Do you support renewing Jackson County’s quarter-center sales tax for COMBAT?

Yes, it’s a no brainer. It helps fight crime with no raise in taxes.

No, a tax reduction is more important.

What is COMBAT?

Did not know there is a public election on this Nov. 3.

ALTHOUGH COMBAT DOES DO A LOT OF CRIME PREVENTION AND TREATMENT SUPPORT I BELIEVE THEY ARE GETTING TOO WIDE SPREAD. I RECENTLY HAD TO TAKE MY DAUGHTER TO THE INDEPENDENCE JUVE. COURT FOR A CRIME SHE DEFFIENTLY DID NOT COMMIT AND COMBAT WAS STAMPED ON HER CHARGES. ARE THEY JUST TRYING TO MAKE MONEY BY TICKETING A HUNDRED KIDS FOR "ONE" CRIME THAT ONLY ONE KID SHOULD BE CHARGED FOR OR ARE THEY TRYING TO FIGHT THE BIGGER ISSUES SUCH AS METH, CRACK, STREET GANGES, AND OTHER DRUG RELATED ISSUES THAT ARE MORE LIFETHREATING TO ALL? dON'T GET ME WRONG I HAVE MUCH RESPECT FOR COMBAT AND ALL THEY DO DO FOR THE COMMUNITY HOWEVER ITS TIMES WHEN I SEE THEIR NAME ON ALL THESE INDEPENDENCE POLICE TICKETS AND KNOWING THEY ARE BOGUS CHARGES, AND ALL THE BRUTALITY THE INDEPENDENCE POLICE CAUSES WEATHER FROM EGO OR REPUTATION, I SERIOUSLY HAVE TO STOP AND QUESTION MYSELF AS TO WEATHER COMBAT IS REALLY HELPING SOLVE ISSUES ON THE STREET AND MABY THEY SHOULD LOOK WITHIN THEIR OWN POLICE DEPARTMENT.

COMBAT was sold to the public on the false premise that DARE was successful. It has been proven that DARE has done nothing to reduce drug use among kids and in fact served only to educate them on what drugs are available, what they're called, what they look like, and where to get them.

COMBAT is another example of the Government throwing money at a problem created by government in the first place. When alcohol prohibition finally ended, Al Capone was out of a job. END DRUG PROHIBITION and drug crimes HALT. A lot of people want recreational drugs. Prohibition has done NOTHING to curb demand and only makes criminals out of people that have harmed noone. As a recent CATO study confirms, drug decriminalization has had significant success in countries like Portugal in reducing drug-related crime, HIV infections, and addiction rates. That's right... ending prohibition REDUCES drug addictions.

Get drugs out of the hands of violent criminals, off the streets, and into the pharmacies where their safety can be assured and the distribution better controlled. Stop stealing money from people to fund yet another failed government program. Legalize drugs, legalize freedom.
