Right now it's the Obama Care. I do not want this to pass in the format that this administration has in mind for us. I think that if this passes we won't have to worry about the economy because the Government will take care of everything for us. A very scarey thought!!!

Health care is part of the economy money spent we don't have hurts us. If you don't have a job and health care passes you cant buy health care so you get fined and or go to jail.

In my mind this poll presents a false choice, they're not independent. Healthcare program adds about $1T to spending which is already an emergency and planned to get worse, furthermore cuts medicare which cuts into seniors' lives and lifestyle. If the economy were robust and we could pay for it, healthcare would be less of an issue. It's easy to ask for the moon, the hard thing is to figure out how to realistically get there, or to decide what would be the next best thing we actually can afford.

YOU REPORTED HOW HARRY REID DID A SNEAKY TRICK TO GET HIS STATE COVERED FOR MEDICARE. SOMEONE SHOULD CHECK WHAT HE HAS DONE FOR THE VETERANS. THE VEGAS FACILITY LITERALLY FELL APART. NEW BLDG., BAD CONSTRUCTION, SIX YEARS AGO. THE VETERANS WERE FARMED OUT TO OTHER HOSP.LOCATIONS. SOME WENT TO BULLHEAD CITY, AZ. TO A CLINIC, SOME TO PRESCOTT,AZ., WHICH IS NICE BUT FAR. WHILE OTHERS WERE SENT TO CALIF. VA CENTERS. WHEN MY HUSBAND GOES TO THE VA IN PENSACOLA FL. WE NOW SEE VERY YOUNG VETS FIGHTING FOR CARE. WISH FOX WOULD INVESTIGATE THE VET AFFAIRS AND SEE THAT OUR YOUNG HEROES ARE HELPED.

That's a no brainer, Greta...the economy is more important. Without a thriving economy, our health is affected since many out of work citizens are putting off seeing a doctor, treating themselves because they cannot afford not only healthcare, but a doctor's office visit. The current economy is also causing a great deal of stress for many, causing health issues. I doubt that anyone would disagree that we need reform, BUT, it can be done incrementally starting with TORT reform, deregulation and working with the insurance companies to provide a "basic" health plan that would be affordable for those that need it.

Dear Greta

I voted economey however, I strongly believe in our safety. Getting out of Afganidhsn is a big issue to me. Our safety is more importent than Economy
and Health care. If we die of terrorist attack then economey and health care is nothing. I remember the dovostation of Terrorist attack in 2001. Our economic center in NYC was closed. No flying. Our president's "Hony moon" was over. He was hiding. That day scare the hell out of me. Did President Bush inherited this problem from Clinton Administration? Pakisthan is neighbour of Afganishan and the hate America and they have Nuclear Bomb and long range misile.

Can't separate the two: if health care becomes a tax burden, we have a very different economy. That new section that includes the tax for not buying into the program, followed by a fine for not paying the tax, plus up to a year in jail, for individuals, while health care providers can not even be held liable, for anything, when their provisions lead to the death of a patient: there is no way to sign on to this insanity, and expect the economy to recover. I care about having medical care available to all who live here legally, including elderly relatives who have paid into their systems for many decades. I believe medical fraud and mismanaged care can be addressed, including exhorbitant malpractice claims, when found, without disrupting the entire system, leaving the economy a slim chance to recover. There is no option for this on the poll.

Health care is important because ....they are PUSHING SOCIALISM AND TAKING OVER OUR COUNTRY People need to wake up NOW, before we wake up in gray suits and goose stepping one morning soon! OUR COUNTRY IS IN THE MIDDLE OF BEING OVERTHROWN AND everybody is talking about it, we NEED TERM LIMITS NOW, WHY SHOULD THESE people be in office LONGER THAN A President??? Why do we have to support them till they are dead???? Lets CUT THE WASTE NOW! How about talking about Term Limits NOW??

I believe fixing the health care is fixing the economy, It will cost small business less to cover their employees. With the threat of high health care cost lifted, businesses will feel better hiring or rehiring

Obama is completely stupid or corrupt
2009-10-07 21:17:13 ET

Obama is purposly trying to destroy our economy, or, Obama is completely stupid or corrupt, there are NO other choices. If you think there are other choices, YOU are completely stupid or corrupt!!!!

Your are NOT fairminded
2009-10-07 21:54:13 ET

Fairminded ----- Where did you dig up that piece of pure Obama propaganda? Obama will have to raise tazes on EVERYONE to pay for his delusion. The only way the small business people will rehire is when Obama lowers our taxes. Otherwise I am cutting 20 more jobs and dividing up that work amoung my other employees and myself.

