As a current Batavia City School District Employee and coach, I KNOW that we already CURRENTLY maintaining this property (and at one point even mowed it myself) and field and gym space is currently limited to a point of a competitive disadvantage for our spring sports teams.

High School Sports Fields Usage (4 Sports fields: 1 baseball diamond, 1 softball diamond, 1 lacrosse practice field, 1 lacrosse game field)

    Varsity Baseball Practice Field
JV Baseball Practice and Game Field
Varsity Lacrosse Practice and Game Field
JV Varsity Lacrosse Practice and Game Field
    Modified Lacrosse Game Field
Varsity Softball Practice and Game Field
    JV Softball Game Field

That is SEVEN(7) teams using FOUR(4) fields! Outside sports are meant to played OUTDOORS and when the field space is used up these teams are forced to practice indoors.

John Kennedy Hosts Modified Baseball and Lacrosse
The Middle School Hosts Modified Softball
Van Detta Stadium Hosts the Outdoor Track Team
Robert Morris and Jackson do not have enough field space to host high school sports teams

I'm tired of paying school taxes on a piece of wasted property! To develop North Street park with a grant is a great idea. They are not talking about building a junk yard or a land fill, but a multi-use park for the kids of this community to utilize. This is free money that we don't get if we don't use it. I think that if this issue occured anywhere else in Batavia, the park would already have been developed.
