this is the day before the first Dodger Playoff game; so I'm voting for Torre; lame and evasive it may be; I can't stand the DH and never have liked it. Now that Torre's got a home run hitting team (laugh) I pray he's learned how to manufacture runs and we'll see an I-5 series and see who is better head-to-head. Dodgers were so distracted during the years in which they might have gotten Mike; We have the Bigelow green tea-man now. So, I'm going with him all the way.

Scioscia has the luxury of winning in the AL west. A division with only 4 teams and most years has 2 terrible teams. With an unbalanced schedule the Angels play most of their games against the AL West. He is a very good manager but we need to keep these things in mind when we talk about his place in baseball.

Torre made himself a Hall Of Fame manager in NY. Although some would say he had high dollar talent and had it "easy" remember Buck Showalter had the same talent as did Joe Girardi and they missed they playoffs. Torre has now made the playoffs as a manager 14 straight seasons (an MLB record) that is no coincidence.

When Scioscia can win in the postseason again he will be regarded as a great manager. Even if he can manage to get his team out of the first round would be a step in the right direction. The AL (recently) has been a tougher league, however in the playoffs the better team always rises to the top. Just look at the(NL) Phillies of 2008.

They are essentially the same guy 20 or so years apart. They are both calm during a storm and save the rah rah for the right time. They are sincere and a tad sarcastic. I for one would love to see Mikey back in Dodger blue. We blew it when we didn't hire him the first time.

When Joe ever rated as a good Mgr. until he got the Yankees. Who cannot manage the Yanks? Highest paid team, best Players etc., etc. Even w/all this Joe could not win the Series, sometimes did not get by the 1st round of playoffs. How many times did Mike beat Joe in AL playoffs? and during the season??

Mike Scoscia is a great manager. He has won big with every kind of team that Angel management has given him. Last year he lost his all star closer, his MVP caliber 1st baseman, to free agency, and Scott Shields to injury. He still wins close to 100 games.

I really like Joe Torre but he did not becme a "great" manager until he got the Yankee job and was handed talent that you could not lose with. Before that he had been a bit of a failure in his other managing stops. He did win the NL West with the Braves but they won just 88 games that year and were quickly swept by St. Louis in the playoffs.

I am a fan of both men. As a long time Dodger fan, I can't help but love and respect the abilities of Mike.....but lets not judge these two good managers until their time is over. At this point, if Joe wins with the Dodgers, he will make the Hall of Fame...and if Mike continues with good Angel teams, he will do the same. Bottom line, they both win!!

Severino: The real idiocy of your comment is that the VAST majority of Torre's wins came with the Yankees who, strangely enough, use the DH. Apparently he didn't manage real baseball in New York either. Yeah, Scioscia's done real well in the inter-league play when matched up against the 4AAA league (NL)

Hey Servino, are you really trying to suggest that the Angels success was because of the DH? Just so you know the Angels went 14-4 in interleague play this year, many of the games were away where the pitcher was part of the batting lineup. I'm tired of idiots saying the AL isn't real baseball. What about the AL vs NL Allstar Game record? The game is alot more exciting when you see see a real hitter in place of a pitcher who's lucky if he can lay down a good bunt. Your Dodgers can't even close the deal against the worst teams in baseball. I'll be at the game Saturday rooting against the Dodgers...Goooo Angels!!!!!!!

torre over manage too much.He been playing Loretta who been hurting the team at the plate and in the field.RAY Charles can truly see that Loretta is finished and shouldnt be on the playoff roster. Manny is making all that jack but hes hurting the team if he not hitting.Torre been playing him too much.

Let's hope that someday Scioscia gets to manage real baseball - without the DH.