I voted for the economy as they keep saying that 14,000 American's are losing their health insurance everyday. Could that be because they are losing their jobs? Yes and they are losing their jobs because of the horrible policies this so called President has promised. They have us so deep in debt now that the rich can't afford to pull us out, so we will all be paying more taxes. Pay higher taxes so that those that pay no taxes will have more credits. It is a vicious circle. Stop the spending! Give back the rest of the stimulus and no higher taxes.

Poll question is confusing. Healthcare will ultimately effect the economy. With healthcare comprising 17% of the nation’s economy and all forecasts having staggering costs that are likely to destroy the country’s economic vitality, how can anyone continue the march down this path that is permanent and irreversible without more debate? Additionally, reviewing government’s performance in other healthcare programs should concern everyone. Hawaii, Oregon, Massachusetts, Tennessee and Maine all have a version of government managed health care and it has proven to be a mess. (See details at IBD article posted 10/6/09.

People should realize HEALTH-CARE is the single most important factor in our ECONOMY. It affects our competative abilities in the MARKETPLACE because of the enormous costs put on employers.Look at foreign car companies whose HEALTH-CARE COSTS aren't as much of a factor than US MANUFACTURERS. The examples can be used in other industries.

I voted the Economy thinking that health care is 1/6th of the economy but if you're sick and need care it might as well be 100%. Cut taxes, give incentives to small business, white as well as black, fire the czars, impeach Obama, declare martial law and put General Petraus in as interim president until we can hold an election without ACORN, Black Panthers, and SEIU or the AFL-CIO unions involved in corruption. We can do this..Yes we can.

I am equally concerned about the economy and the healthcare bill. In all my 70 years I have never been politically involved beyond trying to vote responsibly, but this is just too much. I'm angry with our congress and with those who are so opposed to another person's values, beliefs and opinions.

The healthcare issue is so much more important than the economy right now because decisions made about healthcare are going to deeply affect the economy. Please don't let the issues get confused. The economy is what it is and there is really nothing we can do about it (we shouldn't have done the stimulus package and should have just let the chips fall where they should); but we cannot start messing with healthcare right now. It could be devastating to this country.l People!! Wake up.

If a public option H C plan is passed, this will seal a big hole in the economy that will not recovered. It will ramp up costs and not address the real problems of the H C industry- tort reform, national comp for insur and streamlining Medicare/Medicade.
Atterneys will refuse to eat their oun- we will not hear tort ref - malpractice insurance costs are extreme.

If this health care bill is passed, we can kiss our economy and life good by because it won't be much. The socialist/marxist/communists will run our country. This is what they have been after. That is why Obama is so set on making it happen. Look at his people who surround and advise him.

i believe the ecomomy should be fixed first. get rid of the fraud in medicaid & medicare. stop trying to make everyone poor.Obama and his comrads stop trying to degrade this country. Pelosi is a big joke. why dont all of the ones wants this healthcare donate all of their income to pay for this healthcare nightmare. "REaD AND POST THE BILL"

This health care issue is very alarming to me. I'm having trust issues with the Obama administration. I keep getting the gut feeling that what you see is NOT what you're gonna get. And if congress can't post a bill via internet at least three days to a week before it's voted on, I will continue to have issues trusting any of them.

I believe health care is a large part of why the economy is partially in the shape it is in. I know personally people who are in major medical debt. My son-in-law is 25 and even with a health care plan, he had 2 lung surgeries and spent 14 days in intensive care. He does't see how he will ever pay off his debt. Yes, we hear many stories like this or even worse ones but he is not just a number he is a caring, hard working Dad. When George Bush was running for office I kept saying " why isn't anyone talking about health care." I wish Bush had dealt with it so we might not be faced with the Progressive ideas of Obama. I am so worried about the results of the Democrats plans

Greta, et al!
Thank all of you for providing the truth and the most fantastic news presentation in a comprehensive, in deapth, on target and truthful. There is no other source for knowing the truth, about the unfortunate direction our country is headed in under the liberal left wing downward spiral.
I don't care about John and Kate or other bollywood fluff. I do care about the demise of our constitution and our economy. I forsee every potential disaster waiting in the wings to manifest theirselves because of our manic, self destructive current government.
Obama is a very intelligent individual with a personal agenda and ego that cannot or will not be swayed by a senate or congressional minority. I believe that because of his fundamental resection of our government with the wealth re-distribution as his holy grail, that he is well on the way to fulfilling that evil agenda with a little help from his manicial frends, Nancy, Harry and Mat.
Please, continue to investigate Acorn and their miriad tentacles. Investigate the Rangels and Reids. Make the Dems squirm! You know they never rest!
You and your stellar team are the only hope the American people have!
God Bless

