Pffft... Twitter? No chance in hell it will live past the next big "social site" that pops up
I don't think we know the potential of what Twitter can do for society yet
This was a difficult vote for me and so I voted for a tie.
We all use Social Networking groups for varying reasons or purposes; I use Facebook for everyday communications and for a game application, whilst I use Twitter to communicate with the Media and the Police (as well as a handful of friends).
If the very large organisation that I worked for had an extensive Intranet programme, then I would use that in preference to Facebook.
This is the ultimate battle.
No contest. Twitter and its numbers are so overhyped with fake accounts, followers and full of spam, not to mention unreliable uptime. Oh wait, and no business model. Sorry to be so harsh on you Twitter, but if there can only be one, you're not it compared to Facebook.
Facebook??? Come on ... Twitter hasn't even started yet, and it's already way ahead!!! Facebook is great, Google is awesome ... put them together in a box, shake it a little, and what comes out? Right ... Twitter!!!
By the support alone Twitter gets from the developer community (where they actually build usefull apps, compared to Facebook-apps), it's already very clear that Twitter will be absolutely a gazillion times better than FB.
Used to love Facebook, but Twitter is so much more!
They really do have different purposes. Facebook is all about reconnecting with people you once knew or know, while Twitter is about connecting with people you don't necessarily know but who share similar interests. This said, I voted Facebook because they appear to have greater resources and can offer a better user experience in my opinion (less spam, less restrictions and greater choice in what can be shared). And it looks as though Facebook isn't afraid of adopting what makes Twitter good into its own service.
I first used twitter before signing up for facebook. My first thought of facebook: "This is like twitter but 100x better". Needless to say, I have not even logged back on to twitter.
Now that I'm using Twitter, I only occasionally access my Facebook. Just works better for me.
two different purposes...
however, if I had to choose one of them I would go to Facebook.
it is a real living social community where I meet, relate, and interact with people.. rather than send, share, and post statuses and news, but also create meaningful community and sub communities.
Facebook is more flexible to share interests, meet people and do what you want...
I think twitter is very restrictive, and it will eventually come to an end, like all the great technologies in the past that had its moments :)
what separates facebook is that its a never ending evolving platform, bringing in all the new stuff while preserving your digital identity. I feel my facebook identity as important as the real me (geek :D)
another bad point of twitter that it became very spammy!
I really don't understand twitter at all? How does it even compare to Facebook. There's no dialogue that happens there....just pushing out stuff from one user to many. On Facebook conversations happen. The only benefit to twitter is that you can get an announcement on your phone. but that's it. it does nothing to help build a brand or create community. or.....maybe someone can explain it to me.
Twitter is all I have patience for. If you're selective about who you follow, it can be extremely useful. Facebook is an utter waste of time.
Twitter all the way. When FaceBook gets rid of all its games, it will become much less of a timesink, and be more useful.
