The racist charge is bogus, as anyone who listens to Rush already knows. To tell the truth about the status of the liberal race industry, which is focused on victimization and keeping as many minorities as possible dependent on government is a different thing than racism.

To the extent that his comments are "divisive" it is because the left is not interested in having their agenda exposed, and so they hit back with misrepresentations and charges of racism.

I wonder what ever happened to "sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never harm me". I find it interesting as the news chronicles the decline of the ability of our citizens to read or write coherently the new saying seems to be "words and sentences make me feel bad but bullets and guns make me read glad".

The grandfather of the current owner of the Detroit Lions was awarded Nazi Germany's Grand Cross of the German Eagle, the highest award Nazi Germany could give a foreigner. The owners grandfather was strongly anti-semitic, and owned a newspaper that published anti-semitic views in the 1920s.

The owners grandfather's name? Henry Ford.

The quotes being used are statements Rush never made and 'un-sourced'. I have listened to Rush for many years and he is colorblind and judges people solely on character and competence. The people attacking him using lies are despicable. He loves the NFL and has the utmost respect for the players, and has said so repeatedly many times over many years prior to this controversy. The controversy is made up and based on not liking his ideology. It says much about his distracters lack of both character as people and competence as journalists.

Tara Servatius is permitted to give HER OPINION on a daily basis no matter who's toes she is stepping on. Why shouldn't Rush! Maybe he should consider the Panthers (Just my opinion you know)

the players should be happy that rush is interested in buying a team.now they can use the race card to get more money and better contracts.plus it will give rev. al another way to make money as a sports agent.

Rush should be allowed to own a team. Of course, if he gets any say in picking the players, his team of white, blonde, blue-eyed sieg heil sycophants will never make it to the playoffs, but it will be fun to see them beat up each week.

Rushlimbaugh did say the NFL wanted to embelish McNabb because they wanted a black quarter back to be successful.....There is no question about wheather he said it or not.....But other than that Rush has made comments against women, gays or anyone who isn't male, white and over 21 and a republican extremist.......Rush would be way too devisive in my judgement.

Rush should be allowed to own a team. Any punk sissies that don't like it can take their ball and go home.

Rush would do more to uplift the integrity of the NFL than his detractors realize. His knowledge of the inner workings of the sport and business in general are beyond compare. Speaking for myself who has listened to Rush since August of 1988 his audience is as diverse as is his staff which looks like a mini United Nations that few of his ignorant critics are aware. "Ignorant", yes because they do not listen to his EIB broadcast, simply parrot what famous named public figures say about Rush, who also are not listeners.

Considering all the thugs that play pro ball, I think Rush will give the sport some class.

Poor Rush. He has all the money in the world but fails every time he tries to join society. He has no friends, only those hangers-on who flock to him because of the money. How many times divorced, three? He wanted to do sports on TV and look what happened. He doesn't get it.
The NFL doesn't need him to capture an audience. All the bigots watch football. He just wants to belong. Can't buy it. All that money and no friends.
He has very high negatives among those under 40. He'll die wealthy -- and lonely.
Fame and money just can't buy you acceptance. It is actually sad.

This has nothing to do with politics. Rush is no different than Letterman – they are entertainers. But, while Rush has every right to want an NFL team, the owners have every right to refuse letting him buy one. It is business after all. To answer the question, yes, he should be able to own a team, but I do not think he will get his wish.

Kathy and IMD,

You guys are pieces of work. As far as I am concerned, the other owners have NO right to say who can and can't be an owner in their league. That's like Bill Gates havng to approve the boad of directors of Intel. The only reason I see that they shouldn't want him is that he may inadvertently expose some of the behind the scenes crap that these prima donnas exercise on a daily basis. You want to talk about racist? How about the present owners exploiting the players they have to line their pockets. I think you both know what I mean.

It was the NFL owners that had to be mandated to interview minority head coaching candidates. They had to be forced. The guy that runs Rush's show is a minority. Rush hired him all on his own without anyone mandating or forcing him. The NFL players and owners better look in their own house before they start down this path.

K,
Coming from another Democrat sheep, I will consider the source.

2009-10-14 12:53:15 ET

And, who cares? Why the owner of a football franchise should be this interesting is beyond my comprehension. The government is trying to control every facet of my life and we are talking about a football franchise? I don't get it. Get out and VOTE! It does matter and each vote counts! Look at the last election, every vote counted.

Jim
2009-10-14 13:08:17 ET

Beth,
Well said but, for the sake of all of us you voters, use your heads. You have no idea how many people I know (yes Kathy College gaduates most of them) comlain about Governor Perdue when they voted for her. When asked they say they didn't. If you ask them who they voted for, they simply state "I voted straight Democrat, not for her.". Lazy. They drank the Obama kool aid and didn't take the time to pay attention to what they were doing.

Why is WBT obsessed with football? Numerous polls about the Panthers and now Rush. There are more important issues right now than a game.

I've listened to Rush for decades and have never heard him make a racist comment. If he did I'd have quit listening. He allegedly made these comments 11 years ago and they are just now surfacing? Oh, please! This is more mainstream media trying to bring Rush down. He is intelligent, articulate and a huge football fan.

Now that Obama is President the race issue has heightened in this nation like I've never seen in my life. Obama himself brought it up during the campaign and now any criticism of him is deemed racist. It's one thing after another...the white cop and the black professor, etc.

the drugster has all the right in the world to spend his money on trying to have someone other than the idiots that listen to him and call in on his program to talk to. he is longing for conversation with non koolaid drinking people who think for themselves.

dlr, you have never heard Rush make a racist comment? You are kidding, right? I admire Rush for his abilities, but his messages are constantly tainted with racial innuendo. You don't track them, because you are not black. But if you have any training in diversity, or if you were black, you would pick up on them.

Will I Am

I Am Dem: name something. Also there are more black racists than white racists in this country. Prejudice is one thing, racism is another. Rush loves ALL people. He has a black producer!!

Anyone else notice where this poll is posted? WBT web site. If it is such a bad station and leans to the conservative side, why ae the Dems here raising a stink? Oh that's right. there is no lefty talk show host that could even pack Rush's lunch.

IMD, that is not racism, thats just hillarious!! I wouldn't care if he WAS a racist. You think jackson and sharpton aren't racist? Well maybe if you were trained in diversity, or if you were white you would understand that they are.
