side earns the title of recon Marine first. In order to ligitamize the leadership, there should be some kind of training pipeline for officers.

4. How are we going to maintain a "Recon Community" with the creation of MARSOC? Seems like lot of officers take selection after time at recon. Would they be two different career paths?
