Won't hurt at all...actually, CBS is probably now realizing him to be a shoe in replacement for Katie Couric!

From the way the audience responded to his comments last night, morality is the last thing on the minds of his fans.

Hollywood has no morals...............they will probably give him an Oscar and the Key To The City

Hurting his career is only wishful thinking for me. The past performances from CBS's handling of their employees' open mouth's or miscues generally means a "dog and poney show", then a raise.

Oh my! oh my! oh me oh my! I hope his career isn't hurt! Say it isn't so!

David who?

By virtue of his liberal politics, Letterman is excused from engaging in behavior that would cause any self-respecting barnyard animal to blush. His audience has no expectations that he will behave honorably, tell the truth. or even be informed.

I'm sure that his wife of eight months and mother of their son, a former CBS staffer, is also not surprised, although one might hope she would be disappointed.

In liberal circles, what's a marriage vow worth anyway?

I grew up watching Letterman when he was on in the mornings. He has always been entertaining, but lately his act is getting old. Time to go Dave. Anyone have top ten reasons for Letterman to get fired?

It is always questionable when a man in a powerful position has an affair with an employee. When the man is 62, recently married and has a young child, it's a bit creepy. I expect that the percentage of women who watch his show will drop.

I hear that Woody Allen and Roman Polanski have signed a petition to release David Letterman from any and all responsibility for his actions. Seriously, by virtue of his liberal politics, this is a resume enhancement.

I know Faux News does not report on Republican scandals, but have you been keeping up with the debauchery Senators Ensign and Coburn are involved in? Or how about Senator Vittner? Or Governor Sanford? Or Newt Gingrich? Admittedly, there is the same behavior on the Democratic side, but Faux keeps you well informed on those, so I wanted to provide some balance. This is not a Democratic or Republican problem – this is a male problem. Conclusion: We need more women in positions of power!

More women in positions of power--do you mean like our excuse for a govenor Bev Taxdue. Kathy, keep to spell check, thats all you are good for.

More women in power? Like Nancy Pelosi, the woman who proves that Botox seeps into the brain and short circuits logic? Or Barbara Boxer, the intellectual lightweight of the Senate (and that is no small accomplishment with all the competition). Or our own Kay Hagan who recently voted in favor of saving the delta smelt instead of turning on water to the San Joaquin valley? Or Maxine Waters? Or that congresswoman in Texas who took a cell phone call in the middle of her town hall meeting? It's not a Republican or Democrat problem. Nor is it female or male problem (on the male side, think of tax cheat Charlie Rangel, self-promoter Roland Burris, bold-faced liar Barney Frank or Chris Dodd). It's a problem with politicians. A very large percentage of our elected officials are not trustworthy, are not intellectually honest, and in a lot of cases just not very smart. In this environment, people like Letterman are truly insignificant little pissants. On second though, Letterman might be an intellectual giant in the company of Bill Mahar. What a thought!

Hurt his ratings?
Not at all - his audience is not intelligent enough to understand the definition of amoral or moral enough to care.

People, don't you see the pattern here? Men in the public eye are VERY attractive to women as most of them are driven to relationships by two things. Money and power. The sex card is the only thing that they themselves have to attract this kind of man. Do YOU find David Letterman attactive at 62? Didn't think so. Look at football players, NASCAR drivers and the like. They get the HOT girlfriends/wives because the woman then gets in the spotlight by association. I look for Jeremy Myafield's wife to leave soon as he is no longer a celebrity. And speaking of MASCAR DRIVERS, are there any women here that would just love to gibe Kyle Busch, Ryan Newman, or Matt Kenseth a big wet kiss? I thought so again. Mark Sanford did what he did because his wife was only interested in the furthering of his career and the kids. Dad got left behind and the sex ticket was about fifth or sixth on Jenny's agenda. Wake up.Women chase public figures. If their wives aren't fulfilling their needs, the men then become vulnerable to the attention.

David and Concerned, I mean most any woman other than Palin. Palin is a disgrace to women everywhere.

Jay, you are absolutely right. So, let's replace men from those positions of power. Problem solved.

I wonder how that cult in DC called the family where all those holy people like ensign and other reps stay while they are in DC would vote in this poll. i really don't because everyone knows how hypocrits are.

Those of us who watch these so called late night talk shows expect this sort of behavior and strive to emulate it whenever possible. Those who do not wish to be exposed only need to change the channel.

If you want the dirt on Republicans I suggest you subscribe to Charlotte Observer, NY Times, CBC, NBC, ABC, any large city daily or PBS. BE smart enough to practice your freedom of choice and stop listening or reading what you find offensive.

Kathy, the last time I checked there must be sex between both a man and a woman for there to be a child. Are you suggesting the CBS female does not realize the word no might work? Perhaps she had another objective in mind, think extortion.

Kathy,

As a woman (and I am guessing here) once again the point went over your head. You don't replace the men, you change the "gotta have it" attitude of the women. There is the famous line to a leader I think we all should follow that states "and lead us not into temptation". If the women who have would stay focused and the women who want would go about it the right way, this c r a p wouldn't be news no the norm of our society today.

Who cares about David Letterman? The big news today is the defeat handed to Obama by the IOC! I guess his holiness just doesn't mean as much as he thought in Europe. It was an unprecedented move by the messiah and his first lady for a sitting president to beg the IOC for the Olympics. He was rejected in the first round of voting! Bet that deflated his ego a bit!

You have hit the nail on the head again.

Who cares?

Please list some reasons why Palin is a disgrace to women everywhere.

I know why she does'nt like sarah palin-probably because palin is a REAL American. She stands up for American VALUES, and she is probably (going out on a limb here) better looking than kathy.-perhaps?

Spot, nope, not at all. I love men and have every reason to. My comments are perfectly rational, not emotional.

Kathy

Mark,

1) She's a quitter
2) She allowed McCain to pick her simply because of her gender
3) She gives terrible interviews
4) She uses her sexuality instead of her brains
5) She raised irresponsible children
6) She abuses her power

Shall I continue?

Should I continue?

Kathy

Loafer, we agree. I, too, am glad that we did not get the Olympics. I thought Repubs sounded a bit anti-American in their opposition to the games, but in the end this is the last thing we need. Go Rio! It's a much nicer place than Chicago.

Kathy

Jay, please read your last statement and write it over. I can make no sense of it.

Kathy
2009-10-02 23:21:05 ET

George, absolutely. The point is that we need to listen, watch and read media of all sorts. Why do you think I listen to WBT? Do you listen to WFAE?

Kathy
2009-10-02 23:22:31 ET

pratt, The Family is a scary thing. How do we get people and the media to start paying attention to them?

RC
2009-10-03 09:28:49 ET

Kathy, for someone who does't care about what people are, such as Republican, Democrat, white, black, male, female etc., and are only concerned about what they do as you stated in another pole, how is it that you are usually the first to bring these things up? Many people that read what you say would be inclined to think that these are the only things that matter to you (except for spelling). You are intelligent enough to make good arguments but, you really do enjoy your victim status and your disdain for anybody outside of your "group" shines brightly.
