I will get the vaccination when available so no, I am not worried.

I don't worry about it because I am a Baby Boomer. However, I worry a lot about my friends and family who are under 45ish. I do worry about getting seasonal influenza, since I'm overdue for my flu vaccine. I am urging everyone I know with small children to have them and their caregivers vaccinated as soon as possible. The nasal flu vaccine seems to be a good choice for little ones without asthma. Also, for larger folks who can't stand needles. There are some people who faint when injected with anything and those folks should take the nasal vaccines if their health otherwise permits.

I will not take the h1n1 shot because they probaly didn't do enough research on the drug and a lot of people will die from it. I have never taken any flu shots anyway.

I received the following in an email...good advice
The only portals of entry are the nostrils and mouth/throat. In a global
epidemic of this nature, it's almost impossible to avoid coming into
contact with H1N1 in spite of all precautions.
Contact with H1N1 is not so much of a problem as proliferation is.

While you are still healthy and not showing any symptoms of H1N1
infection, in order to prevent proliferation,
and development of secondary infections, some very simple steps, not
fully highlighted in most official communications, can be practiced

1. Frequent hand-washing (well highlighted in all official
communications).

2. "Hands-off-the-face" approach. Resist all temptations to touch any
part of face (unless you want to eat, bathe or slap).

3. *Gargle twice a day with warm salt water (use Listerine if you don't
trust salt). *H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the throat/
nasal cavity to proliferate and show characteristic symptoms.
Simple gargling prevents proliferation. In a way, gargling with salt
water has the same effect on a healthy individual that Tamiflu has on an
infected one. Don't underestimate this simple, inexpensive and powerful
preventative method.

4. Similar to 3 above, *clean your nostrils at least once every day with
warm salt water. *Not everybody may be good at Jala Neti or Sutra Neti
(very good Yoga asanas to clean nasal cavities), but *blowing the nose
hard once a day and swabbing both nostrils with cotton buds dipped in
warm salt water is very effective in bringing down viral population.*

5. *Boost your natural immunity with foods that are rich in Vitamin C
(Amla and other citrus fruits). *If you have to supplement with Vitamin
C tablets, make sure that it also has Zinc to boost absorption.

6. *Drink as much of warm liquids (tea, coffee, etc) as you can.
*Drinking warm liquids has the same effect as gargling, but in the
reverse direction. They wash off proliferating viruses from the throat
into the stomach where they cannot survive, proliferate or do any harm

I worry more about our troops in Iraq & Afghanistan, their families back home, this health care package, and the debt obama has this country in (YES he owns it now... no blaming "the other guy")

My doctor worries more about the yearly flu than the SWINE FLUE (calling something else is dumb)

My imune system is low but I don't worry about h1n1. Just take neccessary precautions as you would aboyt catching anything. I have a friend who has had the dreaded H1N1, her daughter also and she said it was like any other flu. Maybe it is a manufactured, hyped up thing to sell medicine????

I mean I worry more about the shot, I understand some who take the shot have been experiencing less than desirable results, I saw one woman on the news who has Seizures every few minutes, they occurred "only" after the shot. So who knows how your system might react to the shot?

bobby,...now about Waxman, that is funny, I have been thinking that very thing for years, except I thought perhaps the nose, the ears, eyes might be caused by decades of shall we say, specialized-breeding. Yes, I am worried that I will get H1N1 because I am 83 yrs old and have COPD and Asthma. I have already gotten the regular flu shot. I am avoiding crowds and only go to the store once a week.

Ever hear of "Chicken Little"? Every time a govt agency opens its mouth anymore, they tell us the sky is falling. As far as I can tell, it's no more virulent than a run-of-the-mill seasonal flu.

Despite all the HYPE, there seem to be fewer deaths than in any other season. I've heard estimates that a typical flu seasons claims any where from 18 thousand to 35 thousand deaths a year. Since this began last spring, I think there are fewer than 2000.

All I know, is that every time the govt tries to "help" they generally make matters worse.
