Do you understand how an "opt out" government option would work?

I am so scared. I am so scared, I think I might wet my pants. I am so scared, I can't sleep at night. I am so scared, Obama is going to make me lose everything. I am so scared, everybody, come on, be scared with me. If we can scare enough people into being scared, maybe we can stay up all night and work to earn more money so we can buy all those books being written about how scared we should be.

HERE HOW IT 'WOKRS';

The STATE (any state) will... or not,... accept the 'CONSUMMER OPTION', so nobody in that state (whichever state said 'no') does not have to buy...adquire...take it,... the GOVERNEMENT OPTION.......Ok so far?

However (BIG HOWEVER!) ....ready for this?....THE STATE IS TO 'CONTRIBUTE ' / PAY / SEND TAXPAYERS MONEY (to the 'common good' / GOVERNMENT FUND-FOR-UNIVERSAL HEALTH PROGRAM)...TO COVER FOR THE 'CONSUMMER OPTION (GOVERNMENT PLAN)...THAT IS NOT USING!

So in others words; ..."DARN IF YOU DO,...AND DARN IF YOU DON'T"....sort of speak.

Clear now?

Very nasty!..isn't it?

I'm sure they (the experts) will be able to put a pricetag on this healthcare when each state will decide to opt in or out???????? Let's see, next year Hawaii might like to opt out and the list goes on and on! This is ludicrous.......another "PLAN" to get what they want....do they think we are that stupid? I couldn't vote on this poll because I know what they SAY the "opt out" option is, but I know that it will in no way resemble the ay it will actually play out. Anyone who thinks they can "opt out" has a few screws loose. Once the government gets it's greedy, incompetent hands on the health care system, you can kiss our quality of care good-bye. Does it need tweaking? Yes. But it doesn't need over-hauling. Simply, allow insurance policies for health care to be purchased across state lines (change and competition!), address the pre-existing condition issue (perhaps these people would need to be covered by a government policy for a period, say, 2 years, then they are eligible for a private policy and can't be turned down. The insurance cos. could subsidize this practice- like pro-bono work in the legal sector)and address tort reform (set limits to jury awards- like with Workman's Comp.). There. Done. Next unsolvable problem, please.

I don't have health insurance. I belong to Samaritay Ministries. They are a group of over 14,000 Christians and we insure each other. $130 or so a month. $300 a year for bills over $100,000.00 and $180 a year for maint. fees. No help for preventive maint. but for the price I'm paying I can pay my own and I don't run to the Dr. everytime I have a cold.

With the govt. doing what its doing their going to ruin this option. Its too bad more don't know about some of these options other than health care companies.

If my Dr. says I need a test I don't have to get authorization. I've had 3 claims with NO issues or problems.

I've contacted my reps. in WI. and of course Feingold and Kohl know whats best for me.

Well, when they come up for re-election I'll know whats best for them. NO VOTE FOR THEM!

DOCTOR IN FLORIDA: I wonder myself. The people running our states, well at least many, are as corrupt and butt kissing to those in Washington that I wonder if they will opt out.

I do agree with "Doctor from Florida." I am an Inner city hospital nurse for long time. My patients are happy too. My opinion is stop the Class action law suit and regular law suit towards hospitals. health care people which include Doctors. Obama is a lawyear so, I can not see change regarding 'Lawsuit." It is my opinion and it may be "IDIOTIC." Even I had to pay "Malpractice insurence Premeum." My opinion is AMA is a "Clueless organization" since, they donot work with every day illness that we take care of.

They just had a young girl on tv that was going through the same thing and was afraid of her parents.

I went to a most awesome Dr. in my 20's and 30's. He was from the Phillipines. He had money but he'd make his son work for a new bike. They had rules and duties. His daughter was junion miss in WI. years ago. A pianist. He was such a caring Dr. He'd take calls in the evening from patients if they had concerns of questions. Always knew the latest meds. and treatments. I adored him as a Dr. Thats when the HMO's were coming about. We spoke of those and how concerned he was about them because business's running health care means they care more about $ than saving a life.

