Joba Chamberlain blame for the Yankees' ...... loss

  • ron - 15 years ago

All year they have left runners in scoring position. They did well overall because they had so many scoring opportunities. Look at Cano, 320 average, but horrible with men on base. Tex. is going to make people forget Arod bad past playoffs. Great fielder, but he can't even make contact. Looks like April all over again. When he uses Gardner, he must run him early, or there will be a DP, or pitch out like last night. Girardi want to be called a genius. Not in this lifetime.

  • leonard from california - 15 years ago

Joe it is not about you. No more bonehead moves to make you feel part of it. You want something to do, talk to Teixeira and send Chamberlain out for ice cream pickup in Canada (so he does not return until November. Be useful Joe this is not a test exam at Northwestern relax enjoy the team that management has put together and the wins will come. Lets Go Yanke e e e s

It all comes down to this: SCORE MORE RUNS THAN THE OPPOSITION.

It's tough enough being a YANKEES fan in MASSACHUSETTS, but when they finally get back to the playoff's with a dominant team, but a JOKE for a MISMANAGER, it really make's me want to PUKE!!!!!! GET RID OF BLO GEE-WHERE-ARE-WE. The YOUNG STINEBUMMER'S are IDIOT'S for not letting DON MATTINGLY MANAGE. I wouldn't want BLO GEE-WHERE-ARE-WE managing my son's TEE-BALL TEAM. I just hope GEE-WHERE-ARE WE can get it to gether before he MISMANAGE'S the YANKEES OUT OF THE WORLD SERIES. Because it will be a long year listening to my RED SOX LOVING FRIEND'S AGAIN.

  • Jay Hall - 15 years ago

I don.t think the yankees spent enough money last year. They loose one game and the whole city gives up. They got the old red sox curse, it has been transfered to them. Spend more money next year, and give it another try.

Joe Torre's post season disasters (Arizona, Florida, Detroit, Cleveland, Angels and the worst:Sweat Sox in '04)
Joe Girardi post season disasters (Angels,.....)
unless ofcourse he learns his lesson and leavews the dam.. pitchers alone.
Wait, we still have a chance to see him pay more visits to the mound.... before the next pitch is another (Guerrero, fill in, fill in...) HR?

yankee fan at game 3.tex.is not hitting just lay one down 3rd with arod ,start things get on base.taking robertson out with 2 outs, one dumb move, start gardener sit nickswisher.go c.c game 4

  • mascmen7 - 15 years ago

You have the incompetent Girardi. We Red Sox fan have the very incompetent Terry Francoma who has no idea how to manage a game. He is only good at dealing with the press, front office and older veterans his age who he lets play even though they are useless. Varitek, Wakefield, Lowrie.

  • Eguy27 - 15 years ago

I have been a long time Yankees fan who moved to Boston 6 years ago. I've started to dislike the Yankees since they passed on Donny Baseball and hired this nitwit to replace Torre. I don't ever want to be a Red Sox fan, but it is getting harder and harder to love my Yankees when with Joe Girardi at their manager.

  • silvana - 15 years ago

This Girardi move will be turning point edge for the Angels. Another playoff elimination for the Yankees.

  • CW - 15 years ago

Joe Girardi single handedly lost this game last night. Taking Robertson was the single worst move he has made since the series began. He is using this bullpen like he is scared and it has to stop. He is overmanaging this team and putting in CC on 3 days rest is a huge gamble. If CC doesn't have it tonight and he has to take him out what happens then? He is burning out his bullpen at amazing speed and if we lose this series it will be all on him. Get it together Joe and let them play the game. Stop thinking this game to death. Please upper management sit him down and tell him to stop with the ridiculous moves.

  • nettles_78 - 15 years ago

Bottom line, Girardi was out managed by his own players and by Mike Sciosia. Yes, by his own players. First, whoever called for a fastball to Vlad on 2-2 made a boneheaded choice. Hell, you walk the guy before you give him a gift fastball that ties the score. To me, that was the pitch and the hit that changed this series. And second, You never ever steal on an 0-1 count. When they know you're running, they almost always do a pitchout on the second pitch. Girardi elects to send Gardner and he's toast. Two pitches later, game tying HR by Jorge instead of a 5-4 yankees lead. If the Yanks don't bring their bats to life, this series is over!!!