I voted and I said the Healthcare because they are so dead set on pushing something through that we do not want and that is going to cost a fortune, that I felt like it needed to be dealt with first. How much more are the Ameriacns going to take off of this administration. They are literally DESTROYING OUR COUNTRY! There are many other things I would like to say, but youall would not print it. Our country is being devastated by this administration! Let's all wake up GREAT AMERICANS - REAL RED BLOODED Americans!

We are rapidly running out of countrys to borrow from.

If we stay on this path we have traveled for the last 20 years, this nation WILL go broke.

Government of the government, by the government and for the government has destroyed every nation which has allowed it.

When we go into a very deep depression, heath care will be the very least of our worries.

due to circumstances beyond my control i need regular doctor checkups to maintain my mental and my physical health. i have fibromyalgia (20yrs chronic pain of which i am glad the dr's finally admitted was a real disease)also i have arthritis in both of my feet, i was a waitress 19 yrs. and in 2004 i was diagnosed as being manic depressive, bi-polar. i don't have insurance.
i used to. then i lost it when i lost my job. i lost my job because of the pain and the depression was too frequent, going unmedicated as it was. i rely on my life partner or i would not have a roof over my head. med programs help. thank heaven for those. and the drs and nurses who work at the mental health clinic and the community health improvment center, chic. i thank God they are in my life and helping me. i pray i don't lose this little bit that i have so yes what they do affects me a lot and i have to keep track of them. i don't trust them. vote them out all of them put in new people. please.

2009-10-08 08:57:31 ET

Greta, Both of these bug me, but if they pass that health care the way they have it......we are going to have more young people in jail because they can't afford health care. And the economy will continue to get worse if they pass this bill. There wont be as many job, drs, etc. Its a no win anyway you want to look at it. They wont even let us read the health care bill before signing it. So what is so secret? More pork in there some where??????

I believe Obama's obsession with health care has something to do with immigration and career subsidy users. In further opening up this country to illegals particularily Mexicans and Muslims it would be quite an encouragement and he has probably promised it to these countrys.

Obama is leting our country go to he ll in a handbasket because of his obsession with HC. YOU HAVE TO WONDER WHY????

There are far too many people out of work. For those that are employed at this time, they wonder if they will be next. Things keep getting worse and I think Mr. Obama wants it that way. The more people need to depend on the government, the more he likes it.

My husband's employeer discontinued our health care coverage when we turned 65 (1997). We then had to go on Medicare. The company's insurance became our supplement insurance. When Medicare's prescription plan (part D) became effective (2006?) we had to go on it. The company did make arrangements with AARP for us to go on their supplemental program. The Co. paid a portion of that for the first year. Of course it was our choice to take it. The insurance we had with the company was not free. I know they paid a part of it and that is why they "dumped" us and others. They were decent enought to give us fair warning. At this stage of the game I can 't remember if we knew we would have to go on Medicare when we reached the age of 65. For the Part D, that wasn't inexistence, we were told a year or so before it was approved that we would hve to go on it. Because they were discontinuiing our coverage. So people beware of the public option Compaines will drop their insurance coverage because the penality will be cheaper for not caring it In the end we will probably all be on the public option. Of course the Congress and President will have their private policies because the Gov't doesn't have to worry about having enough money to pay for it. When all you have to do is tax the people or print the money, it is a bottomless pit. I am extremely worried about the Gov't getting control of our health care. And they have shown their true colors, they have the audacity to try and pass something that the majority of people do not seem to want. I can't wait until the 2010 elections.

$829B for Healthcare and that is a low estimate. You can double or tripple that. Also heard that Harry Heid tried a back door approach to passing the bill by tacking it to an already passed bill.

Any way that $829B (most likely $1.658T) will harm the economy so I am concerned about one harming the other.

Obama only does harm
2009-10-08 20:38:25 ET

Economy has ups and downs but health care bill guarantees grief , misery, and happy lawyers sueing over unlawful aliens not liking their free health care.
Rationing inevitable as expenses climb. A pox on unthinking supporters of health care without thought except for lawyers. This will haunt politicians for years to come. Doctors will move to Mexico, fly down with nurses weekly to meet patients for serious treatments for cancer and other diseases.
