What do you think about gay marriage?

It is not about equal rights. Gay men and women have EXACTLY the same rights as ANY man or women in America. NO man or woman, straight or gay, whether they want to or not, can marry someone of the same sex. We are all equal under the same law.

As for those people who think they are men born in a woman’s body, or women born into a man's body ... those poor souls are simply mentally ill and should be confined in a hospital and psychologically treated until they are no longer perverts.

Why is it that trans gendered men, seem only to like to dress up as hookers, with extra long finger nails, extravagant make up, and not an old farmer woman or Muslim woman, covered from head to toe and without make up? Maybe it’s because they are not really a woman born in a man’s body, but they are just plain sick and deviant.

Just because you screw your roommate, doesn't mean the taxpayers should give your sexual activities any kind of funding. If there is absolutely no chance, now or ever, of producing children from your sexual contact, you don't need any tax money to support your orgasms. When the day comes that a child can be born from two sicko's poking around in their poo-hole's, maybe then maybe the pervert's can get the same tax funded benefits as normal, non-deviant, mentally healthy people.

Equal right to get married and get divorced.

I cannot see where the heterosexual "I do"s are held with any more spiritual revere with so many divorces.

I am half Italion and a Catholic woman. There are two side of me, One side is against gay and Lesbions and same sex marrage. My logical side approve same sex but not a religious marrage. May be it is being a Nurse and worked in Philadelphia's huge Gay comunity . My children are not gay. I ask myself a question. If any of them were Gay would I love them less ior disapproved religious wedding? It is a controversy between religious believe and legality. I did take care of many sick Gey people and worked with them. Neverthless, it is a controvery to me.

Weren't Europeans openly gay for centuries (historically) So its only fair that they, as well as all "others", get married and divorced.

I see no reason for gays/lesbians to marry at all. They cannot biologically reproduce with each other--and that is the major reason that we have marriage in the first place--to provide for stability of a one man/one woman relationship that established a clear blood line for rights to inherit property. Our crazy quilt of laws and easy divorces are making a mess of our children in so many ways. Only those people who are capable of having children, welcome children, and have the capacity to care for children should be getting married now, straight or gay. I know that is a radical and perhaps controversial stand, but that is the way I feel. If gays want to have sex with each other and commit to each other privately, that is fine--but they really don't need the protection of law to do that. In fact, I think the cry for gay marriage is to undermine traditional marriage, only that. Why? The more unstable the family is, the more likely that people will gravitate to 'other' ways of being, out of unhappiness or even out of rebellion/antisocial acting out. The more desperate, unhappy people there are in the world, the more opportunities to find 'gay' partners in that deviant life style.
I do not buy the rationalizing going on today about gay penguins being an example of homosexual states of being found in nature. Biologically, there is a reason to pair off with a person of a different sex--and one reason only...to have and raise biological children together. I also do not buy that there is a 'gay' gene. I think it is a learned behavior and because it is abhorrent to many (except perhaps in prison populations and among those who are isolated for long periods with only their own sex), homosexuals are pushing a political agenda to gain 'equal' rights. Their rights are in no way being diminished or trampled. No one is stopping them in any meaningful way from enjoying the rights of citizenship. I also feel that if gays want to serve in the millitary, perhaps a way to see how they might perform while in the military would be to allow all gay companies or all lesbian companies and see how that might work. To me, I think the obvious problem with mixed service would be the problem of solicitation and privacy. I also think that people who are young, sexually active and in a unit of mixed company might become dangerous and escalate sexual harassment, rape, and sexual assault, even more than we see now. Since the military is all professional now, and adults are supposed to be under control of their bodies-- I think the don't ask and don't tell policy works just fine. Just as it is unprofessional for teachers to bed students, nurses/doctors to sexually explore with patients, and managers to expect sexual favors from workers, I think those in the military should steer clear of homosexual arrangements on duty. Off duty and off post--no problem.
In summary:
1. There is no need for homosexual marriage.
2. There is no evidence of homosexuality as a genetic predisposition rather than a learned behavior and a personal choice.
3. Don't ask/don't tell works well in the military--promoting open sexual preferences could lead to a myriad of legal and personal issues that the military does not have the time, money or resources to provide to assure that no one is harassed or mistreated due to their sexual preference--gay or straight. It is a very private and intimate matter that needs not be discussed with anyone.

Honesty speaking - I'm not gay and have no clue about gay people. Therefore, it is their decision to do what they want and their reponsibility to fight for what they want. I hope that I have not offended anyone.

Some people fear the wrath of God more than they do the wrath of Sean Penn, Barbra Streisand or the champ of all loud mouths, Rosie O'Donnell.

I remember hearing a Christian actress once say something close to "I am not going to be standing before Barbra Streisand to give an accounting of my life."

No matter how much Hollywood and their ilk try to convince themselves and everyone else it is a civil rights issue, they're not fooling many. Look how the Gay marriage ban went in California. Overwhelming pro GAY MARRIAGE BAN. Why so big a vote margin? Blacks put it way way over the top.

Does Sean Penn attack blacks over it? Does any celebrity? No. Why not? Because they will only attack what they think they can get away with attacking. Karma...karma.....karma.

It has nothing to do with God, or even personal wants. Do whatever the hell you want, AS LONG AS THERE IS NO PUBLIC TAX DOLLAR BENIFIT TO YOU.

No man can marry another man; no woman can marry another women. There is no discrimination against anyone.