  • Paul Mangano - 15 years ago

I could not believe my eyes on the pitching change. The man gets two outs. He can'tet three? Come on man...... Gifts are for Christmas not the playoffs.

  • John Astorina - 15 years ago

Awful managing, what else can one say. However, Swisher, Melky need to stop swinging at pitches in the dirt and out of the strike zone. A contact hitter like Hairston or Gardner would have had better at bats and possibly driven in those runners on third. Just awful management of the pitching, the Yanks key advantage, is a serious undoing. Gerardi needs to clear his mind. John Astorina

"Then to take Robertson out for Aceves and deplete your bullpen even more? That was really a dumb move!"

    The defining moment for sure.

  • Kevin Jay - 15 years ago

The Yankees simply have NO bench. There is not one player who can come off the bench and end a game with one swing. Their top 3 stars can not continue to carry the rest of the team on their coat tails.
Girardi is a nightmare and has been from day one. While the top of his line up has carried the team this season, you need a threat from the bench. The "smurfs" on the Yankee bench are lucky to get a ball out of the infield.

  • caesar - 15 years ago

ever hear of Paralysis by analysis?
    that's Joe.
    You're a MANAGER, Joe.
I could find a high school kid to make moves by reading computer reports!
    Think, manage, think, manage!

  • Joe - 15 years ago

Also, what are the Yankee's going to do about Nick Swisher? He's slow as molasses in right field and is a wasted At-Bat. The Yankee's are leaving too many men on base in scoring position and Swisher is the main reason.

  • Joe - 15 years ago

If the Yankee's lost it all, the management needs to do a Grady Little on Joe Giradi because yesterdays game would've been the defining moment. We all could tell Petite was tired. Why else would he keep throwing over to first base with the slowpoke Bobby Abrau on? But Giradi kept him in and the Yankee's paid for it. Then to take Robertson out for Aceves and deplete your bullpen even more? That was really a dumb move!

  • lonny harding - 15 years ago

one word JOE----BUNT---again,listen---BUNT----.first and second on one out-----twice ,same guys,cano-doesnt hit with guys on, BUNT CANO. now second and third one out , BUNT--SWISHER, WHO IS SO OVER MATCHED YOU WONDER HOW HE HIT 249, BUNT - SQUEEZE THE RUN HOME, MAKE PRODUCTIVE OUT WITH THESE GUYS. WE WOULD HAVE WON THEN. ALSO DONT PINCHRUN FOR MATSUI, NO PROTECTION FOR AROD. THEN FORGET ACEVIES, HAS NOT LOOKED GOOD IN A MONTH.

  • Matt - 15 years ago

Girardi manages with such a HUGE chip on his shoulder. It is also why he never misses a chance to mess with Posada. He is trying so hard to prove his own worth. NEVER pinch run for your #5 hitter. If Matsui is in there then they cannot intentionally walk A-Rod. Steal on an 0-1 count with no out and a lefty up? His pitching changes are obviously idiotic, but the stupidity doesn't stop there. They need to send him home and announce he has swine flu and cannot manage anymore. Tony Pena will win the WS no problem.

  • Yanks4life - 15 years ago

I was at the game today. 3 major mistakes gave away this game. First of all, getting rid of Matsui for Gardiner was too early. Matsui walked and waiting and there was no reason to have Gardiner steal on a 0-1 count. Worst call of the night! Cost the Yankees the win because the other bonehead mistakes would have not been a problem because they would have not existed if Giradi just left all is well alone. 2nd was taking out Rivera with Cervelli batting. He has not even seen the field in two weeks and you take out Mo for Cervelli. Mo gets out and you have him 1 more inning, then you have Tex, Arod and Hairston coming up in the next inning. 3rd and almost fell out of my chair, was when he replaced Robertson who was blowing it by Rivera and Morales, for Aceves. Horrible move that cost the game. I hope Joe studies the film and realizes that he cost them the game, not the players on this one! Hope he got it out of his system and will make up for it on Tuesday night!