Thats what I love about Samaritan Ministries. I don't even have to get an ok from them if my Dr. states I need testing due to a possible problem. Not just for maintenance but because he thinks about a potential health concern. I wouldn't trade it for my health insurance no way no how.

Isn't it odd that we can cover each other for a fraction of the cost but than there are no huge fancy buildings. When I receive a bill its to a person. We can pray for that person and send a card along with our payment. They also list others on this sheet with people who may have pre-existing problems that can't be covered. (The only reason being is that familys couldn't afford coverage. I think a family of any size is maybe $250.00 a month). With this list of people we can send donations to them to help them with health costs. Its just amazing.

Doesn't anyone know simple math? by the time they apply tax to every aspect of the consumer point of purchase to the begining of production even the uninsured will bepaying more to the government that if they just went out and bought some insurance. That's right, it would be cheaper than paying the tax increase. It is about power. And stupid people that do not understand the concept of free when spolen by a government power grabber.

Listen close, because I am dying. I would not be if not for medicare. I am laying in a hospital bed being fed drugs instead of surgery because medicare does not care. The death pannels are already here. I listened to my atty and went after medicare instead of my own insurance and because of that I am dying at 47 years old just because of a freak accident.

How I wish I had been able to put the money I paid into FICA into a savings plan. Then I would be able to pay for my surgery and get back to living instead of dying.

Samaritan Ministries. I looked this up.. I canceled my AARP/went with State Farm instead . I have a good State Farm Agent. We have all of ins. with him.

MJaneO: I'm so happy you checked it out. In the past, lets say, theres not enough $ to cover the bills and they only have enough to pay you 80%. What happens than is that us as members can pay the extra fee to help the member and thats what I always did. If it goes 3 months (I believe thats the magic #) we all vote on whether to raise our rates. You know what the increase is - maybe $10.00 a month. I can also go to any Dr. in any state. I'm not locked into WI. I can even go overseas. One just has to go to a "physician". I don't know what I'd do with out it.
They do have a special program for motor vehicle accident coverage and that isn't a lot per month either. I didn't opt for that.
Just goes to show that things like this can work and much better than govt. care.
Did you hear that Amtrak (govt. owned) loses somewhat around $30.00 per each user? Than you think.... hmmmm - and now they want to be in charge of my "body" my "life".

A member of our small community has cancer. She found an organization to help and through many donations came up with about $40,000 - at least thats what I heard.
I just can't believe (maybe I don't want to believe) that there is not someone out there to help.

Very sleepery slop we taking with this notion of "opt out". Why just say NO universal healthcare? How about many other things like: we do not want to be part of this union? Opt out is really simple to understand.
A state can ask the federal government (Pribably a Czar) to NOT be a part of government health care. If that state is the same color as the one in office at the time it will be allowed to get out, if not it won't.
But then big doners might also be allowed to get their state out when they get one of those secret briefings from a Presidentional staff member.

I have developed and worked under numerous OPT IN or OPT OUT contracts in my professional life. That isn't the issue. This is being suggested only as a means of selling an unwanted program to an unwanting public.

The suggested OPT OUT by state would theoretically allow a state to opt out of the program but the taxpaying citizens of the state would still be required to pay the fee/tax just as in all other states.

Only a true OPT OUT that would allow the residents of an OPTING OUT state to not be taxed and not participate in the program is honest.

I have never been involved in the health insurance industry so don't tar me with speculation. That said, health care insurance companys are no where near the top 25 American business sectors in profitability. If you believe they are terribly profitable then you are drinking the spin Kool-Aid. In fact most health care insurance companys are "non-profit" and many are mutuals, that is owned by the customers.

The health care industry can and should have reduced costs but the answer is not in a government run system. No business with government involvement has ever performed economically or met the most basic customer requirements. To believe be giving the government more control of your lives that costs will be reduced is just plain stupid and what does that make all who so believe?