Straight men can only marry women; Gay men can only marry women.
Straight women can only marry men; Gay women can only marry men.
Straights and Gays are equal and are treated that way and always have been.

When it comes to marriage, everyone is treated the same. Gay people NEED to QUIT bitching and comparing your extremely, minor, little, tiny, inconveniences, to the actual problems Blacks had with equality.

I can’t marry someone of the same sex as me, and you can’t marry someone of the same sex as you. NO BIG DEAL. Gays need to get some much needed mental medical health help and move on.

I am against gay marriage, but pro civil unions.

Marriage has a meaning of its own, and I don't understand why homosexuals are so he** bent on pushing their way into it. They should establish a ceremony, vows, and a certificate with a new name.. just not "marriage", and call it their own.

As for civil rights, give me a break. We all have the same rights in this country, as human beings. Marriage isn't any type of a "right". Before homosexuals go on about their "civil rights" being taken away, they should pay a visit to Iran to get a mini taste for what it's like to truly not not have any form of human rights.

Why is it that I have to accept everything that people stand up and demand, but I cannot stand up and demand from others myself? Why do I have to allow others’ beliefs and ways of life, when they are not forced to do the same? The person who has been hired by our employee #1 to be in charge of ‘safe schools’ is a gay man. Good for him. I hope he enjoys his life style. I do not hold that against him, and won’t ever. There are many people who have a life style different from mine. Conversely, my life style is different from all of there’s. That is fine with me. What I have a problem with is how I MUST accept these other life styles. I am forced to let others live their life styles, EVEN WHEN I HAVE ALREADY ACCEPTED THEIR WAYS! Personally, I find the homosexual life style wrong, and against the teachings of my parents and my religion. I am certain that those who live that way of life do so for their own personal reasons. It doesn’t matter if it’s their choice, or if they are born that way, or any other reason. Live the life you choose. What an American concept! But I have the same right. I have the right to raise my children in the manner that I choose. If I do not want to teach them that the gay way is good, then that is my choice. Individual choice. Just like the choices that Americans make on all of the topics and ways of living. As long as the law is followed, live. But, do not for one second believe that you have the right to FORCE me to believe as you do. Schools should not be teaching anything but reading, writing, arithmetic, history, geography, science. The social programs are not part of any curriculum. Why is it that the schools have books like Billy’s 2 daddies, and Jane’s other Mommy and things like that, but they haven’t had a single geography text book in years?? The kids know about social programs, but not about social studies. But they cannot tell you what the capital of France is, or where is Luxembourg.
The first amendment of the US Constitution is for ALL Americans, not just selfish ones. I have the right to NOT believe in atheism, or Wicca or Judaism, or Catholicism, or Hinduism, or any other religion. I have the right to NOT believe that homosexuality is right. I have the right to believe instead that it is against my religion. The Bible discusses what became of Sodom and Gomorrah because of how they behaved. I believe in this. So it should be considered against my religion for anyone to try and make me believe that homosexuality is ok. Therefore it should be considered that it is also violating my CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS of freedom of religion! And to follow the dominoes, if this is against my Constitutional rights, it should not be brought into schools, since it is also against the Constitutional rights of everyone who believes like me. Additionally, if the beliefs I maintain, being based on religious teachings are protected by the first amendment, then any - ANY - teaching of homosexuality in public schools should be considered a first amendment issue of separation of church and state. Why has that not been brought up before??

I am sympathetic to people who don't fit in with the norm. I believe in live and let live. I don't care what people do in their bedroom, out of my sight.

I am a heterosexual and proud of it. Making love between a man and a woman can result in a child, continuing the species, this is the natural order of things. A woman makes love to a woman a baby can not result, a man makes love to a man a baby cannot result. If we were all gay or lesbian the species would end. It is an entertainment preference, other than that it is unproductive in a biological activity.
Aids is more prevalent in this environment. Most people would like to have a family IE children unless you get assistance from a heterosexual couple in some fashion same sex couples will never naturally on their own produce a family.
Teaching this as just as natural of a life style in schools is more than a little foolish in my opinion.
Do what you wish, just don't push it on me as being normal, because frankly it is not.

You're delusional. God has nothing to do with marriage. States issue marriage licenses; a marriage isn't legal just because you show up at some stupid church and have some priest or minister say a few meaningless prayers.

Perverts and deviants should not get Tax related benifits just because they cannot marry someone of the same sex as themself, and play in each others poop holes. Poop hole playing is no reason to get any kind of benifits.

as a 16 year old, i know i may not ''know'' that much compared all of the adults. but to be honest, i would definitely not want to be raised by gay parents. furthermore, many people would not feel so uneasy about gay people if it was something morally right. why would they make such a big deal about it if it was something good for the world?
in fact, i feel disgusting when i have to even think about it. . i don't mean to be so insulting, but it makes me sick to the point of being scared.
right now i have to write an essay about gay marriage vs non-gay.
it is so hard. i cant even concentrate right now, having to research on such a topic makes me feel so uncomfortable.
because it IS actually abnormal.

I don't believe in gay anything!

I thought sodomy was against the law. Was illegal. They make it a big deal in the law when its done to someone, yet this horrible sickening way of having sexual intercourse is being done. Thats what I think of when I think of homosexual behavior.

If my child was in school and this was even slightly pushed on them or they were being taught to be "tolerant" of this behavior I'd pull my kids out of school.

Now do I believe in any form of violence towards them, absolutely NOT. But I feel that about most human beings. UNLESS these people have harmed a child.
