I have two pc's one with XP one with Vista they both run fine dont see any reason to upgrade Vista works fine when you shut down all the Crap and bloat . If Windows Vista was so bad than Microsoft should update it for free . But lets face it Vista and XP where both considered Junk when they where released. If you want to make Microsoft rich go ahead and update.

I am running WinXP, and although I would like to check out Win7 some day, I have no plans or intention to 'upgrade' my XP machine to Win7. First off there is no software upgrade path, secondly, there is no way in hell I am going to sit there and reinstall all my apps and move data around in order to experience Windows 7. LOL no thanks! There isn't anything I can't do already on XP. If there was a way to do an in place upgrade (however messy the so called experts think it would be) I might consider it... but even then, I have a machine running XP which works perfectly fine and I don't need to dick around with things just because M$ and the industry at large tells me I have to conform.

I have a 4 year old machine (1.8 GHz) with XP Pro, Windows 7 or Ubuntu bootable at startup. XP Pro has had a problem since early Sept after another uSoft auto upgrade where XP cannot talk to the internet (all others can). After spending many, many hours trying to correct the problem, still no internet. I have convinced myself that uSoft is planting something to force users to upgrade. Win 7 RC has been running since first released with no problems. My all important finance software is now running on Win 7 which give me peace if nind. Ubuntu runs fine and wth software to work with uSoft seems to be nearly complete. I will upgrade XP to Win 7 only because of the current XP problem but may go open source completely in the future.

I burned my Cousin in Florida & myself a RC copy of Windows 7. In my opinion, it's a little fancier, a little faster but, I won't pay for the upgrade, because I bought my new Compaq SR5510F Desktop PC, in July, from walmart.com. Well, customer service at HP, says that my PC doesn't qualify, for the free upgrade. I guess I should have bought another Dell, like I did six years ago. I will never buy another HP computer, just for the fact is that they can't be trusted with their word, to sell a computer. It has AMD Dual Core Processor & Windows Vista Home Premium & it's okay but, HP shouldn't have lied to me.

There should have been an option that said, "I already have Windows 7"

  • oddone - 15 years ago

Where's the option for not using windows, have no desire to use windows and have been perfectly fine with a Linux machine for over 10 years. I got rid of Microsoft products years ago and have no desire to switch back. I'm not a Mac nut either. Just someone who uses Linux and likes it. To all the people to think you have to compile all your software, you need to get out of the past. Linux has been binaries for years, no compile necessary. As for windows 7? No thanks, too expensive, too much DRM, and I don't believe in lease ware. You should read the ELUA, they don't warranty their software for any particular use. End user beware!

All Microsoft products have serious flaws, have incomparability, performance and security issues and are NEVER as polished as their competitors. I am stuck with Windows until a better OS comes along, Google perhaps, and I serious gamer. I've been trying out Windows 7 RC for a while and find that it's much better than Vista and so-so compared to XP.

I already placed an order to buy Windows 7 as I do like some of the new functionality and seriously, I can't wait for a better OS to come along that'll run current PC games and I'll switch over in a heartbeat.

I have stayed with Mr Microsoft since his '95 offering, but the ever increasing size, DEMANDS on resorces and inability of his overpayed minions to write a program with less floors than the Empire State building is doing a great job at pushing us all towards other OS .
Long may their efforts continue in this time of resession Dole Queue next block down.

I already installed Windows 7 Ultimate almost 2 months ago, of course pirate version, and I will never buy piece of software in my life, I also download full blu-ray movies for 3 years and of course I played 1000 of pc games ... also I donwload music and comics. As I said I will never pay for anything.

About you those with old hardware who had problems with Vista, I never had any problem, and Vista was great! It was just urban legend that vista was bad, and windows 7 is great I love it. Better than vista in many things.

  • neonguru - 15 years ago

Not very scientific since they don't supply an option for people who don't have windows computers. Therefore, all non-windows people will naturally choose the last option.

  • Shahhanshah Ali-Cassim - 15 years ago

Windows 7 is like running Windows Vista but without the high-demands of hardware. So if your comfortable with Windows XP but need to upgrade without the hassle of running Windows Vista, then Windows 7 is ideal for you. Remember, there are 3 main different versions - Vista Home Premium, Professional, and Ultimate. I would recommend you check out Microsoft's website to see a comparison and decide which is best for you. I have been running the RC version since March and it seems very impressive. Of course, if your fed-up or frustrated with Microsoft's Windows Operating systems then just cover your computer and go back to using a typewriter. (Smile)

    Windows 7.... awaiting patiently.

  • Alan - 15 years ago

Windows 7 is just the crap that was Windows Vista, but re-skinned. Damage control I think the corporate geniuses at Microsoft would call it...

  • Brendan Davis - 15 years ago

I was semi excited about the release of windows 7. I can no longer stand dealing with Microsoft's quirks so I shreded my three signature edition copies of 7 Ultimate along with my MCP certificate. Ubuntu is the best OS for now. Waiting patiently for "Chrome OS" to come in on the next "Wave". Besides, We might get to see Balmer throw another chair if we all jump ship.

Only update my main Vista Business I pre-ordered bargain upgrade. I thought I had a good deal for my other 3 computers with the Windows 7 Family Pack. This deal just fell thru after I pre-ordered. The letter from microsoft that it says is attached was not. The family pack offer was limited and now I cant find it anywhere. Does anyone know if it is still offered somewhere? Only can find the one license full price upgrade at the sites Proadvantage lists.