Yankees need to do basic bb, i.e., hit a single, double and most importantly, bring in the runners on base, they left so many Not Good.. It seems like they can't win without a homerun. Girardi really blew it by taking Robinson out when there was 2 out and after he took care of Morales. Mama mia, Girardi thinks he is that smart..duh.you left your brain somewhere. Keep bringing in Aceves, the other game, he almost lost the 2nd game. The other six guys not hitting, should start tomorrow or else vanish to oblivion. I can't believe they keep stranding runners. The others cannot depend on HOMERUNS alone, yankees need to get going. GO GET Them boys!!!

  • MIchael1951 - 15 years ago

Bring back Casey Stengal. Joe should be coaching the Raiders!

  • tonyc - 15 years ago

Girardi made a bone headed move in replacing Robertson with Aceves.. that was plain dumb!

  • sandy - 15 years ago

It's easy to blame Girardi for overmanaging but let's not forget that the Yankees wouldnt be in this position if Messrs. Texeira, Cabrera, and Swisher had managed to get a hit between them. Only a few players were responsible for any run production and that with the long ball. While a great defensive player, Texeira has been an offensive cipher in post season. And he looks intimidated on top of everything else. Cabrera is a journeyman: out of his element, as his Swisher. The Joba experiment is still paying negative dividends.

  • sean - 15 years ago

Don't need to say anything about the managing tonight, we all know it was awful, but how about a thing called "run production?" 0-8 with RISP, 10 left on. Unproductive out after unproductive out (SWISHER...Thanks bud). This team's offense isn't intimidating....it's stand around and wait for a homerun and that's not going to win a WS. We should have been up 6 or 7 zip by the 6th. If we don't win tomorrow, it's gonna go from bad to worse, Burnett-Lackey, Pettite-Saunders? It'll be the angels in six if we don't pull it out tomorrow. We were stading on their chests today going for the kill and we blew it. The team played like they were managed.....scared.

  • eduardo - 15 years ago

I don't watch post-game interviews, so I don't know what Girardi is saying about replacing Robertson, a very bad move. The scary thing is that Aceves looks very hittable. I cannot pinpoint what his pitching assets are. This might turn ugly, with Sabathia pitching on three days rest. The Angels are deeper in pitching.

  • doug t - 15 years ago

What is he thinking?? Robertson is sailing thruand he brings in Aceves who almost gave away the game the other night. He's been struggling lately, why is he even on the roster right now?
Joe G made 2 or 3 bone head moves today. Hopefully he did them all in this game and we can move forward

  • Justin Isham - 15 years ago

Swisher is a joke. Not getting those guys in would never happened for the Angels. Mike S would have blown a head gasket. Vlads HR would have meant nothing. DR had the hot hand...

  • randyy - 15 years ago

As it relates to pitching, Girardi thinks too much and doesn't have good instincts. The last two games have proven this claim. He drains the relief staff. And if these games went even a few more innings, the Yanks would've been out of pitchers. Pettitte should have been pulled after the first hit in the sixth inning. Sending Gardner on the steal on an 0-1 count was a bubblehead move. Losing the DH because of the switch was just stupid. He needs to get his act together or his moves will cost the Yankees another game. I still think the Yankees with win 6. But the WS will be tougher, especially when the NL team will have a manager will better instincts.

  • ron - 15 years ago

girardi blew this big time on the big stage,he out managed himself.it's unbelievable how a man can be so boneheaded in the decision to replace robertson.if the yankees don't make the series i can understand him being replaced and he should be.why is he going through the bullpen by having relief pitchers to come in a pitch to one batter and replace him with another to do the same.he loses his best defensive outfielder in gardner and ends up with hariston who would not have caught the ball if it had been a beach ball.in closing joe girardi is an idiot. and also having the 3rd string catcher hitting for rivera with two outs he may as wel have let rivera bat in that situation.the last inning did not play like yankee baseball but that of an inept clown being managed by one.

  • Anthony 1967 - 15 years ago

Girardi thinks he is so smart. Did you see him thumbing thru the scouting reports? Micro manage Joe. He Girardi your just a dumb jock

Its going to be tough for the Yankees to have to go against the opposing team and at the same time have to go against Girardi's moves. This guy is managing scared. Yankees will lose this series thanks to Joe Girardi. Will Anaheim send Girardi a ring?
