WHAT???? The city has laid off police, fire and DPW personnel, yet the city wants to give Durfee $200,00 to build a hot dog stand? Look at it this way, citizens of Fall River, your street may not be safe, there may be trash and rats all over the place and your house could burn down before the fire department can get there, but at least you'll be able to buy a hot dog at a Durfee football game.

Typical Liberal Fall River politicians have it backwards as always. You want concessions at Durfee. Allow vendors to come in and set up at their expense. Costs the city nothing. Actually makes the city money. Just keep the Liberals out of the equation or they would be required to sell tofu burgers and soy dogs on a bun.

This money isn't coming from the police department, fire department or even the heating assistance program. It's already allocated money for the school. If it's not used for a concession stand what is it going to be used for? Be realistic people, it's not going to pay 5 teachers salaries for a year, give it to the field. If you don't like the way the money is spread out into the city, vote, get new people in the offices to make better budgeting decisions. But now this money needs to be used, again, give it to the field. It will be an on going long term way to give money back to the school.

Perhaps if the school had a 90% graduation rate it would be at least considered.
Last I read barely 60% graduated. That is pathetic. They deserve nothing at Durfee until them drastically improve. Jen, please present your argument for that.

It seems to me that even if the monies are available and aren't enough to hire more teachers, there are other priorities that should be attended to first. After all, with the patrolling and supervision at the high school, those concessions stands won't last a year before they're broken into and ransacked.

Agreed that private vendors should be allowed in. THAT would help the community in more ways than having a school financed and controlled 'hot dog' stand at the field.

Vendors would be taking away from the students! The money raised from the "HOT DOGS" sold at Durfee goes right back to the students. The DPAC, (durfee parents) and Sports Boosters arrange different events and present scholarships to the students. Go a head and "BRING IN THE VENDORS" and you take away from the students, again. Scott come to Durfee and tell the student body that "they deserve nothing at Durfee"
